QuoteHis Majesty My worst book votes go to... Jeremy Reed - The Last Decadent An awful, bollocks, absolute load of shite book. An arena large enough to hold the scale of my agreement with you does not exist. The only reason I have not shredded my copy is that I keep it to show people what sort of narcissistic crap is written by people who know zero about such an important subject.

QuoteHis Majesty "I will send the cassette to you as soon as possible. Your contact has stirred some memories, I think the tapes contain nazi speeches set to experimental music. There's only about 30 minutes of music." I think that any value of these tapes, other than archival & historic just vanished. There isn't a reputable organisation on the planet that would

QuoteMILKYWAY QuoteCaptainCorella and, this book about Robert Fraser - Groovy Bob - as much for the Stones' association, as for it being a superbly written book. Huh? My copy of Groovy Bob is a collage of various quotes about Robert Fraser from various people, mostly celebrities. Page after page of quotations. A paragraph about Bob from Paul McCartney, followed by a paragraph from Denni

I find it totally impossible to have the tiniest bit of sympathy when the fabulously wealthy have another tax loohole closed! Get this straight... these people are avoiding tax by living in houses that are owned by companies that are set up with the sole aim of avoiding paying tax. How many registered users of IORR have basic incomes in the millions of dollars per year, and then live (rent/

Whether or not these reported recordings are "good" is largely a matter of subjective judgement. But, if confirmed, these have to be of genuine historic significance. There are very few recordings of the solo work of the founder of one of the major popular bands of the 20th Century - hence the significance. Knowing how audio tape physically decays with time, I really really h

There are accounts of seating places for Lucky Dip tickets for the postponed Perth (Australia) show actually being "released" before the show date. I find this really odd. Is it a misunderstanding by the (grumpy) poster, an artefact from the postponed show(s), a snafu, or something else? Anyone seen anything like this before?

QuoteHappy24 It is overloaded with "facts," which is probably intentional, Bill obviously wants to show off what an incredible record of everything and what a great memory he has, which he both emphasises on more than one occasion. Bill keeps a daily diary, and has done since long before he joined The Rolling Stones. His actual memory sometimes may be at fault - he's even ol

If you mean this photo (There's a good print of it on P48 of Rolling With The Stones) then the fact that both Charlie and Bill appear in it means that it cannot be before Charlie joined (12th Jan 1963), and Bill dates it as April 1963. If you mean another.... can you find it online and point to it?

But are the versions of "Miss You" remixes? I ask because I'm sure that I was told once that the two shorter versions are indeed remixes, but that the (wonderful, and who could resist the disgusting pink vinyl version!) long one is a completely different take? If only they would give a good archivist access to their session tapes the way that Mark Lewisohn was allowed access

I used to have a good working reel-to-reel (not as good at the TEAC in this thread though) and although I collected some excellent Beatles reel-to-reel commercial releases I never once saw a Stones' one. Maybe because I was in the UK at the time. I am though pretty sure that there are unique versions of Stones' recordings on 8-Track. From memory there's something unique about

QuoteZagalo Some Girls songbook - slightly larger than A4 (I have an A4 scanner) but comes out pretty well, I think... My last one is Stone Alone, "LP size" - I will have to work that one out! Not too hard if you have the right software. For this I use a free copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 that I got some years ago. You start by mentally dividing the LP cover into 4 &quo

Quoteozziestone First I've heard of Keith working in a post office or Brian hitching on the Continent for a year! Brian "smokes 60 cigarettes a day"-love it! You can't possibly take any of that stuff seriously. Bill "21" ... who were they kidding. QuoteRedhotcarpet Never seen this before. Mick says something about Little Richard. It says "Full concert video" - that is of course the full video and not the full concert. My ticket, yes I was there, says start at 12:30 (5th August 1972), and as it ended at 10:00pm (see later) the actual show was probably about 7 hours long. Imagine... Quotegotdablouse That would have to be stereo since the the only real/official Stones 5.1 mix available is "Sympathy For The Devil", the last track on the SFTD "Sample" SACD : - at the same time as the 2002 SACDs I believe. If in the event of a fire, or flood, I think that if I had to save just one piece of music from my collection the SA-CD 5.1 Surround Sound version of SF

Quotevox12string Love Chip Monck's idea of having the spots BEHIND the band pointing up to the mirror above them. Absolutely! It's an idea that's so simple that it's genius. It's surprising that it had not been used before, or since. It has to make things a lot easier for the setup - everything other than the mirror is easily accessible at ground level, and putting t

I saw the Counterfeit Stones 15yrs ago in the UK. I'll agree that they are/were good, but one thing amused me more than a little. The guy who did the Brian Jones part was clearly head & shoulders above the others in terms of his ability as a guitarist, and they did a totally amazing version of "The Red Rooster". So, how did they manage with the post 1969 songs? We

Check your history! Pete admits that he stole his windmill from Keith Richards. Early on The Who were supporting The Stones, and Pete saw Keith do a windmill backstage to loosen up his shoulder.

Quoterumple21 So young white-boy Michael J Fox invented the Chuck Berry sound ... oh dear issues issues issues! That's a bit unfair. The whole scene in the movie is tongue in cheek and in no way detracts any credit from Chuck Berry's. Fox no more "invents" the Chuck Berry sound than The Rolling Stones (or The Beatles) did when they covered the songs. Every time I see
