That's a surprise. I didn't expect that. I don't know about touring though since they recently cancelled one. Thanks for the info.

I think you're close to the truth there, whitem8. He had to accept being second banana in the Stones. When Ronnie steps up to do a solo there is no big anticipation in the crowd. He had more artistical space in the Faces. I think drugs is a factor also: Drugs diluted his abilities. On the other hand: He got to join the greatest R&R band in the world. He fitted the bill. He blended in

It wasn't true through the sixties and part of the seventies though. Then they produced a new album every year and toured almost every year. Sure, they had time off then too. But we are talking months, not years then.

Colorful, great setlist, sometimes sloppy, sometimes well played. At the time it was considered their last tour...

Realistically nothing. Except maybe a re-release with bonus material or something. Otherwise I think they are done. I think they should do like Springsteen though and do a big sweep of unreleased material. While they are still able to. Before it's too late. They have nothing more to show. They did the last album and they have toured enough now.

Sure, RollingFreak. But you can argue whether the ticket prices are "genuine". If you charge high end prices it's only fair that you will be put under scrutiny. And the truth is his voice is more or less gone (and he had a frail voice to begin with), his hearing too. But I'm sure his audience is aware of this though.

I guess he was eager to tour his new material. Seems like he put a lot on effort into that. Like a last farewell or something. Otherwise you can always argue about ageing artists and money's value. I guess it's sold out anyway though.

There is money involved in their legacy so basically they need to plan for ex post already now (I guess it's already done). Their families must be involved in this of course. With time managent will be put in their hands. The other option would be to sell all the rights to an external part and cash in.

I actually liked their casual, sporty style, clothing back then. It was another concept, daytime shows, - I think they needed a colorful backdrop, stage and clothes included. After that tour - 57 shades of black and grey...

News sources in Sweden says Sir Rod Stewart, Kenney Jones and Ron Wood have reunited and recorded 11 new songs for an album due out in 2026.

To me an active year is either touring or a release of newly recorded material. Re-releases keep coming anyway with very little effort from the band members - with an exception for their boss member, Sir Michael Jagger, who, at least, take some part in these re-releases.

Outfits were, more or less, the same in 1981 and 1982. I don't think fashion changed that much between those years. And I don't think their outfits from 81-82 were ever considered fashionable. The 1981-82 tour was the last daytime outdoor show and the last bright colored one (outfits and stage). After that everything was painted black...

I don't know, Hockenheim. I'm not their salesman. I was just airing my own opinion. What I would like them to do. Nothing else.

Why don't they do as Springsteen and Dylan - do a clean sweep and release a lot of material from the vaults. The prospects of a new tour is getting slimmer and slimmer. And I don't think there is a huge demand for a new album (except from hard core fans). I think it has been said here before but I'll repeat it: Time is not on their side anymore. Not on our side either...

You know that also means that this forum will be, more or less, sealed off from what goes on in the world outside the devotion of old rock bands?

Quote24FPS QuoteRockman Same as Live By The Sword is not for sissies …… Bill was right, there's hardly any space for him to perform on that cut. (Although I still like it.) Now I'm curious about the other one he did with Andrew. Maybe he can bounce around a bit more on that one. Well, Bill is considered a swordsman (informal). Maybe that's the reason they picked him for the son

If The Rolling Stones were a Gaussian curve I would put the local maxima between 1968 and 1972 and the local minima at 1964 and 1982. That was the period when they shot to fame and their output really mattered. After that their musical output mattered less and less but their tours were more and more successful. I kind of view it as sow and reap. To narrow it down even more I would say their defin

The R&R Hall of Fame is an American institution. It's main focus is, of course, American artists. Very few non-American acts makes it to the list. To make it to the list the artist need to have made it big in the U.S. market as well. The rest of the world is of no importance.

The basic view in Sweden, and I guess all Nordic countries, used to be that society shouldn't be dependent on hand outs from the very rich. Now that has changed due to neoliberalism and the dismantling of the welfare state. In the US, I guess, that kind om mindset has never existed. Anyway, good on Keith.

You got to hand it to Sir Michael - he has stage presence. He's not just reading straight from the prompter like some others do. These kind of things are different from being a rock star on stage. Scary for some but not for Jagger. I bet he got a goodie bag afterwards...

The two big ones for me were French Connection and Mississippi Burning. I think French Connection was his big breakthrough. In that case rather late into his career.
