QuoteSpud QuoteCaptainCorella I'm just intrigued by the mention of an "Official" fan club. What have I been missing all these years? Last experience I had of any "official Fan Club" was that promoted on the release of Undercover in '83. On first release it came with a slip promoting the Rolling tones Official Fan Club. I dutifully sent off my submiss

QuoteNashvilleBlues ^ on the EP vs LP discussion, I have found no clear-cut criteria that makes something an EP vs an LP. Sleep’s Dopesmoker is a one song album that is an hour long. Circle Jerks’ Group Sex is 14 songs in 17 minutes. Categorize those! What about 12" singles? And I have at least one 7" single with more than one track on one of the sides... that's almost an EP!

Quotestargroover The Stones arrived in black limos and were shielded by white barriers as they entered the side door. The (fleet of) cars carrying what I assume were close family & friends from (I guess) their hotel all had a badge to identify them to get through checks/roadblocks. It read.... "The Empire Strikes Back" Nice on.

Quotefrankotero I had a funny thought. Wonder if any fans ever approached Peter Jackson and asked him to work his magic on bootlegs. I'd love to hear what he can do with Stuttgart 1999. He could be busy with this stuff the rest of his life. The answer to your first question is YES. Peter Jackson is a huge huge personal Beatles fan. I recently watched a long (Beatles oriented) podcast t

Quoteexilestones There's a logical train of thought that a release can't be better than the technology used. I discovered that the Tami Show's Blu-ray was far better than the previous DVD (a different company had the rights when Blu-ray was released). That makes a great deal of sense. But once you let Peter Jackson (and his team) near the product, they seem to be able to rever

If it was 25th December, then it's "TOTP". If it's 31st December then it's "Pop Go The Sixties". And all of this was SO close to Altamont (6th December), and the two shows at the Saville Theatre on 14th December. Extraordinary times.

Quotebv QuoteMisterO Frankie Valli is 90 and is still touring. Including performing three show's in three days in different cities. I hope to see him perform this September in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Who knows maybe the Stones have 10 plus years a head of them! Did you actually see Frankie Valli (age 90) live on stage? Don't forget that Wyman will be 88 in about 3 weeks time.

QuoteAquamarine I first saw her in the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, she had amazing longevity as an actress. And was super-cool till the very end. She was also wonderful in Alan Bennett's The Lady in the Van. I VERY much agree! Those are performances for which she should be remembered, rather than the Downton/Potter ones.

QuoteRockman But what gets me is if you're not happy with it why did you give it more oxygen ??? I never, ever, wrote that I was not happy. I'd bothered to read what you posted and I was admitting incomprehension and was seeking meaning in the placing of the posting. If you read my short query another way, then that's your problem.

QuoteRisingStone So the truth is The Sound of Music soundtrack outselling Sargent Pepper or Are You Experienced, let alone Their Satanic Majesties Request, in 1967. And the majority of the households had to be content with watching The Avengers or The Prisoner in black and white rather than in colour. So much for the swinging, isn’t it? Note This is NOT, double repeat NOT, a lame spelling f

QuoteIrix QuoteProfessorWolf time to transfer all those hard drives back to tape There would be far better solutions for long-term data preservation, e.g. laser-inscribed quartz glass which is durable for 1020 years. But such solutions are probably (very) expensive. But that would still be digital which would upset the analogue purists...

QuoteProfessorWolf time to transfer all those hard drives back to tape (digital tape that is) wikipedia.org Interesting sub-thread which perhaps should be cut out of the Beatles vs Stones and made free standing. If you live outside of the USA or the UK, then getting hold of a real hard copy of this album is something of a challenge. My copy finally arrived yesterday and I've now listened to it..... As ever Bill works with outstanding musicians. The band works really well, and Terry Taylor is, as usual, a standout. The music is just right - very blues influenced. Those are frequent observations
