Quotefranzk Nice documentary on that tour. I've always wondered where the rest of that footage from the Granby Hall concert is. Given what's in this film, it sounds like the second Leicester concert was a pretty good performance (at least by 1976 standards) And in any case, I would love to see/hear the version of "Key To The Highway" they did that night when Clapton

Some additional info on this doc: Also, if there is any left whose still hanging onto the delusion that Keith Richards's heroin addiction is the epitome of "cool," then I dare them to go click onto the 19:41 point of that video. Keith's mumbling and vacant stare into the mirror has to be one of the saddest and most pathetic things I've ever seen.

QuoteNeddieFlanders Quoteexilestones My friend saw Bobby in LA 1981, several concerts before Orlando. Nico reports that Bobby started in Orlando, October 24th. Maybe Bobby came for one LA gig then started full time on the tour in Orlando? How do we tell which shows Bobby performed? Is there video of everything on YouTube or various places? I guess you can tell from listening to boots. I can

Quotedjango QuotePlink ^^^ Your daughter wears it well (and your shirt is very cool, too). How nice that she's a Stones fan and you can enjoy the fantastic experience of a live Stones gig together Thanks Plink, her first gig was the August 13, 2007 concert in Düsseldorf. It was like a dream coming true to me - taking my daughter to a Rolling Stones concert. That was the night before sh

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotestevecardi Glad to see there's a lot of love for Ernie Watts here. His saxophone playing with the Stones is one of my favorite parts of the 1981 tour. The live versions of "Neighbors" and "Beast of Burden" from Tempe as still my favorite for these songs: the band--and especially Ernie Watts---perform inhuman magic. Furthermore, his playing

It's interesting, for years, the Knebworth setlist made this one of the most coveted recordings for me to find, and when I finally got my hands on one, it was like Star Wars the Phantom Menace all over again: the dissapointment killed any hope that the leadup hype could be redeamed. (Biggest disapointment for me was the much-vaunted performance of "Country Honk"; it's, in fact

I was going through my Stones album collection today, and came across this 1979 compilation. I honestly can't understand why the Stones chose to under-promote it from the moment they released it, to the point where they didn't even release it in the U.S. It's a great 'best of' album with some lesser-known gems from the silver-era (cough, "Dancing With Mr D." c

I just heard the version of JJF from Keith's 1979 CNIB benefit concert in Oshawa that several fans have discussed over the years. Um, wow, that version is...different. It sounds like Chuck Berry is having a three-way with Motorhead and a 1990s grunge band.

QuoteGasLightStreet QuotestevecardiThe 1976 Tour... when the band started playing "Tumbling Dice" and "Happy" in a different key than the studio version/live versions from 1972-1975.... AFAIK, the Stones have never played TD or Happy in the different keys they did from 1976-1982 since the Steel Wheels tour... I recall something about this a long while back but never kept up

QuoteJMARKO Quote24FPS Secondly, In '73 and '76, they played songs we never heard in America from GHS and Black and Blue. I'm not sure if Dancing With Mr. D, or Hot Stuff have ever been played on an American stage. Hot Stuff was played in Washington D.C. on opening night of the 1994 tour and at the Tower Theater in PA in 2002. I think that's it for the US. It was playe

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteMathijs IMAX was fantastic at the time, being able to see the Stones from so close after 8 years was amazing. But when you see it now it is quite horrendous, with about 75% being fake... Mathijs And the sound (especially Keith) that was so great in the IMAX theater back then, now is crap... What happened with Keith's guitar sound after the SW-tour anyway

Quoteskipstone No. Listen to HTW on Love You Live (the best version of the song ever I think). The 'honky tonk, honky tonk' chorus is much better than that long one worded chorus. The 1976 Tour----that was not only when Mick started singing the HTW chorus with the "honky tonnk....honky tonk...women," line, but also when the band started playing "Tumbling Dice" and
