QuoteChris Fountain QuoteThePaleRider QuoteChris Fountain I recommend this movie - but it is very sad, dark and real I feel like I've seen too many of this type of movie. I have a rapidly diminishing interest in spending good time and money on an evening so I could get depressed, no matter how good the performance. To me, movies are a redemptive escape from the real world. Last night

The Who put on a pretty great performance in Toronto last night. The backup orchestra was a nice addition for the 'rock opera' sections but the band only seemed to really catch their old fire and fury during the middle set without them. There were a lot of shouts of 'Forget the orchestra!', 'There you go! Who needs then!', lol. Still, it was a really good show. Roger

Start Me Up was a gift from the Rock Gods...that silly song was a practically a career saver for the band that propelled them through for the next 20 years...

Ok, it's somewhat depressing but it interprets well the tone most of us 'baby boomers' are feeling. I too, feel fortunate to have grown up and older with rock and roll in the background. I like his thesis...that rock and roll is simply defiance against the dying of the light. If that's the case, then let it be. We can listen to, talk about and live rock and roll to our last da

QuoteWorriedAboutYou QuoteGasLightStreet The Stones haven't done anything near as interesting as The Beatles with any reissues yet alone anthologies. After all, Mick can't be bothered with the past, even though he insists on sticking to it with the current greatest hits review set list. The Some Girls and Exile reissues SMOKE anything The Beatles have released. This Abbey Road (YAW

Quotejlowe Quotedoitywoik Yeah, the funny thing is that back in the day, Bob Dylan stood for everything Frank Sinatra didn't stand for ... yet now singing his songs ... seems like things comming full circle ... (can it be unbroken? ) I thought Sinatra was life long Democrat.Allthough I believe he may have had a tiff with the Kennedys...not sure. What Dylan is politically? Pure guesswor

QuoteTheflyingDutchman Completely different tune. Robin Millar: Mick told us he was leaving the Stones because he couldn’t justify, in his own mind, being given so much adulation and money to basically play three cords. Rose, and I sat up all night trying to dissuade him, but failed. After all these years, after all the mystery.....this is the real reason?

QuoteXam QuoteShott Down front in Chicago the view was constantly obscured by about 1/3 of the people holding up their big phones to film. Should be banned or at least shamed. Live in the moment folks, buy the DVD there surely will be one. Take one photo to prove to your friends on FB you were there. Some random morning-after musings... Good show! I see no problem withe band continuing on for at least a couple of more years. Mick still at the top of his game. Ron and Keith look like they have to concentrate real hard to get it right and struggled a couple of times but it was okay....they need to smile more. Charlie was effortless, as usual. Great crowd reaction to HTW, MY, SMU. Satisfactio

Quotebuffalo7478 Main reason I won't be going. 6 hours or more roundtrip on a bus or buses. I also hear the venue turns into a mud pit with any rain, and the mosquitos in June are everywhere. Well, maybe bring boots, mosquito repellent and a plastic sheet because there's about a 30-40% chance of rain throughout the week. Thanks for the heads up on that! Saturday looks good though!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My Lucky Dip ticket for Burl's Creek cost me $39.50. The Parking Pass for the day is going to cost me $49.50! Boy, the Burl's Creek people...when they've got you cornered with no real options they really know how to squeeze every last dime out of you!

QuoteDandelionPowderman They were chasing trends with Buttons, Satanic, Beggars, Bleed, SF and Exile, too. I don't see Exile as chasing any trend prevalent at the time. What did Mick once say...Exile was a 'hangover from the 60's'. I always liked that phrase. It kind of explains the whole rock scene in the early '70's. Wait a minute...is that a trend then afer

Having lived through the era I find I have zero interest in seeing either one of Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman...and I mean ZERO interest...and I like Elton and Queen. I have to agree with hopkins that these movies are for those that weren't born yet. Like them, my interest is in rock biopics of people before my time on Earth like Elvis, Chuck, Jerry Lee, Buddy, Ritchie....and all the rest.

QuoteHMS ...Most important thing is: The songs are GREAT, b-u-t the performance is lame, weak and a pale shadow of former glory. You see them onstage, you hear the GREAT songs and think you are at a great concert, but you aren´t. All you get is a distant echo of the past. Roger´s voice live lasts for three or four songs (at best) then it´s done. The live atmosphere, uneven live-sound and nostalgi

QuoteHMS The group of musicians that travels as "The Who" is suffering from lack of energy, passion and last not least credibility. And their lead singer´s voice isn´t more than 35% of what it used to be (sad but true, listen to several live albums they released since 2000). Btw, Pete nowadays sings horrible too. He´s rather bawling than singing. Nobody cares...I saw them in 2016

QuoteHMS Quotekeefriff99 Roger has a great head of hair. That´s almost all he has to offer these days. These two guys who call themselves The Who although they aren´t should retire as soon as possible. Haven´t seen them live since 1989 but their last live albums (Hyde Park, Quadrophenia) were very very weak and disappointing. No Moonie, no Ox, no The Who. I would never ever pay a lousy dime for
