Great to see BTO showing up here on IORR. I have some great stories about Randy and Burton. Burton as it turns out, was Ernie Cefalu's closest friend for over 30 years. Between 2015 and 2018, the three of us used to hang out at Ernie's place, doing a live broadcast on FB. I first met Randy in 1986, funnily enough, my stepfather managed The Guess Who. Last time Randy toured SoCal, B

QuoteGasLightStreet Anyone know what Darryl said to the press that pissed Mick off? I know Darryl doesn't remember. He did tell me "not to believe %90 of what's written on the band".

Thanks for the kind words everyone, the interview was mostly done for the IORR community. If it weren't for IORR, I would never have become a writer for Goldmine, etc. Most of my questions were culled from topics I've seen discussed here. Cheers!

QuoteStoneage Thanks, Roller 99. Read the parts I was interested in. Thanks for asking those "fan questions" about setlists and so. I wasn't expecting any answers from them (and I was right) but you tried your best. I do believe that the vote is real most of the time, in the sense that Mick won't put a song in that he hates. One of the guys told me they know what the choi

QuoteThe Joker Very interesting. I finally get Matt Clifford's part. TR: Matt sort of bridges the rhythm section because he's got two or three keyboards on his rack, and he can play piano sounds, he can make organ sounds, like a Fender Rhodes, he can make string sounds or make it sound like a low brass or a trumpet. So he kind of does a lot of different sounds. So there's

When this got published, it was trimmed to fit. Unfortunately, the meat was trimmed, leaving out the comments of The Stones' promoter, John Meglen out. What he had to say about Ticketmaster and the whole mechanism of choosing show locations, ticket dumping, etc was in some ways more relevant than the band. What Goes Into A Stones Tour (Un-edited)

Some people here kill me. Last week Hairball "reported" on the May 8th opener telling us what would have happened. During Desert Trip, he reported on the food, telling us how big the pizza slices were, and how many pepperoni pieces there were on a slice, like the scene in Casino where Deniro tells the chef, "I want an equal amount of blueberries in each muffin." It is to la

QuoteTopi Would sound like a different position, based on the job description at least. This guy would be replacing Richard Coble, not Dale "Opie" Skjerseth. Coble is very secretive and flies under the radar.

Neither best or worst, just a few missing here I think deserve honorable mention: Supermensch, The Legend of Shep Gordon Who The F**k is Arthur Vogel - Some great insights into how the modern concert business developed. Does Humor Belong In Music - Frank Zappa Tantrums and Tiaras - Elton John All You Need Is Klaus - Doc on Klaus Voorman A Matter of Trust - Billy Joel's trip

QuoteErwinH I always thought drummers with electronic equipment were 'stupid'. Last months I read about 'freedrum' , something like Charlie used last night. This morning I thougt : If Charlie uses these then it must be cool.. so I ordered a pair of freedrum-sticks and 2 foot-sensors :-) I've had the freedrum kit for a few years. I didn't see the sensors, bu

That was the extent of what the poster shared. Link to that post? I am hearing next year as well. I'm sure they want to do it, and most fans are still

Wow, my Editor cut a lot of it to fit. It's supposed to be fully available on line next month. There were some brilliant insights by the promoter that address things like ticket prices, locations chosen, etc.

Hey everyone, First off, thank you all for the support and kind words, this article was done primarily for all of you in this great community. I truly would not be here if it were not for IORR. You all mean a lot to me. Good news. Due to the current situation in the world, Goldmine is allowing the entire world to download the issue for free. I hope you enjoy it, it's dedicated to a

QuoteUndercover1 Great job roller... I got mine in the mail the other day and love it. I posted a small portion in Rockman’s “some kind of stones connections “ thread. Undercover1 Thanks a lot Undercover1. I can't wait to see it myself, you write these things, but you don't see the finished product until it hits the magazine stands. The formatting looks great.

I know it's a small consolation, but the May issue of Goldmine Magazine will feature a story on the band, with a lot of insights from the promoter. It will hit newsstands around April 9 or 10. If you want to ensure you get one, you can subscribe, as they don't print a huge amount of them.

Quotestone66 I see, one of those exclusive, superfan-type threads. I'll bet no one here can say how many ingredients it takes to make strawberry jam, without Google-peeking. I'm certainly not a "Superfan", I was just in the right place at the right time. I post on here from time to time. I'm a Journalist, but it was at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, and there we
