In terms of sound, all the 1981 soundboard tapes are raw mono except these : - Both Pontiac (Detroit) shows are available in stereo but lossy as it comes from Wolfgang's Vault mp3 encoded livecast. - Phoenix : true stereo. Almost complete tape except for JJF first verse - Hampton : of course perfect stereo on the official bootleg release

Quotetoomuchforme Quotephd Quotetoomuchforme the 5 shows could be - one from 70 (Paris because Europe 1 radio has some @#$%& great masters) or 71 as this tour is not officially documented - a 75 show would be great : LA (I like "welcome to the chinese restaurant" which is 9 july) or the one with Clapton - 77 El Mocambo unreleased parts ? - Hampton 81. Yes we have some kind of perf

QuoteStonesTod Quote999 No bonus track on the Japanese edition as confirmed by Universal Japan : the question is: which bonus track are they not putting on the japanese edition? I know from a reliable source (but I don't name names...) they've worked and finished 17 tracks but only released 12. I don't have the details of those 5 extra tracks but was hoping to see at leas

This is mono. BTW this great boot sounds exactly as what I heard (almost front row) at this gig : Keith extremely high in the mix and almost no Ronnie !

QuoteDragonSky What was the Virgin CD reissue - the correct speed or the sped up speed? The Virgin CD has the sped-up tempo. AFAIK the "correct" tempo is only to be found on the new Japanese SACD release (which also has a longer Luxury and a slightly longer Times Waits For No One)

I also listened to this brand new SACD release of IORR and was amazed by Fingerprint File. It is much slower (total lenght 7.02 instead of 6.33) but Jagger's voice actually sounds more real than on the up to now released version. I had never heard this version (also not on bootlegs).

QuoteFreeBird Steve Hoffman himself seems to have some issues with this release: His issue seems to be about the flat transfer and, following him, a missed opportunity to do do some corrections here and there... I can tell you this release is fantastic. It has nothing to do with the ability of hearing new details. You just feel the record in a brand new way !

Sticky Fingers is now out in Japan in SHM-SACD format. This release has nothing to do with the Universal 2009 remasters . This is a new DSD flat transfer from analogue master tapes done by Mick McKenna and Richard Whittaker. I haven't listened to it yet but it looks like the people who have, quite enjoy this release :

The TV special version (= source of But Naked VGP071) was edited. The Wild Horses single version wasn't.

QuoteToru A The bottom line is that they ( albums from Sticky to Tatto You are on line ) are not Hybrid SACD. Sound quality is indeed superb! Do you mean all studio albums between Sticky Fingers and Tattoo You will be released in SHM-SACD on May 25th ? Or just Sticky Fingers first on May 25th and the other ones later (when ?) ?

SACD is not dead yet. New titles keep coming in Japan or in the US. I bought a SACD player 3 years ago and still think it's great for people like me who care about the sound and like to collect discs (instead of downloading files). To 24FPS about the Who, the SHM-SACD of Who's Next is really great. According to what I read on Steve Hoffman's forum, it will be a new masteri

Has some IORR audiophile compared these 2 SACD releases : the 2002 Let It Bleed SACD edition and the recent japanese SHM-SACD (expensive) one ? Thanks for your comments !

Quotedeardoctor ... i like the B-side of the "like a rolling stone"-Maxi from 1995 (Brixton) ... This version comes from the second Paradiso gig (27/05/1995). All Down The Line wasn't played in Brixton. Great version anyway !

QuoteWhale One question. The impression I get is that the japanese super de luxe version ( the one that contains the dvd ) does not have the bonus track ( i.e the alternate ADTL ) Is that true? No. It seems the disc 2 of this box has 11 tracks as well :

Quotedcba Is it true that Pontiac's Rebellion is mp3 sourced? The source is the Wolfgang's Vault broadcast which I think is mp3 encoded. The same applies to Mission Direct Hits. Both releases are in stereo. Anyway the performance on Pontiac's Rebellion is fantastic !

Quotealimente In an interview with (if I recall it right) a german guitar player magazine Chris Kimsey stated that the Stones instructed him to go through the archives and find releasable material for the Voodoo Lounge project, if not for the album, at least for use as singles b-sides. He said that he found "a handful of tracks" and specifically mentioned So Young, Fiji Jim, Shame Shame
