Quotecrawdaddy Thanks for posting. A really good read from Chuck Leavell who is a top man in my opinion. Only met him once while walking around Oslo city centre a couple of hours after final rehearsals at Telenor Arena back in May 2014. Chatting to him and his lovely wife Rose for about half an hour while walking, and both of them are genuinely nice people. Your perception of him is dead

QuoteMKjan Quotebv The Rolling Stones were a band of six - 6 - members including Ian Stewart. With Brian Jones out in 1969 they were down to four out of six. Then Bill left 1993, so then they are technically just 50% of the original lineup. They are not getting any younger year by year. Postponing another year would probably mean the shows in USA this year would have been lost. It isn't

QuoteIrix Regarding the Stones' 2021 US-Tour: , , , . If you follow the link, this policy only applies to venues owned or operated by AEG. None of the venues that The Stones are playing in are O&Os. Here's the text from their site: "Los Angeles, CA, August 12, 2021 – AEG Presents, a global leader in concerts and live events, announced today that it will be req

Both Bluzdude and I were in the band, so nobody is co-opting anything. Even the Stones have had lineup changes. I guarantee Bard wouldn't mind.

Any players interested in setting one of these up in L.A.? We already have bass and one guitar. Need vocals, second guitar, and more.

QuoteIrix Quoteroller99 The Stones themselves credit it to Braun/Cefalu. No, the Stones themselves credit it separately to John Pasche - , Craig Braun concept packaging - , Craig Braun / Ernie Cefalu - . I was only referring to the second one, same thing.

Craig is a pathetic liar. He claims to have done the art, yet he never did anything else...he owned the studio where it was created, which is why The Stones themselves credit it to Braun/Cefalu. Ernie Cefalu drew it.

QuoteErik_Snow I gotta admit, when seeing this Ronnie-car about a week ago, I started puking.....in a bucket. One would expect a person like this; who earned billions by being a "joker" to do as much as he could, when it comes to starvation, hunger, and the most killer of all: clima change and deserts. But Ron Wood....he's satisfied bying roses to his castle. An idiot if there eve

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotewonderboy 2. Works his ass off in The Stones, keeping track of every little detail about what was played when and where. Let's see, when did we last play IORR? Suggesting, not deciding, surely Yep, I think we all know how that works. MJ says yes or no, KR says "F**k no" or grunts his approval.

I went to London in 2018 for two shows, and the jam with the IORR band was the highlight of that trip, I got to sit in for "Let It Rock". I managed to get an in-person interview with Darryl on that trip, and the IORR gig was still the highlight of that trip. Meeting all the IORR people, playing live music, jamming with my friend Bluzdude, it just doesn't get better than that.

QuoteKRiffhard Too many fans of the 'plink plink plink' piano style!!! I'm curious, do you play an instrument? I just don't get why anyone who knows the slightest thing about music, has an ear for it, or can read, would say anything negative about this guy.

Quotekeefmick Does anyone know if one can see the Chuck Leavell-True Man movie without going to the theaters when it is released this week? All you haters out there, please hold your fire. You may not like him, but Chuck is an extremely talented pianist and an amazing conservationist. If you don't like him, that's fine, just keep moving along, no need to post negative things. Try to be

QuoteKRiffhard QuoteMore Hot Rocks I just picked up the 4 cd box set of the ABB's Brothers and Sisters. Amazing playing by Chuck. Whats even more amazing is that he was 20 years old at the time. With the Stones he makes only "1..2...1 2 3 4" and the famous "plink plink plink" style. You must not be a huge Stones fan to say something like that. He is the musical d

Quoteedog Here in the states the inner sleeve had a blow up of John's logo screened back with text overlaid and the pen sketch was done by Craig in his office and in fronnt of me and two others using my lips and added a tongue to them. There was no time limit of an hour set at all! Again, taking my words and adding your own until others believe it to be true. That's real B.S,and the maj

Quote24FPS Good jazz selections. Just seeing Stanley Clarke as a choice reminds me that Darryl is not a rock and roll bassist. He's a noodler. A 70s jazz noodler that doesn't know how to hold the bottom down. Doesn't know? Yes, that's why he's held the job for 25 years. I'll be sure to forward your comments so they can get rid of him! Great call... I think it

Quoteelectricmud Top list , top choices . I did see Darryl in a small club playing fusion jazz with Mike Stern on guitar and Keith Carlock on drums. Outstanding, not from this world. This is a list I expect from a musician like him. I saw him once in a small club here in Los Angeles, with the drummer from Living Color and a brilliant acoustic guitarist named Jean Paul Bourelly. It was like a j

QuoteHairball Interesting there's no Rock and Roll albums on his list. Once we got the ten, he named a few rock albums, but he is naming primarily early influences. My list would be very similar to his, except with a Beatles record thrown in. Darryl is really more of a jazz/funk/blues guy. He just happens to play in The Stones.

QuoteNikkei "the two versions of the Braun Logo" now we are getting somewhere Did Braun or Cefalu create the logos? Yes. Ernie worked for Craig, and as the owner of the agency, he gets to take the credit. Who put pen to paper? Cefalu. As the artist, he gets to also take the credit because Cefalu wasn't his employee, he was a freelancer. It was actually Marshall Chess who

Oh, by the way, Mrs. Roller just reminded me (she's my source) that a couple of years ago when we were hanging out with Burton, he told us that "Let It Ride" is a direct lift of "Immigrant Song" by Randy. "American Woman" came about as The Guess Who were warming up on stage at a place in Toronto called The Broom and Stone, and Burton was out in the parking lo
