We've recently started playing this in our set. I play it on acoustic guitar in open g tuning but I play it on 5th fret (C/F) which means I can play the 'open'g at the bottom (ie no string fretting needed) in the chorus and alternate it with the g chord on the 12th fret, along with the c chord at the 12th/14th fret. I have to say it sounds very good tuned this way.....

Just to comment on the open g tuning - we (Stikkyfingers) play this in open g tuning - in the style of Still Life rather than the record. This leads to an interesting Em chord that I play on the 7th fret but leaving the thin D string ringing. It sounds very cool, and slightly unusual, but it fits the song well.

The fact that most of them sound nothing like Keith or the song they're trying to play (Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women, YCAGWYW etc) doesn't seem to faze them.
