Brian Jones did not write many songs. He is creditied with Rice Krispies commercial. He also has a credit for a song titled "Sure I Do" recorded by the Rolling Stones. Registered BTW with Posner Music publishing. I was told by Keith in the 70's and again in the 80's that Brian did work with him on Ruby Tuesday. There are some Nanker Phelge credits where Brian had more to do wi

QuoteTops Hi Tops; They also played it in Paris on April 11th 1967, Brian had problems (keyboards) getting started they had three false starts before they finally played it at the show. I'm not sure if they played it at other shows after Paris but they played it in Paris. They also played it "live" on the UK TV show, The Eamond Andrews Show Feb 5th, 1967. I saw them play it a

Jiving Sister Fanny..Was suppose to be the next single on ABKCO after Honky Tonk Women but the Stones submitted @#$%& Blues instead to fulfill their contract with ABKCO. I believe Brown Sugar was a settlement some how, between The Stones & ABKCO,over the C.S.B deal. which is why I believe Brown Sugar was released by both ABKCO & The Stones. ABKCO had the original tape of Brown Sugar f

Hi "with sssoul"; Thanks for posting, How do you know that this is Stargrovers then say Olympic Studios? Were these from a magazine article or your private collection? Do you have a copy without the water mark? Again thanks for the quick responce. VJ - both apparently Stargroves, March 1970 (don't know who took 'em, sorry!) These are both frequently misidentified,

I attended this show ( 100 Club Feb. 23 1986 ). Nothing was video taped, well I did not see anyone taping the show and I was watching. Also unless someone hid a tape recorderin the coat pocket nothing was audio taped. You say Paul McCartney was there , well I did not see him there. There was less then 200 people in attendence, you could easly walk up to the stage and back out. As part as Paul Mc

A few things come to mind; The show in Paris at the Olympia Theater April 11th 1967, during the show while playing "She Smiled Sweetly" Brian Jones was having problems with the organ. The band had stopped and started the song three times before finally resoolving the problem Then at Veterans Stadium Aug. 31, 1989. The amps power blew out during Shattered, the whole band just

I agree Marquee Show was not one of the bands best shows. I am working on the DVD project and trying to get them to use another show. What show do you know 100% they did Wild Horses? This would help in getting another 71 show used. I have offer them Wild Horses & Bitch from Top of The Pops as a bonus, hopefull they will want to use it. Marquee Show will be used regardless but another show wou

I agree, I don't think Mick or Keith spoke of it because of two big reason 1. It was done only once; toward the end of this tour. 2.It flopped, nothing to brag about. It seemed like it was a last minute addition to the set list that night, so no one was prepared, which is what Bobby says in his book. P 116 I believe. I don't believe they ever did Wild Horses on this tour (71) at all,

CYHMK was played live in Liverpool,at the Empire Theater March 12,1971. This was confirmed to me by Bobby Keys many years ago personally, plus he then wrote about it in his book "Every Nights a Saturday Night". I believe the late great Bobby Keys (may he rest in peace), is not wrong about this. With the exception of Brown Sugar, CYHMK was probably one of his biggest claims to fame si

QuotePietro Interesting interview with Jagger about "Gimme Shelter." "Well, it’d be great to have a woman come and do the rape/murder verse,’ or chorus or whatever you want to call it,” said Jagger. “We randomly phoned up this poor lady in the middle of the night, and she arrived in her curlers and proceeded to do that in one or two takes, which is pretty amazing. She came in a

Thanks Ned, I had thought that, I had not seen/watched the clip (original) in a long while, I believe someone sent me the (new) clip with the re-worked sound track recently. So the date mentioned for recording (It's a Lie) is most likely correct, I did not have a date earlier then the 1978 date for the track either which made be question what I was writing hence the ... Hello Swiss; I don't believe this song was recorded that late (Jan.-March 1978), well at least the first time. There is an interview with Mick, Ronnie & Charlie (Sept. 1977 on Old Grey Whistle Test) talking about their new L.P. "Love You Live' in the background you hear the track "It's A Lie" being played. So I would put the song being recorded pre-Sept. 1

Regard to your question, no I have not seen the film, but I am good friends with G.G. and we talked about this film in detail. I did locate it for G.G. back in 1980 but due to unforeseen problems ($$$) I could not get it at the time. I knew the person who had it,but I waited to long to reconnect with the person and he died before I was able to meet with him again. I can probably find it again but

Many artist were not able to tour all over the world to promote there records back in the 30's & 40's especially. So promo films were made and were shown in many a movie houses. Another big promoter of "PROMO FILMS" I use that word loosely, was a company called Scopitone. They were a European company I believe, that made a lot these films and in Europe they had back in the

QuoteBig Al Quotewith sssoul and Mick Avory (who's still alive) did all right with the Kinks Whilst I am sure that Avory developed to become quite the competent drummer in time, it was session-musician Bobby Graham whose skills were preferred on the majority of early Kinks recordings. Didn’t Richards or Jagger once make reference to how ‘awful’ Avory was, or am I misremembering? Yes

Quotestonehearted BBC Radio 1 interview with Keith Richards for the Saturday afternoon show, May 25, 1986. Keith's dad's name is Bert Richards. Oldham has said in m

I find it hard to believe many Stones fans don't really like this album. I think it is one of the best things they have done. As the years go by this album still holds up. If you haven't played this album in years , please play it again. I think Stones fans that haven't given this L.P. much thought, will find a better appreciation for it.(IMHO)
