QuoteProfessorWolf Quotekeefriffhards QuoteProfessorWolf nice version of little t&a i really like keith's solo Thank you ProfessorWolf, Keith clearly gaining in confidence, the way he approaches the guitar, it's getting fluid like the old days, i really don't want this tour to end for Keith. well what are those guys from winos doing nowadays? I think Keith peaked in 1990, this is Sympathy For The Devil on steroids. He did a similar solo in 89' in Atlantic City. This clip in 1990 Tokyo. Couldn't resist this one from 89' Atlantic City. Keith's a force of nature at his best here. Happy

QuoteTantekäthe Judging by the recordings only, I have to say this has to be the best "version" of the band since - at least - the Licks tour more than 20 years ago (exceptions like the glorious 2013 outing at Glasto not withstanding). Take SFTD for example, when was the last time the guitar parts - if played at all - were not awkward excursions but actually complimented the song? I cou

Sympathy For The Devil was outstanding in Chicago, possibly better than any version from Keith for 20 years. Keith will do this sort of incredible out of the blue kick ass playing and it makes you wonder just how much more is under the surface waiting to get out, but alas the tours end after 14 to 20 shows and the guitars go back in their cases for another year or two. How can Keith get SFTD

Well he can't have it both ways, show me another 80 year old charging top Dollar for tickets, for mega bucks the show should feel fresh and give an element of surprise. For me it's getting a bit stale, can't Mick just get out of this routine, i know it works but come on, show us the artist not the workout.

QuoteSighunt Boy, we're getting a lot of mileage out of this thread. From everything I've read and interviews of I've seen over the years, I would surmise that Ron Wood, given his sort of light-hearted, happy go lucky personality, serves a valuable function by adding to the chemistry of the band, running interference when necessary, and being a sort of intermediary between the two

Yes sorry ProfessorWolf that was the wrong word to use, i do that, i have ADHD and write too impulsively without thinking sometimes, I've been accused of not having enough empathy at times too, my bad. Ronnie was great at El Mocambo and Still Life, beggars the question what happened to him, like he couldn't give a damn for a couple decades, took no pride in his playing, became a

QuoteGasLightStreet QuotekeefriffhardsThere are no better guitarists than Taylor for the Stones, not just his playing, the songs he was involved in are the best Stones tracks as far as I'm concerned. Ronnie brought mediocrity to the greatest rock band in the world, his creative input wasn't as inspiring to the band as Taylor's So Keith Richards isn't up to snuff for the Sto

QuoteTaylor1 QuoteTheflyingDutchman Quoteharlem shuffle Stones could have had a much better guitarplayer than Ron Wood. They didn't need a better one. That's not what the Stones are all about; It would have been the end of the Rolling Stones -becoming off-balance musically. Ask the majority of the fans. With the exception of a few die-hard Taylorites, (like me). Or preferably an ev

Quotefrankotero Ronnie is a God send I would say. Happy he's doing so well these days. But to imply The Stones were in some type of crisis before he joined (as to say they were near finished) is not possible. If this were true I don't believe Mick Jagger would has been concerned by Mick T. leaving. I'm pretty sure he was upset by this. Or maybe what I've read in the past is w

Getting back to Ronnie, do many of you think Ronnie is much better than what we hear from his playing, I'm constantly frustrated he holds back to much, flashes of brilliance that make you feel yeah more Ronnie, much more. I guess this is why Keith said that Ronnie is the most sympathetic guitarist he has ever played with.

Ronnie ?, in some ways he saved his best till last, love his last solo album, plays great on the new album and is playing really well live now with Keith. But make no mistake, he's no Mick Taylor, it's comparing apple's to oranges, almost like comparing Keith to Taylor, completely pointless and Ronnie would be the first to admit it.

Bless your heart ProfessorWolf, the voice of reason, a true fan who tries to pull people together and understands that without different points of view tour threads would be down to 3 pages. You are right, it is shocking to wake up and read some posters attacks. Perhaps people with critism or a dream that Keith sings Coming Down Again should go away if they are going to get insulted, but who

RIP Donald Sutherland Just a couple hours before the news of his passing over to the better place i sent my Mum some highlights on youtube with clips of Oddball from Kelly's Heroes, so funny, havent watched that film in decades. Best set list of the tour, just wish iorr was replaced by GOOMC, goes down better with the audiences. I'd agree we dont get many comments now, its been the same tour format since 1989 so not much to report on or keep that many of us re-interested, surely Keith can sing comming Down Again or Sleep Tonight, or at least play BTMMR. I'd also agree anyone with a negative comment gets

QuoteMadMax QuoteMathijs QuoteMadMax QuoteDandelionPowderman It might have become too heavy to handle for lead guitar playing regarding his fingers? That's an interesting point Dandy! Mine is very light weight and perfect action, however Keith's might be heavier (although I do believe his first was alder, but gonna check the Gear book again). The 2nd one with the black switch was ash,

QuoteJeter1984 Keith is clearly gassed by the final 3 or 4 songs but he keeps on going, just awesome to see and hear. No he wasn't out of breath at all, show me an example, I've not seen Keith gassed. He sings better than ever too. If you watch Keith on the 26th May at Metlife Stadium he proves how fit he is when he's in the mood to move. I think because he chooses to

Quotechrism13 Just curious as to why Keith & Ronnie have shied away from playing two guitars that have been mainstays in the past. Keith and his black '72 telecast & Ronnie with his red zematis made for the '78 tour. The latter I thought sounded great on the '81 tour. Why have these been shelved? When i next see Ronnie and Keith I'll ask them both for you. Serious
