For me, The Beatles are a vocal pop group with rock and roll leanings. The Rolling Stones are a blues band with rock and roll leanings. I'll take the blues over the pop any day.

The ones that come immediately to mind.... TELL ME MY GIRL UNDER THE BOARDWALK COOL, CALM, COLLECTED IF YOU LET ME FAMILY BACK TO ZERO (if I had to pick only one, this would be it) BLINDED BY RAINBOWS In related news, I suppose this list would also constitute my nightmare setlist.

I can't find a Who compilation anywhere (short of the old "Who greatest hits" with the union jack shirt on the cover) that includes "The Relay". None of the slew of new Who collections feature it, and it's one of my favorite songs from them. Any thoughts, ideas, advice, leads? (Not to be confused with Leeds).

Happy Birthday to my rock n roll soul brother....I love Brian and Ronnie too, but I share Mick's birthday. Time for some "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". In another somewhat random news, it is the late Donald Cammell's ('Performance') birthday today too.

QuoteGravityBoy Quotefloodonthepagebut I agree that songs like 'Good Day Sunshine', 'Got To Get You Into My Life' and some others on "Revolver" aren't very good. I often hear this but I don't get it. I love those songs I think they are great. The hate for them usually comes from Paul haters though. Not saying that's the case here. Not in t

Quote71Tele Quotefloodonthepage It's funny, I was just going through my CDs, trying to make space for new arrivals, and two of the CDs that got the boot were "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver". I did however burn my favorite songs from both albums onto the computer, but as complete albums, I must say I never listen to them. I think if you took roughly half of each record you&

I noticed on the DVD copy, in the "Memo From Turner" scene, when Jagger turns to the camera in the doorway and says "Here's to Old England"....its been muted, you see Mick mouthing the words. At first I questioned it, but sure enough, when I went to watch my VHS copy, you hear it. Why they did this, I don't know. Kinda annoying. Anyone else notice it?

"Fingerprint File". Runners up would be "Little Red Rooster", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Moonlight Mile","Loving Cup", "Winter" and "100 Years Ago" (for the build-up at the end). Tomorrow I'd probably think of others. I guess I just like the Stones deep in my head, period.

I like Robert Cray. I've seen him twice. First time was in 2004....a double bill with Buddy Guy in Seattle, right on Puget Sound. 2nd time was a New Years Eve show in Milwaukee, I think '06 into '07. I've listened to "Midnight Stroll" and "Shame + A Sin" quite a bit......favorite songs around that time are probably "Bouncin' Back" and &

"A Bigger Bang" has grown on me. At the time of its release, I wasn't really into it. It was the first Stones CD since becoming a fan that I didn't buy the day it came out. At the time I was turning away from them......carrying on in various pissy rants about their concert ticket prices and some of their boring, safe songs on recent albums......blah, blah, blah. I ended up

I really hope "So Young" isn't just the '94 version. From what I am reading, it appears that I wrongly thought the song "Lucky in Love" was "Not The Way To Go". (Obviously not to be confused with the '85 Jagger track). I've got "Lucky in Love" on the Invasion Umlimited CD "Made in the Shade '78".....the song is not list

I don't think either are the Stones album that should have been. Both probably helped shape "Voodoo Lounge". Although mixing the two would have been fun, so to that end I agree with the "Wandering Offender" idea as the Stones album that never was. I remember the intersection I was at when I first heard "Don't Tear Me Up" on the radio, and "Sweet Th

The Doors "Strange Days" and, believe it or not, "Their Satantic Majesties Request". At the time I was building my Stones collection, all on cassette, so when CDs came into the picture, my first Stones CDs were not the ones most consider essential, hence I hadn't bought them on tape yet. That said, the much maligned "Satanic Majesties" still has a special plac

It's pretty late in the central time zone of the US of A, on this the evening of Bill Wyman's 75th birthday....but I thought I'd write a quick post to say that I am brand new to this forum. I've been reading "iorr" and the "tell me" board since the Voodoo Lounge tour, and it's high time I jump in. A few quick stats are in order I suppose.....
