I actually enjoy the first part of the song but get lost at the break towards the end. I don't know who mentioned it earlier (about the earlier take that runs around 6 minutes) but I actually really enjoy that version more. Quality take.

My brother says when he hears me pull up in the driveway he can tell if it's a stones song compared to anything else coz of the rhythm of the songs haha

QuoteCMH516 I posted this in another thread a while back, but I wonder if Ronnie Lane had remained healthy, would he have been a candidate to replace Wyman in the Stones? Something about a touring unit of Mick, Keith, Charlie, Woody, Lane, Mac and Bobby Keys just makes me smile. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought this! Nothing against chuck and darryl, but I love Plonk

Although I don't like very much of the dirty work album, I felt like with what they had available and a bit of refinement they could have released a decent album. Depending with how you want the track list to play (a fast and slow side, a mick and keith side or a reasonable mix on either side) you can still make a decent album. What I tried to do was stick as much to the stones formula

I probably listen to IGMOATD the most followed by the live at Kilburn with the First Barbarians the most so I would probably say they are my favourite. But I love all of his stuff up to and including 1234. Didn't really like anything again until some of his stuff from I Feel Like Playing (2010). He has some good collaborative efforts that not everyone knows about, Mahoney's Last Stan

Quotedmay I know it may start a stampede of "You don't know what in the hell you're talikn' 'bout" comments, but as I mentioned to the missus while listening to a soul music collection from the 1960s tonight as we swam in the pool (gets damned hot here in AZ), "We had much better music back then." Then I told her I sounded like an old phart, saying such a t

If I had to give a top ten (considering I am only 22 so my knowledge is still expanding). Stones obviously my number 1 but aside from them, my top 10 in no certain order: Faces Ronnie Wood Solo Ronnie Lane(and slim chance band) Alex Chilton Lou Reed Chuck Berry Bo Diddley Gram Parsons Beach Boys Big star I dabble with Bowie's earlier stuff for those wondering why low mention r

I think one of the most underrated losses the stones took to their sound was the reduced use of NIcky Hopkins. He was so great when he was around and so was the band as a whole so he kind of went unnoticed. It's kind of like a good drummer. You take it for granted when they are with you but you appreciate them a whole lot more when you have someone who isn't as good.

Hi Guys, First of all sorry if these have been answered elsewhere before but I have been dying of curiosity for years! 1) Does anyone know what song Mick is singing at the start of the @#$%& blues movie (starting around 7:50 mark) and if the stones recorded it in any form? 2) Who is the blond guy in the window that Mick and Keith walk past in the waiting on a friend music video? Is he

Would be really nice to see some artists band together and start their own label even. Give the middle finger to the existing major labels. Hopefully indie distributors/labels allow the artists to take back what they deserve. That being said, a lot of modern artists don't deserve any money for the rubbish they put out. Feel sorry for the good ones though.

Quotealhavu1 Sad story but they were sooooooooooo overrated I'm not gonna knock anyone who likes Nirvana, but I just can't understand the appeal myself. Seems to be a lot like punk music to me, a whole lot of style and not much substance. The songs I have heard have all been really bland/depressing to me, and not that great from a musical standpoint (to my untrained ears). I also f

That was really good to watch, thanks wellalright! It's nice to see Charlie actually speak his thoughts very an extended time rather than short comments that he does nowadays (tired from all the media I suppose).

To me a back to the roots style thing wouldn't have to be blues or whatever. To me, the difference between modern stones and some of the stones stuff in the 60s that I missed most was their acoustic or obscure tracks (e.g. you got the silver and something happened to me yesterday). If they did a bit more of that I would be really happy. I feel like no bands really do many good acoustic nu

R&R hall of fame is such a joke I can understand why some inductees have turned their nose at it. Green Day gets in this early but Lou Reed gets a posthumous induction? Yeah that makes great sense. So many subpar acts get in and so many more deserving potential inductees miss out. It is going to get even worse as well in coming times once all the terrible pop artists of the last 10-15 year

I think the other thing not mentioned so far is that all of the faces members were involved in the recordings a lot of his early work, and many of those successful songs could have been counted as songs for the band instead of Rod. This is especially notable for Ronnie Wood, who co-wrote a lot of stuff with Rod and did a lot of the guitar arrangements for Rod.

Ronnie Lane (much like all of the band members from Faces) is criminally underrated and more deserving of commercial success (although his slim chance band acknowledges this funnily enough by their namesake).
