To me, The White album is the only one at the "big 4/5" level......but it's all opinion and taste. Someone, perhaps NL(?), put it best earlier, Ya-Yas is kind of the "fruit" of much of this work, thereby an extension...... Again, it's all opinion.

QuoteBrstonesfan Satanic , imo, is a better album the Sgt. Pepper. The Stones toyed with the Beatles and then discarded them....Beatles fans just can't handle that we are better. Obviously I would disagree, sales figures would certainly disagree and not that Critics are geniuses, but I've NEVER saw SM in any top 100 album list- But, opinions are like that! I wish I could get that

My 2 cents....... I don't think talking about ice cream or other OT subjects, is any more or less boring than debating whether Keith's solo in Bitch was better in 72' or 73'- it all boils down to opinion and we all have one. However, in fairness to BV, I thought that my comments were going to get me booted on more than one occasion, and I'm still here.....befuddling.

Yes.... A young band, caught in a bit of an identity crisis. After being innovators early on, had become increasingly dirivative. In a 3 album span, you can call the light experimentation of AM/BTB v/s Rubber Soul/Revolver a tie, but SG Pepper smokes SM.....I think this is key. I'm sure this motivated Mick quite a bit to get back on firm footing and try to surpass the Beatles in success agai

Quoteandrewt Yeah that's odd. I mean, I can totally relate to "f!cking right I'm at a Stones show. Life is good" and "wow, Gimme Shelter has really lost its edge" equally. It doesn't always have to be a zero sum equation. It's a strange duality you and I seem to possess...... I'll try it again- "Loved the Pittsburgh show, was really hop

As a footnote, also these days, to stay in good graces, everyone who posts must sign a waver saying that any current tour is the "best tour ever"...incredible! Or risk being exiled....

Quotekleermaker Also, as a player, I don't simply by default defer to another musician......... However, Mathjis is damn near infallible with this stuff, and DP is real close! And you have the authority to judge that, so you're surpassing even both mentioned posters. Great! Damn Kleer! I am in NO authority..... I just am saying, when I pick up a guitar to test different possibili

OK...... Now an observation- one I can't make anywhere else or it will be misconstrued as "whining"- If show "X" is a particularly good show, not only from musicianship, but because there was an unusually unique song vote, and because they played OOC instead of D&G...etc..... Then why is it labeled as complaining if you get the generic set list. This is illogical- it

I too play guitar. I do think it gives insight to the technical/mechanics of what's going on. Also, as a player, I don't simply by default defer to another musician......... However, Mathjis is damn near infallible with this stuff, and DP is real close!

No...you are spot on, completing my thought! I really dig BTB......SM is what it is......but it ALL is part of what is about to manifest..... It was a very fruitful cycle.

To me, this is where the "Rollin' Stones" became the Stones. The cut is clear. No more Aftermath- BTB soul searching, experimental wandering. No more Satanic obsurdery...... With BB they do a 180° musically. From this point until decadence sets in, they define Rock. Both technically and aesthetically. Not my favorite Stones album, but an essential part of a 5 album roll, that in my

Quotebleedingman Interesting that Keith allowed Bill's clinker in MR to stand. Bill goes to B-A-E a bar to soon before Mick's harp solo. I've learned to live with it but, Keith, you could have fixed it, and probably overdubbed the bass yourself. Still, good stuff. Bill wrote it! He should get songwriting credit! Where's the Bill Wyman thread?!?

Well.....it was mostly sarcasm. I don't think Bill had much to offer, or that he really tried. I use Ronnie as an example that it WAS possible to break through, and even get credit for things he wasn't"officially" given credit for.

Quoteroller99 QuoteThrylan Keith, but I would rather meet Ronnie. Exactly the same here! I'd rather play with Ronnie too (bass) I envision Ronnie as completely sympatico. No ego. Just walk into your basement or garage and be like, "What are YOU working on?" So seemingly selfless.......Christ, he has got to be the only guitar player ever to be able to live with Hendrix, and c

I will try it this way...... So after 28 years of relentlessly trying to break the Jagger/Richards domination........Bill quit. However in about 4 years, long before he was even a "member", Ronnie was able to break into the dreamteam, again, not because his ideas were better, but because Mick and Keith didn't want Bill to get any credit......

QuoteNaturalust QuoteTurner68 QuoteThrylan It is performed well, but not my thing live. Could be enhanced by my growing negativity towards Mick playing too much guitar. MM is a good example of a great studio track that could get much better if Mick "performed" a little more, and Keith and Ronnie could flesh it out a bit.(D&G also) I am a Keith man, but.......Tell me you wouldn
