The Joe Ely Band live from about 1985 until 1990 with David Grissom on guitar, Bobby keyes on sax, Davis McClarty on drums and Neil Pettit on bass. White hot...you had to be there...

What is the second verse of Honky Tonk Women on Ya-Ya's? It sounds like "I was strolling down the boulevards of Paris..." Thanks!

ChelseaDrugstore, I've been hearing it since I got the record (when I was 10) and am ow convinced it is a Marshall Chess overdub. Perhaps they used horns from a 1970 European show (you can hear them in the boot from Leeds)

Ever see Mick go from one side of the stage to the other and, about half away across, just stop and do a snake charmer move? My girlfreind screamed when he did it during Tumbling Dice in 98!

I enjoy the present, don't want him to repeat specific things, but just put more vocal accents in (just as I like Keith to keep playing cool licks)...

No doubt about it, Mick is the ultimate front man. But I do miss the frequent little extras of "well, well" or "alright sister" or maybe the best one from Live Me Me on Ya-Ya's "ah-ah-ah"...it is part of what set him above all the other frontmen. I was lucky enough to catch them at Staples Centerin LA in 2002 when he seemd to do a lot more than usual and the c

Long songs allow the Stones room to jam and play off of each other (with the possible exception of Miss You whose endings post 1981/82 have been lousy). Also, I think Mick ups it more than a notch when he can act out the songs character. So, Midnight Rambler, Out of Control, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking...

In fairness to them, they should probably have someone from the organization review it from time to time for ideas. Just as a politician would go crazy trying to solicit and then please eveyone's opinion, its probably best that they stay once removed from it all.

There are strong opinions posted from time to time about Dirty Work and very few about Undercover. I liked Undercover when it came out and still do (for instance, Pretty Beat Up and Feel On Baby have great grooves and She Was Hot oozes sex). Thoughts from y'all?

Alejandro Escovedo is one talented musician. In addition to Sway, he does a great live version of Evening Gown and he and his band do a great job capturing what could be called a Stonesy sound without it being just a copy. One big difference between seeing Alejandro and seeing the Stones (the obvious notwithstanding)...Alejandro, like many other club level bands, breaks the momentum of what w

Rolling Stones magazine at the end of 1977 rightful gave Charlie the "best drumming" of the year for "his totally cool playing on Crackin' Up." Perfect highhat throughout the entire song...perfect...perfect...groovin-perfect...

Mick's coat, hat, and sunglasses during Love Is Strong (and sometimes Sympathy) was great...and the suspenders in LA Staples '02 were becoming...if only Chuck would ditch the shiny stuff which does not suit him AT ALL...and Keith keep the headband!

amoody is right...bring back a real piano! An electric piano looks like a damn toy and is akin to the notion of Mick singing with a headset instead of a microphone. An electric also doesn't fit with the look of the other instruments...Charlie's great Gretch set, Keith and Ron's guitars... I know tuning a real one adds some work to the show, but come on...money and effort well
