Quotedonvis After reading the booklet in the blu ray box, it seems like Keith was the impetus for: Get Close Depending on You Driving Me Too Hard and Tell Me Straight. Mick was the impetus for the other 7 originals. Not really a solo Mick album at all. Driving Me Too Hard and Tell Me Straight are generic Keith songs. The other ones sound more Jaggerish.

A Tumbling Dice opening and then a generic Keith tune. The only odd thing is Jagger singing it.

Am I the only one noticing that "Driving Me Too Hard" starts like "Tumbling Dice"? Almost the same intro riff.

I don't think it's unfair to call this a Jagger/Watt album. With the obligatory boring Richards ballad added. Only 3/5 of the iconic setting remain. So, the Rolling Stones authenticity can be questioned. However, I think it's the best we can get and a new album beats yet another tour anytime. Haven't listened through every song thoroughly yet so still SSOH is the gold nugget

Haven't had the time to listen to every song on the album but the ones I have listened to, with one exception (the lady Gaga one), have had typical latter day Jagger lyrics which you can sum up like this: Jagger's girlfriends, wives and lovers do not treat him right. He deserves more. Didn't he once write "Lucky in Love"? By listening to the lyrics you wouldn't bel

So sad to hear. And he was far too young to go. Once I defended him here when he was treated unfairly - which sadly happens now and then on internet forums. Safe journey, Eric.

QuoteSpud QuoteMathijs I love Sweet Sounds of Heaven, I like the track with Bill and Charlie, but for now really underwhelmed with all the other tracks. I know it always takes a while before I like new Stones material, but for now I just can't get over Jagger's nasal and gnarly voice, and I can't get through his mannerisms and over-pronunciation. Let's hope it grows on me.

What's the point collecting after the age of, say 50? At that age you have probably collected a lot of other stuff too. After a while you realize you may not have space for everything you have gathered and, maybe, no one to pass the collection on to. Then you have to start selling. Then you realize that most of the stuff you have collected is worth peanuts anyway.

I think streaming changed everything in the record business. Hardware isn't that interesting anymore. And with age you realize that collecting easily just become a burden in the end. I didn't think like this in 1989 though...

I actually think many of the interviews in so called renowned newspapers are pretentious, repetitious and boring. Why bring up the sixties and seventies again when there have been tons of books written about it? Do they assume that the reader is totally unaware of the band's history? Sure, you can find some nuggets in it also. If you can find them in the mass of texts...

Most newspaper journalists aren't Stones fans and those who are have all retired. That's why these embarrassing mistakes are made. These 30-40 year-olds know nothing about the blues, or even the sixties and seventies. It's even worse when it comes to etermedia. Often the journalist knows absolutely nothing about the band (except the things they google in advance).

The most talkative, and most fluent "Stone" was Brian Jones I think. Bill was also very easy to talk to. Keith is much better now when he's older. Sir Michael is up and down depending on his mood of the day and the interviewer. Usually though Jagger does the lion's share of interviews (sometimes all). That should be taken in consideration.

All in all it's great with a new album. Much better than another warhorse tour. But maybe we have a cancelled 2023 tour to thank for the album?

I have a feeling this is another Jagger solo album with some Richards riffs added to it. Maybe Keith has one or two songs on it after all? And Woody none?

QuoteStonesBuenosAires QuoteStonedRambler Why should Mick Jagger dress compliant to society's norms? That guy even got knighted with trainers on. What's next? Is his hairstyle not formal enough? I totally agree This is supposed to be a rock and roll forum and I read people complaining about how he should dress in front of royalty... ? Why should you wear work wear at work?

Marclaff: That is funny because upper class people like Sir Michael are the main contributors to the climate crisis simply due to their extravagant life styles. To me it's sheer hypocrisy.

The trainers obviously are due to his foot/ankle/leg problems (even though it's denied by some fans), so it's excused. He used to wear them as elevator shoes (for height improvement). Not having his jacket buttoned is a minor etiquette miss.

I think the co-ops with Sir Elton, Sir Paul and Lady Gaga is clever work because a) it broadens the public b) those names do better on the charts.

There is an interesting contrast between the private nature of Jagger's lyrics and his refusal to talk about anything private in other media.

It's not. It's about one of Jagger's many love affairs, God knows which.

To me it's the riffs that still defines them. That makes it worthwhile. The essence.Their ability to make instant hits seems to have vanished though over the years. Which is a shame because hits are important for any artist. Just some random thoughts... Which are yours?

My favorite Stones track since a Bigger Bang is Scarlet though. Even though it's a reissue from the 70s...
