I had no idea who David was before this tour. I did think it was weird, and the Pete Best analogy is pretty similar to what I thought. Like the Beach Boys were just trying to find any tie to their legacy to replace Dennis and Carl. But now that I've actually looked it up, its perfectly reasonable he's there, and obviously since he knew Dennis and Carl early on, it seems he's a fitt

QuoteJah Paul Quotedonvis I bought a ticket to the Vegas show but I have to admit I'm not fond of medleys. Does anyone know how many medleys they did? I don't think they're doing a lot of medleys, even though one reviewer mentioned them (not trusting reviewers right now!). Years ago (when Carl was still around), they used to do a "car song" medley, but that was it. Br

Here's 35 minutes of audio apparently. I haven't listened yet so I can't comment on sound quality. These are the songs listed in the info bar: Do It Again Catch A Wave Don’t Back Down Surfin’ Safari Surfer Girl The Little Girl I Once Knew Forever Sail On Sailor Heroes And Villains God Only Knows That’s Why God Made The Radio Better than nothing I guess. Amazing setlist for San Jose. No tour premieres I don't think, but possibly my favorite setlist so far. Only suggestion I would have had was switching out Shackled and Drawn for Easy Money just because I like the latter alittle better.

Yeah, but one of those is from 37 years ago. Clearly he matured. The other guy, is from a few months ago. One of these pictures is sad, and one was just the 70s. And I'm a KISS fan.

Quotetreaclefingers I quite like Bruce Springsteen, even having just bought his Live 75-85 5 album set from a record fair. Even still, haven't been interested in seeing him live...I just can't explain my indifference. I would get as cheap a ticket as you can find. If you like his live album and music, its a whole other experience live that just can't be put into words.

Quotetreaclefingers I have a question, I haven't even heard any of Chinese Democracy. How would it compare to their nearest competitor, say, Velvet Revolver. I thought they weren't too bad all. Personally, I thought Velvet Revolver's first album, Contraband, was fantastic. Only 2 songs or so I didn't like that much and a ton I REALLY enjoyed. Their second effort was a bit

Quotekeefriffhard4lifeyes really. use your illusions was just leftover songs and retreads of stuff from AFD. 2 versions of "don't cry" which axl wrote before AFD. also "novemver rain" which was written prior to AFD. 2 cover tunes. that crappy "my world", etc. in the end those 2 albums only had a few good tunes It took some growing for me to really like both thos

Wether it was successful or not, I will stand by Chinese Democracy. I'm nowhere near an Axl fanboy, and I fully consider Chinese Democracy an Axl Rose solo album, and for what it is I think its very good. Nothing groundbreaking or near the level of old Guns stuff, but I seriously like about 8 out of the 14 songs on there. I wasn't call it as much of a bomb as people did. When I saw &quo

QuoteNaturalustLooking back heroin chic was happening and that whole band smelled of chemicals from a mile away. Our band shared a rehearsal space in the same SF Valley wherehouse back before these guys hit and I can confirm that they were party animals. Some of the memories I am not likely to recall willingly. Oh come on. You can't bring that up and then not elaborate.

I'm sorry, but thats total bullshit. At least don't get everyone's @#$%& hopes up months ago when you confirm you'll all be there. I'm not even that big of a Faces fan, but I was very excited to see Rod up there again with them. Total bullshit.

QuoteMathijs Why wasn't Izzy present? Mathijs Izzy just didn't show up. He wasn't being a dick or anything. These public awards things just aren't his cup of tea and never have been. He released a small little letter after Axl's saying he wouldn't be there after all the drama that went on. He sort of implied that if Axl went, he would have showed. Bottom line: Izz

Very creepy. But this also just completely proves how there are just weird things that happen by coincidence, ie. with those Paul is Dead clues. Although I do remember being obsessed with them at one time.

QuoteMathijs It wasn't really unexpected, isn't it. Axl to date is seclusive and generally avoids being in public outside the stage. And he really believes he is touring with a fabulous band, you can't expect him to accept the honours and in a way admit that all his fame and fortune is based on that version of the band. Mathijs I agree, its not that unexpected. And as a fan, I r

Quoteliddas I prefectly understand Axl's move. Like it or not, its the Appetite/UYI GnR band that everybody wants under the spotlights, not the current version. But for Axel, the one that counts is the present line up. The old one is history. The HOF thing is quite a joke. C Then change the name and don't tour under it because you know what thats gonna bring about in people. They

Quote71Tele Quoteab I figured that this would be a thread about great songs on bad albums in general. That being the case, I'd go with an even better example from roughly the same time period: Brownsville Girl by Bob Dylan on Knocked Out Loaded. Talk about a diamond in a dung heap. Me too... I submit "Someday Never Comes" on CCR's "Mardi Gras" album. Funn

Quotekammpberg One of the all time great covers - because it's completely different but works wonderfully and is pretty potent and powerful. Never understood how and why so many successful cover versions are virtual carbon copies of the originals (think Guns & Roses with Live & Let Die or their version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door). I hear their versions on the radio but

Quotedcba What a bummer, I expected new scorching material and they reunite for this... For me the biggest "Neil Young & Crazy Horse" news of 2012 is the flood of audience tapes from the 1991 Weld tour that's shared at Dime... The whole tour actually. I agree. I respect everything Neil does and usually he takes that other route you don't expect, but at their age and w
