The piano intro from Loving Cup, when my wife is calling. Fantastic ringtone, one of the most recognizable intro's from the Stones. Oh, no, they have a lot of recognizable intros! But this one from Loving Cup is actually really great and is never annoying! Standard tune (ringtone) for the rest of my contacts: A sample from Terrifying (12" Dance Remix); It's a sample with the tro

I really don't like the sound of the album... where is the warmth like on Still Life or Love You Live? Live Licks is as thin as hell, just like Shine A Light is really thin. There is no bass. Bad productions in my opinion! Great songs though. But sometimes real sloppy playing.

Quoteliddas Reading some comments, one has the impression that Keith hardly plays the guitar anymore. Could someone post examples of Keith posing and NOT playing (save when he sings his set)? I can't remember much of them. Actually I can't remember any. Every single show I've seen or heard from the ABB tour, Keith's guitar always made the song, for the good or the bad.

If they tour again, and it will be something like playing a lot of songs of Exile, than I hope they will sound as dirty/filthy as that album. The Stones sound too clean the last 20 years (allthough I actually liked the sound of the Steel Wheels/Flashpoint tour, but that was clean and mean, had a lot of power in their sound). The sound of Shine A Light comes close, but I like it more filthier o

The best ever version of Gimme Shelter live! The intro by Keith nails it! Keith and Ronnie at their weaving best! Spectacular version! No Security version is so lame.. no power, missing guitar parts most of the time.

Quotestonesrule I have come to really, really like the SAL version of "Loving Cup" with Jack White. Yeah, well, then where was the rhythm part of the guitar? That really significant rhythm part in Loving Cup (which was played on the original and by Mick Taylor in the live video, see youtube)? And really, that piano intro by Chuck sounds like wood... a f*^*&* scandal! Great they

219. Re: Piano
I disagree: With rock'n'roll a real piano must be used!

Don't forget Joshua with his fantastic piece of music on Waiting On A Friend from No Security. I love Sonny Rollins on Tattoo You... (Slave and Waiting). But hey, they are jazz musicians. They should do that again on a future studio album, a great sax part.

Ronnie plays fantastic! I think the weaving between Keith and Ronnie is also great here. Minor on the movie is that is 90% Mick Jagger we see in view, meanwhile missing a lot of the solo from Ronnie and Keith. Loved to see more of them playing! Champagne and Reefer with Buddy Guy is the absolute highlight! What a charisma that Guy has! Played very well by all of the Stones.

222. Re: Piano
Of course, but they could hire a piano locally where they perform that night.

223. Re: Piano
Well, that's also my point: Chuck really has his moments with his keyboard. On some songs it works. But with the blues and rock 'n' roll songs you really need a piano, no keyboard. The piano on Street Fighting Man from Stripped is indeed great. Another example: The intro to This Place Is Empty. I think it should have been a piano, that would be more charming. Now it sounds cheap

That is possible. But how did they do that till 1982? And surely they can affort to hire a piano tuner?

Ïs there any way to convince the Stones to use a real piano instead of a keyboard-piano? Cause that would really be great and benefit their sound, as well in studio as on stage! For example (and this one is really obvious for no real music lovers): Listen to Loving Cup on Exile and Shine A Light. And I hate that "pling pling" sound of the piano... for example Champagne And Reefer

What really caught my attention is: The excellent weaving/interplay between Ron and Keith. I think Ron plays outstanding on this album... Keith is great as the rhythm player, not that great as the lead player (i.e. some of is solos), but their playing together is really a treat on this one. Someone mentioned the excellent bass by Darryl on Start Me Up. I agree: a real treat from Darryl, also

I am also very interested in a decent or rather great studio recording by any artist I like. In case of the Stones it is a disaster sometimes how bad the production sound, how thin, no nuances. Especially the live albums are really different in quality: Love You Live is very warm, upfront, full. Live Licks and Shine A Light are very thin compared to Love You Live. Why is that? I am no audi

Get rid of Chuck. Get a real piano on stage, no electric piano. Get a boogie woogie piano player. More backup vox from Keith and Ron. Especially Loving Cup must be played more bluesy, and this time with the original electric rhythm part and harmony vox by Keith and backup singers. Also with a boogie woogie/blues pianist the intro can't be a mess anymore (it sounded so terrible. Get rid o

I think of the re-arrangement of this song their best performance was on Ya Ya's, but the 2002 live version Toronto, as shown above, is really really great, a great version of the original.

Soundwise this is a great album... The same league as Tattoo, It's Only R'n'R, Black And Blue... great studio recordings. Only miss Bill Wyman's bass!

Quotetoomuchforme I am not found of the polite sound of today like on "live licks". Let's saturate the guitars and have some feedbacks Agreed: The sound since Live Licks is pretty lame/bad... including Shine A Light.. it just doesn't sound right, I cannot point the precise problem with that sound..

Great song!!! Love It! Fantastic ending together with Sexdrive on Flashpoint! Honky Tonk rhythm-a-like.. this is classic Keith rhythm, though it came from Mick, which is great.

Fantastic song! I would love it if the Stones would make an example of the mix of the bass and drums on this album (Steel Wheels).. it's superb... great mix. Since Darryl participated, they buried the bass, on every album, well.. except maybe Bridges (with Anybody Seen and Out Of Control, where the bass is the riff).

QuotegeorgelicksQuoteMuddyw The soundtrack EXCELLENT quality?? The sound is really bad: it's flat, chaotic, it has no dynamics, no warmth... Listen to Love You Live and you can hear how bad Shine a Light actually sounds! Come on, I'm listening the CD right now at full volume and it rocks like hell. How old are these guys? 64? My father has 62 and barely can walk. I am not talking

QuotestickydionSAL is an excellent live album (i haven't seen the movie, yet). Rocking, energetic, raw. I know that we have different opinions here and sometimes the differences are really huge. I enjoy these disagreetments. But still i can't understand people who consider Love You Live as a great live stuff. To me LYL is the worst Stones live album ever (first of all, because of Mick).
