Thanks, I'm looking for the 69 versions. They'll probably surface in a few years. BTW: Is the Hyde Park disc the complete show?

Potted shrimp, I am looking for a studio version of Loving Cup that is 1969 or earlier. I have those 3 discs and the versions sound like they were recorded during the Exile sessions. Am I mistaken?

I find the song selection very interesting for this show. Naturally the songs are all songs Brian played on except a few. The fact that they payed Down Home Girl, Im Hers-She's Mine, Loving Cup, and No expectations but didn't use them for the US tour is strange. It leads me to ask a few quesions: 1) Was this seen by the Stones as a warm up gig for the US tour? 2) Did Brian play o

I never knew that Brian never played solos except for slide. I have been listening to the pre Jimmy Miller stuff for the last 2 weeks and I have now developed a new admiration for Keith's playing. I always thought that it was Brian on Down the Road Apiece,Heart of Stone, It's All Over Now,It's not Easy etc.. I would be interestd to learn about who played what parts on songs like Cr

Take i easy..there is no bashing of Brian here. I simply feel that he didn't have a truely distinctive sound. I think he was a brilliant musician. I was listening to Aftermath yestrday and couldn't help notice how strong his acoutic guitar playing was. High and Dry and Out of Time really come to mind. I think we all know it WAS Brian's band to start with. I've always wonde

Good point, Hot Stuff. I never looked at it that way. But you would think that by 1967 he would have developed his own sound and I just don't hear it.

I've been listening to the Brian Jones Stones discs lately. One thing that came to mind is that Brian's guitar playing that with the exception of his slide work, sort of lacked a truely distinctive sound or style. When ones hears Clapton, Beck, Page, Keith, Dave Davies, Ronnie, or other guitarists from his era (yes I know , Ronnie played bass) you know it's that guitarist immediatl

Good Idea....she knows Casino and GoodFellas and Stones songs are in those. SOmeone posted a while back that the Stones wouldn't make it if they were a "new " band today and with their recent releases, I must agree. I just don't see a lot of 23 year olds buying Exile. Take it easy on the coffee.....that stuff will kil ya

Well, I don't know if the Stones care about reaching new 23 year old fans (except for groupie purposes). But like you say...what songs could turn on a 23 year old who listens to Usher, BLack Eyed Peas, and white bands that wear skull caps? Start Me up? Gimmie Shelter? Miss You? She Thought that Hold On To Your HAt was cool baecause it was loud and hard. I don;t know if Satisfaction or J

Doxa, I'm relaxed bacuase I've lived a good life. Seen the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World a few times. Have a lot of good friends, great family,so I figure it's better to go via capital punishment than to just have my body explode while driving to dinner from past abuses of the late 70s and 80s. I can see what my daughter meant by the "old guys" remark becua

My 11 year old son likes Take it or Leave it, Stupid Girl (of course) and doncha bother me. I think it's an age thing with my duaghter...23 years old. Hip Hop, Rap and R&B. She thinks she has "street cred" becasue she lives in NYC . Steel Wheels is poorly produced. I have the "clean" sound of it. Even Hearts for Sale could have been really nasty but it seems to cle

I picked my 23 year old daughter up at the airport last night. I was listening to Steel Wheels, (which I have never really cared for) and my daughter wanted to know who the band was. She liked the song Hold on to your Hat but thought the rest was boring. She felt that the Stones sounded like a bunch of old guys trying to come to grips with their age. I thought about it and it seems to me that

People People....Can we all just cool out? 1) Thank you to those who feel that I generally post relevant topics. I again apoligize to those who were offended. I never meant to offend anyone. It's just that things are slow in Stoneland right now. 2) To jostorm: Me posting that type of picture would be considered abuse by any human rights commission 3) Based on cover art and promo pos

My wife has just informed me that this post may be offensive to some people (espcially cat lovers). To them , I apologize for this insincere, grotesque image. To those of you who are not offended, if we ever meet, I'll buy the first Jameson (or whatever your pleasure) as I have found a friend for life!

Wait a minute.............they are playing a "charity" concert for an Allman Brothers Museum? Is is me or is this ridiculous? Aren't these guys millionaires or close to it? Are you telling me that collectivley these people can't raise enough money to house some guitars, empty whiskey bottles, and old concert posters? They need to play a concert so people can spend thier money

As many of you may know I am a great lover of animals. We have found a lovely cat and we put her up for adoption as I am allergic to cats. She is no trouble at all, eats very little and frankly, seems to enjoy the outdoors. Below is a picture of her. Please open it up and just take a look. Let me know if you are interested and we can make plans to pick her up. --------------

Something else that is a must have is anything you can find from Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell. Most of their stuff is out of print but you can probably get it on eBAy. I just picked up 2 discs from Germany that are phenominal. Clapton has covered them a few times

An oldie but a goodie! Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their new wives duties. The first man had married a woman from England and bragged that he had told his wife she was going to do all the dishes and house cleaning. He said it took a couple days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were done. The second man had married

I like Keith's guitar on this one but it sounds like he'd need to be sober to play it for real.
