QuoteChristiaan QuoteVoodooLounge13 I really had hoped that we'd get a deluxe blu-ray of all these old short films and their videos. That would have made a great item for the 60th!!! I’m no expert on this, but what would be the use of Blu-ray. Original it is nit filmed on high resolution. I think you can not get a better move then it was shot original. But I might be wrong. Until about

Quotebakersfield Sympathy for the Devil. You Can't Always Get What You Want Miss You (the 12" vinyl version sounds incredible) Darned good list. I'd suggest that you seek out the SACD 5.1 version of "Sympathy for The Devil" - it's on a special CD single that came out when the SACDs were released early this century. Now THAT's a song to test your

Quotetreaclefingers The "We're more popular than Jesus now" comment notwithstanding. Have you actually READ the full article/report in which John said what he said (it's with Maureen Cleave). I have a copy of the actual newspaper. The fuss and bother about it in the USA was confected medial led nonsense led by under and misinformed slavish followers of unprincipled an

RIP Mary Quant. From this distance in time it probably seems fanciful to connect a 'mere' clothes designer with what turned out to be a major upheaval in social norms. Many factors were ingredients in what overturned the conservative ways of the 1950's - and Dame Mary's contribution was very significant. The V&A had (have?) a touring exhibition of her work, and last

QuoteManofwealthandtaste Thanks for posting this Cristiano. I haven't listened to it yet but I may be able to throw some light on your 'bit of oddness' Captain Corella. A friend of mine was at Stowe at that time and was one of the boys who 'signed The Beatles' for the gig. (in other words arranged for a band to come and play a school pop concert) This was arranged the pr

QuoteCristiano Radtke The Beatles - Live at Stowe School, Buckingham, United Kingdom (April 4, 1963) Samira discovers a previously unheard recording of The Beatles historic gig for the boys at Stowe School on 4 April 1963. She visits the school to mark the 60th anniversary and talks to former pupil John Bloomfield, who was fifteen when he recorded the concert, the current headmaster Anthony Wa

Quoteds1984 The Rooftop Concert still sounds as an oddity to my ears. Can you explain that? To my ears it sounds like 4 very experienced players who genuinely enjoy playing live together doing it well and producing some good songs. I've watched it several times and I reckon I see mutual enjoyment and affection in what's going on on that rooftop.

Quotelem motlow I have seen the rooftop concert, I can’t lie.that was pretty damn good. Indeed. As well as the showing on Disney last year, I was also able to go and see it on the largest IMAX screen in the world. Mind blowing.

Quotelem motlow the old version shows them down and miserable so the Beatleheads are happy and like the new one better, is that correct? No. Whilst it is true that the old version shows arguments, it's by no means 90% of the time arguing. There are stretches when it's simply the Fabs in a studio trying to record songs, plus the Glory of the Rooftop Concert. The new versio

QuoteNICOS I'm totally not interested in a new version of the original Let It Be movie, it doesn't showed the atmosphere of the Peter Jackson version Ah! My brain obviously could not compute the meaning of the article as it was such a silly endeavour. Carefully remastering/remixing the albums with an obsessive attention to detail that hugely improves the recreation of the sound ma

QuoteManofwealthandtaste Interesting article, thanks Hairball. Of course, Giles Martin continues the good work.....currently on the soon to be released/remastered/recolourised Let It Be film. Eh? "soon to be released..." Was I imagining last year's release by Peter Jackson of a version that was about 8hrs long, Giles talking about how the technology developed for that ha

Before he lost possession of the record he made a photographic copy (of the labels) and created reproductions of the record (to frame and sell). We bought one as a wedding present to two Beatle Fan friends. The reproduction was carefully made so that the grooves in no way copied, or could be represented as being copied from the original. It did look good. Last time I saw the present it was

I went to the Brighton show, and indeed the only way for normal people get tickets was to queue all night outside a record shop that was nearby in Brighton's famous Lanes. The down side of that was that I missed seeing The Kinks who were in town that night. The up-side (other, than tickets of course) was that I was handed two posters - which are now more than averagely valuable. The Bri

Younger readers may be interested in the fact that last evening (March 2nd) Ed Sheeran beat his own record for attendance. He played to about 101,000 at the MCG in Melbourne (close to Rockman's back garden?). He'll beat it again tonight with an expected crowd of 107,000. For the record, I don't 'get' Ed Sheeran, but recognise that he's darned popular.

Also i think the first Brussels show was better than the second show which they officially released. 1972 and the Pacific Tour is so lacking in any great sounding official releases.
