I found the 1999 No Security shows to be among ther best. With one exception (the Chicago show in March) they were simply incredible. Tight when it called for it, loose hen it called for it, and very intense. The most underrated tour in hindsight IMHO.

The performance of it in New Orleans, 1994, was pretty damn good...not so on the last go-around...

Is it just me or do you find a certain blandness to the tone of records from Alligator? Good playing, mind you, but a bland overall sound...

T&A, I am now red-faced! And "blaze a trail" fits Freddie King so well. On the subject of Kings, here a funny bit I once heard on the radio. A DJ played three songs in a row...Switching to Glide by the Kings, Killer Queen by Queen, and Dirty Mind by Prince. He said "How's that for some music royalty? And now let's follow it up with a little "Serf/Surf&q

Yes, yes, yes on Albert King! I remember being introduced to him on his tour bus in 1980...what a gentleman...and his Live in S.F. record is fantastic, not to mention his version of Honky Tonk Woman... and speaking of Alberts...what about Albert Collins?

The stages are not as high as they used to be and the working area including the side runways of the stages has been getting smaller...especially the arena stages. But to answer your question, I has 2nd in the Bridges tour and saw Charlie just fine...

I understand that the same guy who has been doing their previous tours is on again. My understanding is that he is keen on a clear sound and tells Keith he has to "tighten it up" when he plays. I like the clear sound but yes, the guitars are TOO LOW!

Do the Stones sell CDs at the merchandise stands at shows? If not, imagine how many Bigger Bang dics they would sell after a show...it would be number 1 throughout the tour! Perhaps there is some sort of restriction with retail outlets but, if there isn't, it would be a great sales opportunity (and they can contact me to give me some On-Stage tickets for the tip!)

With so many seats $350-$450 a pop, it's little wonder. If all tickets were $75-$100, I bet they could sell out any stadium in any major city for at least two shows...probably a half a dozen in NYC. This obviously won't happen, and its a shame because it does keep alot of fans and younger people away.

But wouldn't an eight minute guitar jam version of Little Queenie (or any other Berry-esque tune) be the best?

On Better Be Good To Me, Tina Turner does a fun Mick imitation when she sings/says "Stand, face to face..." Reminds me so much of Mick live in 75/76! And Billy Joel in "You May Be Right" when he says "aw, don'y try to SAAaaave me..." another Mick job!

For some including me, it is not how proficient someone might beat a particular instrument, it is about producing a sound that is appealing on many levels. That individually and collectively the Stones have their own sound is a large part of what makes their music so special. Regarding chord changes and solos, it seems to me the very nature of a solo is to go off on one's own...so what

StonesTod, That's the one. I rememeber hearing it on the radio for the first time and the DJ cautioned "This one will tear your face clean off!" On a more tender side, Buddy's version of It Feels Liek Rain is, I think, the best soul song of the 1990s.
