These collaborations is a smart way for the dinosaurs to connect with the kids and stay on the charts. It hardly adds anything new though. It's just a way of polishing old music with a new lacquer. Usually a successful receipt. Ask Sir Reginald.

Of course I'm looking forward to a new album, their last one was 17 years ago, but I'm fully aware that the band peaked in the late seventies - that was the last time they were still relevant to the contemporary pop/rock scene. So my level of expectation is adjusted to that. Anyway a new album is much more exciting than another tour...

It's photo evidence for the tax authority I guess.

I don't think Steve Jordan "injected new life into the song". I would prefer Watts on this song any day. SMU is a beaten up warhorse by now. Simply boring. I wouldn't mind if they left it out. Still like the song though. The original studio version that is.

Okay, just to clarify: Jagger's ever growing nasality is not just "an act" as some propose - it's an actual physical phenomena. Just listen to how his talking voice have changed through the decades and you'll understand. Of course he's trying to handle this on stage but it's still there.

Sure Treacles - if you consider his age he's doing well. I can't help to notice the increasing nasality though. And I don't know if that is an age thing really. It kind of started in the mid nineties and developed from there. I'm fine with the fact that most people are not bothered with that. It's just a personal observation.

Yes I do. Listen to his talking voice and you will hear the same. And increasingly so. Maybe a portion of Stones' Dylan fans likes it? I'm not in that group though. Sorry. I guess I'm the only one though so don't worry...

There are many performers out there who really can't sing but still sounds good on recordings. "jagger's true voice"? i don't even know what that means so is blo

I like the slower studio version better. I don't know why they decided to speed it up for the live version. It doesn't do the song any good. At least it's different though...

QuoteTaylor1 QuoteStoneage QuoteTaylor1 QuoteStoneage Surely Darryl is a nice guy but he's overqualified for the job. You can have a jazz saxophonist in a rock and roll band but a jazz bassist is stretching it since the bass is the foundation of rock and roll. I think Charlie's love of jazz music led to this decision - which was the wrong one. For both parts. Not financially though...

I don't get this, in my view opportunistic, idea that the band always make the right choices, that playing the same songs all over again keeping out almost all new material after 1972 is a wise decision by Jagger et al and that it is stupid and impudent by fans to ask for anything else.

Quote24FPS QuoteGasLightStreet Quote24FPS I saw them twice in 1989, at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. I don't remember them playing Harlem Shuffle, and I was looking forward to it. They didn't play anything from Dirty Work when I saw them. I don't think they played Undercover of the Night either, though they might have one of the nights. They played UOTN all 4 shows. Yes GLS, you can add Undercover if you like. At least it was an honest effort. I would rank U in the same league as their 1973 to 1980 output. Not as good as Some Girls though.

I think that with Tattoo You in 1981 their mission was pretty much accomplished. Not as a live act but as a recording act. They seem to think the same if you study their setlists. Still, 1964 to 1981 is a long productive period compared with most acts.

Having a, decent, cover song as the lead single was a disappointment to me when the album came out. Otherwise the album was very loud and venomous, a strange combination of hard rock and synthesizers. It didn't do it for me, then or now, but maybe for someone else?
