I can't wait!! I have a feeling Sweet Sounds of Heaven is going to be incredible. Angry was just a warm-up. This will be the real deal. Drew

QuoteAmyl Nitrate "The metaphorical male/female, star/fan love story alluded to in 'Angry'". I didn't realize that before, but it's true. The two verses are from a different point of view than the two choruses:  ... I'm looking at the lyrics and not seeing it. Which are the star, which are the fan? Don't get angry with me, I never caused you no pain

Interesting. Hadn’t thought about it from that angle. But who is still angry with Mick/ the Stones in 2023? In the sixties and seventies, with all the controversy they stirred up, yes, many people were. But all that’s long been forgiven and forgotten. They are now a family-friendly act that everyone loves. Drew

QuoteWild Slivovitz It would actually make sense to release a documentary DVD on the making of the record along with the record CD. Looks like there are lots of interesting stories behing this new album. Agree 100%. I would pay good money for that (Mick, are you listening?) Drew

So bummed that I missed the leak for "Get Close" (that's what I get for not visiting IORR for 2 days!!) But the lyrics, ohhhh baby. Soooooooo good. A hyper-concentrated dose of dark, erotic obsession. Marvelous stuff. Unlike the cliched lyrics in "Angry". "The wolf's at the door"?? Ooof. Drew

QuoteTheBadRabbit Quotesbetz Guitar work is mediocre, drumming is too loud. Am I the only one who thinks this is a totally vanilla song??? Vanilla and thoroughly forgettable. There's nothing in the song--not a riff, not a drum lick--that makes me want to hear it again. I don't get the feeling that they were even in the same studio together when they recorded it. "Hey, Keit

QuoteSilver Dagger It's OK but it sounds like a re-modelled hybrid of Start Me Up, Rock And A Hard Place and Sad Sad Sad. I was kinda expecting more as they took so long to come up with it. But it's great to have them back. Well said Mike, and oh how I miss Charlie's swing ... Drew

Quotepowerage78 QuoteStonedRambler QuoteDoxa Yeah, Mick pretty much gives us an answer to many our speculations during all those years in that massive thread we followed the devolopment of the new album. They started almost from a scratch less than a year ago. They seemingly weren't satisfied with the material recorded by then. In the end of the day, during all those (wasted) years they

Quotepeoplewitheyes By the way, once-time Stones biographer Philip Norman was just on BBC Radio 4's PM show casting a very disparaging view of the new single and band as a whole. What's his beef? Interesting. His book about the Stones was so great. Is this BBC segment archived somewhere? Would love to get a link if you have it. Drew

I may have misheard what was said at the press conference, but it sounded like all the tracks on the album are from late 2022 onward? How is that possible if Charlie's drumming is featured on a couple of the tracks? Drew

QuoteHairball Not bad. Better than Don't Stop, but it's a bit reminiscent of Cyndy Lauper's Girls Just Want to Have Fun, or some other bouncy '80's pop hit...maybe something from Huey Lewis and the News. +1 Yes, at first listen, "Angry" is a nice, bouncy, safe-as-milk pop song. Catchy and likeable, I suppose. But I'm hoping other tracks on the alb

QuoteRocky Dijon I recall hearing a lot of the album described as "soulful," but we've also heard it's eclectic. That's really an accurate description for most Stones albums. You don't want all open-G rockers or another album of blues covers or all country or even a fast and slow side again. To me, it's never about what genre they're playing, it just matter

She famously "canoodled" with Mick Jagger. QuoteROPENI The well's run dry, and therefore Andrew Watt came in to save the day, but at this stage nothing will do, the album will be talked about for a couple of weeks and is over.... It will be interesting to see what happens to the Stones new release when Taylor Swift's new one is launched on October 27. An epic battle between two phenomenally successful acts from two very differ

QuoteRocky Dijon Quotepeoplewitheyes Counting in a song sounds like such a cliché, I was disappointed to hear that If I'm honest I was disappointed the second I heard the drums and guitar. I was really hoping for a polka. And then when Mick sang in English, I mean we've had sixty years of almost everything sung in English. I was really hoping for German or Polish this time. Post of

Ok people, what if someone asked you to fill in the blank here? If there is ONE thing I hope for on the new Stones album, it is __________. --> How would you fill in the blank? <-- For me, it would be "lots of raunchy harp from Mick and suspended chords from Keith". Drew

QuoteBjorn I think this is pretty much it. The verse and the chorus will have these B-E-chords - just a bridge between. Like Sweet Thing, Let´s Work, Miss You and a lot of Jaggers solo stuff. Repetitive, something you can dance to. And I dont mind. Just my three cents. And I love that they have a producer, at last - that makes them sound BIG! Like on Steel Wheels. Reverb. It feels like 1989 again
