odean 73: I think that the rules are still the following: one membership will buy you four tickets in an arena or a stadium (but for the same concert only, so NOT one ticket each for four different concerts, as you get to use your code once only!) OR two tickets at one clubshow. So, from the financial point of view, you'd be better off buying four tickets on one membership, and then trading

Yeahbutnobutyeahbut we've just taken step 1 in our programme to beat this addiction, Bjornulf, we RECOGNIZE it... And, out of curiosity, how much higher in % is your actual touring budget for 2005/2006 to let's say the 1982 tour???(please no exact figures in $$, your lovely wife may be reading this...) 400% ?? 800% ?? Debra: I'd never heard the term "soaked", I

...that was FUNNY, Gazza!... Wolter,Sweetheart: absolutely! Why don't you send them an email saying that there's still room for improving their profits and that they aren't charging us enough yet?.... Debra: I think I know exactly how you feel, and the Santa Claus example hits the nail on the head....I can only hope for you and the rest of us that the shows are going to be so

Good point about the hurt outreach to younger audiences, john r, but perhaps at their age the equation looks different. Perhaps there is NO way they could ever really get at massive younger audiences anyway, as those prefer crap music performed by young sexy musicians touching their crotch every 5 seconds , and rap and boom-boom stuff you can throw E's to....If you still have let's say

Gazza: I agree, most fans wouldn't , but some do, it's what happens when potentially ridiculous amounts of money are involved, some argued that selling the second theater show ticket would enable them to travel and buy six more concert tickets....I tried for an Astoria ticket on iorr.org, but when I was outbid gave up at 300 £ and told the chap to stick it where the sun don't shine

How much money do they need, Gazza??? How do I know??? Anb who can decide for them??? I mean. how long is a piece of string??? I have reached the same conclusion you have, there's no way I would pay 450$ to see the Stones, that much I know, even though I could afford it, but it's just obscene. I'd pay 450$ to see Hendrix, Joplin and Elvis definitely, but not to see the Stones...b

Ok, Gazza, but are we ANY different??? I love oil paintings by Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon, it's the one thing I'd love to buy if I was seriously rich. Just because I love Lucian Freud doesn't mean he will accept a commission from me, and even IF he did (apparently he is very choosy), should he charge me less than the 3 million £££ they go for???? Why? Cause I'm a "

Thanks, Four Stone Walls and Skippy (howdi, how's life? and how lovely to read you again!): I see the logic with the acoustic guitar, and it seems the more reasonable way to do it, problem being that she wants an electric one, and birthdays in my book are about dreams coming true, right??? Plus, her dad used to play guitar in a band , so I think that the instrument will not go to waste, eve

Why can I never spend some quality time with Mathijs in a thread ON MY OWN????? (Just kidding, boys, thanks everyone.... ;-) I suppose that the next question ought to be: Where can I buy some efficient ear-mufflers to wear around the house????? The piano was kind of ok, but when she started playing the violin, it just sounded like someone slowly and painfully throttling some poor cat for a fe

Many, many thanks, Mathijs!!!! And actually, she's a daughter, and as to her "heroes", despite growing up with two parents with excellent musical taste and despite having listened to the Stones since the moment of her conception, they sadly are "Green Day" at the moment....I know, yuck, but what can you do???....I'm a great believer in showing kids "good"

To Miss U: For God's sake, woman, put a sock in it already and give us all on the board a ferking break. Brian's dead, has been dead for about 40 years (or WHATEVER), and unlike the victims in London today, was killed by himself and by himself exclusively by either: 1)dabbling in drugs he couldn't handle 2) being exceedingly thirsty and, not being able to find a single clean

Bjornulf: Thanks for taking the time to answer in such depth. Yes, you nailed it, it's about us believing that the very high level of taxes pays for a high class and efficient public service for everyone. If Norwegian was an easier language to learn, and Norway a country that hasn't got 9 months of winter, I would ask you to mail me a norwegian immigration form together with my IORR Nr

PS to stonefan: Don't take any notice of TV and other journalistic crap being churned out to sell papers and create emotional hype..... I've lived in England for 15 years now, and my personal impression is that there IS NO "anti-French-disease", quite the opposite, really. There is a very old tradition of teaching French as the first "foreign" language at schools

Interesting comment, Bjornulf, I wonder what your personal current taxrate is, and whether you are content with the free public services (healthcare, etc...) that you and your family receive in Norway, and whether you feel that your taxes help to make norwegian society a fairer place to live in and be a part of than let's say for example USA society. I pay about 40% tax on my yearly in

The alcohol tincture of opium loads of poets and other artists (Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Baudelaire, John Hemingway, the list is endless...) were hooked on is actually spelled "laudanum". What I have never understood is how artists manage to still be creative, or even stand up on a stage and perform when on drugs, I don't think I could even tie my shoelaces under th

What I want to know is this: In the central picture, the male coathanger with attitude is wearing a luuuuuvly ensemble, and on his crotch I can sort of read a word.... Does it say: "Oregano"? yo, there you are, Kent....don't worry, when both of you reach my advanced age you'll be having plenty of "senior moments" yourselves..... all you need to do now, Kent, is get yourself a second mistress and a dogcollar in matching colours to Lorenz's, when you're playing together it'll be a bit like ZZ top without the beards and with a hint of dominatrix......

ooops, you're right Limbo, sorry, Lorenz! But it's nice to read you being happy, too.... Mistress means anything from a woman who has immense power and control over her life (the mistress of her own destiny),to a woman you are having a close relationship with outside of wedlock (unmarried), which often but not exclusively means the husband is married to his wife , but has a second wo

Well, that made it quite concise and clear, thanks, Mathijs. But how come the Japanese are excluded from this regulation? Do these musical royalty laws work like international "treaties" which the individual countries either accept and sign onto or not (like for example CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species), or are these international "laws"??

Not a rule created by our beloved Eurowankers having to justify their overpaid existence, by any chance???? In a way, your rule at least warrants that the original artist receives the royalties he/she is rightly entitled to???.Or was there a perfectly functioning scheme in place before??? But in my line of work there is a new EU rule being currently made into law, and I will not only have to lay

I've checked the date as well, Chelsea Drugstore. What a coincidence! I shall be premenstrual.... Presumably I shall be at my local Virgin Megastore for when the doors open at 9:30 am, walk in pretending to be in total control of my intense excitement, ask the pimply 18 year old behind the counter politely :"Excuse me, where do you keep the new Rolling Stones CD ??". I have this faint knowledge of artists making money whenever their songs get played in public, but I don't know exactly how it works.... Is it a fixed fee??? Do only the people who were accredited with the songwriting in the first place get the money, but not the rest of the band??? So, for example, Keith's sitting on the toilet with the Sunday paper at 10am, and some radiostation play
