Another thing with SSOH is that it's a ballad (soul) which means that they have to move either Gimme Shelter, Miss You or YCAGWYW to make space for it. Which calls for a decision to be made...

If you follow the standard setlists the last decades you will see that new material is included in the first set of the show, usually between song 3 and 8. After that it's the usual suspects. Usually they include 2 new songs which sometimes ends in 1 song before the tour is over. My guess is that the 2* new songs will be upbeat songs since that is the pattern of the first set of songs.

I think the difference is that Taylor is expected to shine on solo parts when Wood is not. So Taylor is judged harder than both Wood and Richards. And I don't think Taylor is as sharp as he used to be. In the end it's all about what you add to the mix. On the other hand, the premises weren't that good to begin with as Wyman told us. He wasn't allowed to chose songs or even a

Taylor and Wyman got involved solely due to the 50th anniversary- not because of anything else. Wyman didn't bother touring with them for one or two songs and was openly disappointed by the arrangement.

Quotedcba QuoteStoneage Isn't everything limited edition these days? You have limited editions and "limited editions"... When Genesis Pub releases a "limited" edition of a book printed at 1750 copies I call promo-BS. Generally a photo book has a printing of 2-3000 copies so printing only 1750 and calling it a limited edition is almost a lie. In this case, yes, 12

12 grand. I guess the people buying it must be doing it on pure speculation. Waiting for the price to move up. Limited edition? Isn't everything limited edition these days?

It doesn't matter. Just turn up and play. We're lucky if they can do just that. Don't expect to much, they are plus 80 now. The stage is of non importance whatsoever.

Taylor was underused on that tour to a point where it almost became embarrassing. At least he got a paycheck though. They could have built something around Taylor's involvement but they didn't. Instead they let it slip away...

If Jagger had been more honest with Taylor/Wood/Wyman and said "In this band me and Keith get the songwriting credits no matter what. That is part of the deal. You're free to contribute to the song writing but do not expect to get credited for that". Maybe these conflicts and sour grapes could have been avoided then?

Stock Aitken Waterman comes to mind. They produced the music and then picked the artist. I don't think they did singback though. The most popular English hit list show at the time, Top Of The Pops, was all playback as far as I know. So fake is nothing new in pop music...

I think Taylor left before the real money started kicking in. When Wyman left he had already made a fortune. I don't think Taylor was that well off when he left. Financially it was not a good decision to leave. But I guess his motivation to leave were on other grounds.

The guy was a successful singer/songwriter/producer/manager/businessman. He is not the only one in that category. I don't think he was a monster like he's portrayed by some here. He didn't invent playback/editing/voiceover/singback. Those have always been tricks of the trade.

Well put, TFD. It's a matter of perception. Very true and very diplomatic.

If you're into that 70s blues, jazz, fusion stage I guess it's brilliant - especially if you're a guitar solo aficionado. It reminds me of Santana and the likes of him. I think that was progressive in the 70s but not anymore. To me it seems frozen in time and as far away from rock and roll you could imagine. To put it shortly, technically brilliant but boring.

Quotewiredallnight Milli Vanilli, they were those two guys who did not sing one song themselves... They only moved their lips to the singing of someone else... It was the same thing with Boney M but no one made any fuzz about that. And... it's the same thing with many other artists due to new recording techniques. And singback and playback is still frequent. Poor Milli Vanilli were mad

It's 2024. The dynamic duo is plus 80 now. It doesn't matter what they play. Just play something. Back up singers? Of no importance at all. It's a wonder that they are still touring. Accept it for what it is and don't spend to much money in case you will get disappointed.

The weather in Sweden? We have had the coldest and snowiest winter in decades here. Especially in the north where I live. Lots of snow and temperatures down to -30 C and even below -40 C in some places far north.

It's an Herculian work really running this website on your own, BV. All kudos for that. I have differed with you about your decision to exclude world news and events, outside the fan bubble, from the site but I can understand why you made that decision. Anyway, thanks for your long time effort running this fan site.

It's a caricature not a portrait. It's supposed to be a bit over the top. That's the nature of a caricature. Caricatures are almost never flattering. I think keith can handle it. It's not the first caricature of him or the band...

They are back up singers and highly replaceable. I think Bernard stays since he is a guy and complements Jagger's voice the best. Lisa Fischer is the one that stands out though - not so much due to her voice but her sex appeal and stage presence rather. She added a new element to the show.

I like the drawing and I like the symbolism - Keith is a ever growing tree that outlives most things. (We had a table tennis champion named Jan-Ove Waldner who the Chinese called "The ever green tree" because of his endurance. He was also called Mozart by the way due to his skillfully elegant playing style...)

Yeah, you're right Treaclefingers. They all have their fingers in the royal jar. They are all royal blue boys. There is nothing radical with rock music anymore.
