Looks like it's cold with ice on the field and people with long sleeves/jackets! 1997 all over again! I'm excited for everyone. Can't wait till my turn July 27.

QuoteHMS And if they had something it would be an album no better than the four albums we got in 30(!) years. Subpar, average, a unnecessary coda in their body of work. I just don't get this. I would think a lot of the people on IORR would be looking forward to any new music from the band we think enough of to either browse or post on a website dedicated to them. New material is something

QuoteCooltoplady I just cant watch someone that doesn't wash their hair or bath. Must be a female thing with me. The guy is gross. Ironic. This, in a nutshell, was the public perception of another well-known band in the early 1960s. Brian Jones could never understand it, since in reality he washed his hair multiple times per day.

If ticket sales aren't so hot right now for the rescheduled dates (Burl's Creek, for instance, was mentioned in the sticky thread), then... I honestly wouldn't be too surprised at this point that the Stones may fast-track some production on one or two of these songs that are supposedly almost finished and release it in time for the tour. It might sell a few more tickets. Hel

QuoteGasLightStreet There are a number of albums that don't have floaters on them. They're called AFTERMATH, BEGGARS BANQUET, LET IT BLEED, STICKY FINGERS, EXILE ON MAIN STREET, GOATS HEAD SOUP, SOME GIRLS and TATTOO YOU. What about Turd on the Run? That's a floater, isn't it?

Playing a new song or two on tour would be a nice carrot to us. If they are in the studio now, it is surely to finish up something for the tour. There is no reason that new material and tours should be mutually exclusive; these two things can promote each other. They have done it all kinds of ways in the past. Hell, Let it Bleed was released at the very end of the '69 tour. Expect the Stones

As always, fascinating threads here on IORR. Pretty different perspectives, for sure, just like what I heard about '78. I'm looking forward to some more takes on this fascinating tour. The pictures from LA are pretty impressive. It's a far cry from today's amenities--not a beer stand or video screen in sight. Just a sea of people. It's a wonder anyone ever got out to

In 2006 I lived within walking distance of Zilker Park in Austin, and I had a bunch of people come in for the show. Naturally, we over-indulged the night before. I could hear the soundchecks from my house the next day, but I was so hungover and wondering whether I could even make it over there. I felt like I was going to puke walking into the gates, but Ian MacLagan and the Bump Band was on alrea

Very sad that this thread fell off the first and even the second page. I'll just bump it by saying something that I don't think has been mentioned (not that I'm going to go through 300 pages of the thread..) -- Can we start a campaign to petition the Stones to not brickwall the new album (in the mastering sense)? That is my fervent wish. Don't give it the Bigger Bang treatm

"But it’s brickwalled to the point of being off-putting." I would say this about A Bigger Bang, which is a disaster in that sense. I don't think this is the case for VL. Sounds pretty good to me. I do like the more "live" sounding stuff on the outtakes, but I don't think you can call the album brickwalled in the mastering sense. Bridges and VL both have a nice

QuoteHairball Don't know if this was already posted (apologies if so), but interesting article from Pollstar dated April 2nd prior to Mick's surgery. Great stuff, thanks! I am really optimistic about the prospects for rescheduled dates sooner rather than later, and I am holding on to my tickets. Wishful thinking, but I hope they can fill the time finishing the new album. I think

QuoteOpenG If Mick's condition is due to some bone fracture that would limit is onstage performance then the doctors are correct and need to recover and heal. I would not want to see the stones if Mick was sitting down in a chair that would ruin the whole performance for me. Other artists have sat down in a chair on stage to keep the gigs alive - David Grohl and Axl Rose come to mind the las

Assuming everything will go on as planned, albeit at a later date, I can only assume something like this may be difficult to pull off. First, venues must be rebooked. Availability may be limited. I would think this also incurs fees if you cancel a date too close to showtime, as the venue must now try and book a new customer on short notice. Kind of like when you cancel your hotel stay 2 days

Quote5stringTele Quotegotdablouse Quote1985jayer Quoteweinerdog The fact that they're still selling tickets to TBD dates seems like a hopeful sign to me. All the best to Mick! The tour is being scheduled for the early fall now, September east coast and Chicago , October is south and west part of USA. Was looking forward to NOLA, looks like I will still go to NOLA and drink some Absinthe. F

I'm floored like everyone else, and I hope Mick makes a full recovery. I doubt they would announce that the tour was cancelled immediately, even if it was likely to happen that way. Better to postpone the inevitable if there is even some small chance that the tour was still possible. There will be a lot of speculation on here today about what is going on with Mick, and unfortunately it&#

I was listening to the great early take on Chain Saw Massacre and gained a lot more appreciation for this song and the whole UC album. Keith singing parts as mentioned above in this old thread, and it seems to me that it may be a Keith song with lyrics at least partially inspired by Anita.

According to Martin Elliott, Rough Justice was the last song cut for the album. Wikipedia: "Recording began at La Fourchette, Posé sur Cisse, France in June 2005" and ONNYA May-June 2005 (no citations however). Charlie was said to play on the ONNYA theme in reference to repeatedly returning to the studio. No mention of either song before May 2005 on the Zentgraf site that I could find (

Quotecharlesbaudelaire Guys, tell me, is that really Stevie Ray Vaughan at the 0:48 mark. He lived in Dallas at that time, and he was 20 years old. It makes perfect sense why he would want to see that show. That hat is distinctive. Charles Baudelaire 1821-1869 Certainly more plausible than Mick Taylor coming off the plane. If not for the hat and nose I might not have noticed. Re-revie
