Too clean. And some arrangements were horrible. Streetfighting man...help! But Atlantic City is cool.
Exactly...It was Vegas...all lights and a stage that was way too big. In retrospect it is my least favourite tour. Nothing memorable....except those blow-up dolls during HTW. Forum: Tell Me

Some girls knew it was the best-selling album (leaving out compilations), but I'm glad to see VL right behind LIB, I always thought it's a great album.
...and proof that VL was a great 2nd comeback album.... Forum: Tell Me

otoh going to see the GD and not caring one bit about the music is a wise thing to do, right? ><
It was a buddy who took ('dragged') me to a couple of shows. It was more fun than I had thought and the music was okay...not exactly a rock and roll show. But it did 'turn me on' on to their music...a bit, lol...I remember them doing really nice and extended cover Forum: Tell Me
I saw the Dead several times in the 1980's when they became very trendy and baby boomers flocked on road trips to be at their concerts and recapture their hippie days. It was a lot of fun but it seemed that it was more about the experience of being there and wearing a cool tye-dye tee-shirt than about the music. Forum: Tell Me

They promoted this as the most influential songs in classic rock.
If thats how they promoted it then it's a joke that "Like a Rolling Stone is not in the Top 10. Knockin on Heaven's Door at 5? What did the heck did that influence? Forum: Tell Me
Listen...as a passionate Stones fan I will concede top spot to the Beatles...The Beatles influenced EVERYTHING and just look at the music produced by John, Paul, George and Ringo as solo artists...compared to the Stones...and I prefer the latter. Forum: Tell Me

Can somebody explain why the Beatles are in the top 1000 of best "rock" songs?
Probably because they turned on, influenced and inspired most of the other bands on the list... Forum: Tell Me
I know most people here hate these countdowns but it's always interesting to see what they come up with. Yesterday SiriusXM did their countdown and this is what they came up with.

As far as our favourite band is concerned their top song 'Sympathy For the Devil' came in at #6. Satisfaction, which I think should have been #1 came in at a shocking #73! In betwe Forum: Tell Me

AC/DC is the 2nd Best Rock Band in History.

They are pretty good for about any 3 songs,lol...after that they become one of the worst.... Forum: Tell Me
I always enjoy reading your posts, hopkins...The Sex Pistols forced the Stones to revitalize themselves in 1978...and for that I am grateful... Forum: Tell Me
I was taken aback at the end of the video when Lydon got emotional and exclaimed that his wife, Nora Forster had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Forster is 15 years older than Lydon and would be 77....and they have been married for 40 years. Forum: Tell Me
Lol!...Now that's entertainment! Johnny was full of himself but was spot on with his comments. It's true. The Pistols were a political punk band while the Ramones were a fun punk band. Two different animals. By the way, Marky Ramone seemed to have started that whole flare-up with Lydon. That was an obvious shout to the Kinks' 'You Really Got Me' as the first, great punk s Forum: Tell Me

The 2002 dual layer SACDs from ABKRO when played on a good system with a SACD player will sound as good as can be. You will hear a difference between the redbook layer and the SACD layer.
If you want the best sounding Rolling Stones CD's, then you want these releases.
Happy hunting !!!!!!!!

I certainly don't want to be the "get off my lawn" grouchy old man, but man, wasn't being a child in the 60's and a teenager in the 70's great?!?
Absolutely...and for baby boomers it has continued right into our senior years. We're a big group.... Forum: Tell Me

Good grief. Joan Baez beat him to it with the "Fare Thee Well" BS. Just what we needed.
So maybe cut him some slack in view of the most recent news. I was never a fan, but I feel very bad for him and admire his attitude.
THere is no reason to be crabbed about Baez, Frampton or any other classic era artist/group going out on tour. Most play small v Forum: Tell Me
Maybe there just isn't enough material for a dedicated channel? The Beatles channel plays a lot of John, Paul, George and Ringo solo recordings...and there's a lot. The Grateful Dead and the Springsteen channels play a vast amount of unreleased live stuff. But even those two get tedious after a while. The Beatles channel is the only one that cne play a diverse and varied stream of music Forum: Tell Me

Platinum flex pricing rather than the standard ticket price. This show actually appears to be selling rather well.
