QuoteMathijs Quotewith sssoul that's odd (at least odd! ) - all the sources i've read say that L5S was Ronnie's and that Keith borrowed it for the Winos tour Correct, and Wood had that guitars since at least '84. I don't know anything about its origins, but it was not a custom shop: that didn't exist yet. Mathijs I'm pretty sure they both have(had?) a

QuoteSleepy City Quotetomk I'm not interested in comparing him to Allman, Taylor, Cooder, Harrison, etc, Or Brian Jones, the greatest of 'em all? I've always found Ronnie's slide playing a bit ropey (those 1978 live versions of Love In Vain are painful!), though not without it's charm. Brian's slide playing shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breat

Quotelettingitbleed In addition to the songs mentioned above, I can think of Memory Motel (capo on 2nd fret), Wanna Hold You, and Before They Make Me Run. Huh? I'm pretty sure that Keith doesn't use a capo on any of those 3 songs.

If he's auctioning off guitars, I need to come up with some serious scratch ASAP! Anyone want to buy a 56 Black Beauty, a 52 Tele, or a 58 ES 350T?

QuoteSleepy City Quotefiftyamp I heard it was one of JLL best live shows in the last 20 years. People exaggerate. There's clips on YouTube, & while he seems in slightly better form than he's usually been over the past 2 or 3 years (no doubt inspired by having a top band behind him), it can no way compare to the shows he was doing even in 2004, let alone 1991... Incidentally th

I don't have a set list. A friend went to the show, and I'll catch up with him over the weekend. Where is 3rd man? I lived in Nashville a few years back, but can't place it.

The Killer played a private show at JAck White's 3rd man records in Nashville last weekend. He was backed by a band including Steve Cropper and Jim Keltner. Bobby Keys was there, but didn't play. Keith and McCartney were listing in on a private audio feed. I found out too late to attend, but I heard it was one of JLL best live shows in the last 20 years.

Here's a Keith/Paul Simon similarity: Both, as well as Ronnie, own a black solid body Gibson L5S. I think they only made 7 black ones. Rare as hen's teeth.

QuoteTeddyB1018 Keith has been in the studio in New York playing guitar on several tracks for Tom Waits' new album. This seems fishy. Tom records in CA, not NY. The great Tom Waits blog Eyeball Kid has no mention of this. They're usually on the ball with any Waits news.

QuoteChrisM Quotefiftyamp I looked into that about 6-7yrs ago. Cat wanted $500k. Amazing guitar. Do you mean you got to play it fiftyamp? If so details please! Unfortunately, I didn't get to play it. I just had some back and forth with the owner. $500k was a bit out of my price range.

Quote71Tele I never liked Strats as Stones guitars. Too bland. Teles are better, and my favorite Stones combination was KR with a Tele and MT with a Les Paul. I generally agree, but Keith sounds awesome on that Mary Kay.
