I think that with Tattoo You in 1981 their mission was pretty much accomplished. Not as a live act but as a recording act. They seem to think the same if you study their setlists. Still, 1964 to 1981 is a long productive period compared with most acts.

...Why not - it might lure HMRS50 (or whatever his nick was) into the forum again. His polemics with GLS were a lesson in the finer arts. Never boring for a second. Thread gold.

Having a, decent, cover song as the lead single was a disappointment to me when the album came out. Otherwise the album was very loud and venomous, a strange combination of hard rock and synthesizers. It didn't do it for me, then or now, but maybe for someone else?

I guess the probability for a new album this year, or even the next year, is very slim. And a tour coming up before spring 2023 would be a surprise. So what are we looking forward to the next eight (or something) months? More merchandise? A new re-release? Solo material from Jagger - or a new movie? Or what?

Jazz musicians, who truly loves music, do not play exactly the same songs on every tour. And if they do they improvise on the songs or do different arrangement on them from tour to tour. If you play Satisfaction or JJ Flash for 1100 times, in more or less the same manner, - is that really for the love of music?

Personally, I think they should have quit by the turn of the millenium. Then they still had a couple of fresh albums behind them and the warhorses hadn't been beaten to death. Then they would have quit on some kind of top. Which is not the fact now. Money kept them coming back though. On a never ending tour.

That decision should have been taken decades ago in that case. It's too late to stop now. They have already decided to roll as long as it's possible. All the way to the end.

Can you gamble on a new Stones album in 2022 at the bookmaker's? What will the odds be? 1/10?

I think it's a bit sad that we, here in Sweden, have adopted the American way of naming stadiums and arenas. They used to have real names or nicknames - now it's the boring formula: Corporation plus arena (or stadium). Naomi Klein was right all the way. We live in a logo state.

Are we allowed to talk about news events now? Since the w-thing I have accepted that we can't talk about what goes on in the world outside the Stones bubble on this forum. Which, of course, makes me hesitant to comment on this event.

Congrats, Matt. I only have one question. It might be a bit impertinent so you don't have to answer it if you don't want to. - Do you make a living out of these Stones related activities or do you have a regular job on the side?

If the touring continues: Do it now! Who knows what the situation might be next year? You can't postpone things a year ahead at their age. Next summer the may not be able to tour. Take a well deserved break and do a fall tour. When Sir Michael turns 80 - call it a day and stop.

Ironically, it's often these kind of "lazy" threads that gets the most attention. The more elaborated threads just sink to the bottom. Tells you something about IORR, maybe? Or not...

It's a win-win situation: For the 80 year old man to have 35 year old lovers and for the young woman to secure her and her offsprings economy for the rest of their lives. Something a man in her own age rarely can provide. Marry her? Why should he do that? They don't even live together. And if it weren't for the pandemic Jagger would probably have found a new mistress by now. Pe

Yep, England and Germany deservedly in the final. Germany already has 8 EC gold medals (out of 12 possible), England 0 (2 silver medals though). Germany has the merits, England the audience. Both skillful teams though. Good luck to both of them.

Tongue and cheek, everybody. It's Johnny - don't make a hen out of a feather. I'm sure Jagger wouldn't care - he would only return the favor in a similar fashion.

So, we have a result: - England - Sweden on tuesday - Germany - France on wednesday I think the games will be tight but with England and Germany as favorites. My guess: ( England - Sweden 1-1, and 2-1 England on extra time. Germany - France 2-1 ) ...But of course I will root for my team - Sweden. Go, take your chance now!

I guess punk never really made it in the USA (despite The Ramones). Lydon was a portal figure for punk in England and large parts of Europe in the late seventies. He continued with PIL in the eighties and they also scored some success. And mainly - he always was a popular media figure. Never afraid of speaking out on almost anything. Not always to be taken seriously though - but sometimes you sho

So, England-Sweden in the first semifinal. Sweden managed 1-0 against Belgium yesterday in a very poor game. Some players sometimes relapse in mistakes women's football was accused for decades ago like poor ball control, passing and shooting. Usually commentators and experts never mentions this because it is not seen as pc to criticize women's football. But SVT has one expert, Daniel Na

Congrats to England. Spain the better team for most of the game but it all turned when England managed to equalize with only five minutes left of regular time. 2-1 to England on extra time. The game today: Germany versus Austria. Germany will be heavy favorites.

Here are the quarterfinals: July 20: England - Spain July 22: Sweden - Belgium July 21: Germany - Austria July 23: France - Holland My semifinals tip: (England-Sweden and Germany-France) My final tip: (England - Germany) Two covid cases in Sweden's team. Not a good sign. I don't know about the other teams.
