Black Sabbath in June in Vienna Brian Setzer`s Rockabilly Riot in July in Amsterdam ...and, though no tickets available, the Rolling Stones in Havanna, that should make my day

I think it`s not musical quality, but lack of a certain spirit, of some real nastiness, maybe. It`s hard to define what makes a Stones album work. I`m with Jeroen, it doesn`t make my stones blood rush. Whereas, these current shows in South America actually do, very much so. If they bear recording, editing, overdubbing etc. and we hear it back on an official artefact, is another matter entirely.

not intending to make anyone jealous, I`m just glad to be in Havanna from March 10 to April 4. Hope that gives me a chance to get in on the act, if there`s one, and negotiate for tickets while I`m there. I`m white, non-cuban, non-american, never been there, completely unsure of what will happen. That`s great! Probably...

...if I get it right from CMA CGM`s website, the Max Champion cuban feeder left Kingston Sun 21, arriving Havanna port Thu 25. Whatever there`s on board, you can`t take a look at what`s in the containers. (Champion Max, by the way, isn`t that a state-of-the-art american toilet? I still hope for the Havanna show, but we might have to flush it...) And that Steve Bing thing does not give me a good

to me, it`s much more fun without earplugs, be it going to concerts or my own playing, which is as loud as can be. This is of course irresponsible in the long run. I`ve got tinnitus and, at 57, will soon have to get hearing aids. There`s a price to pay. I don`t regret it, it was and is so much fun. Headphones at full volume for hours though, I think that`s the worst. Don`t, if you care to avoid.

to me, they were often sounding like a young band playing new material. Thought I heard it all before - not. Rio, just great

-you don`t need to write a truckload of novels to reach literary immortality. What she did was just great (imagine writing ONE Brown Sugar, fair enough. let alone all the other stuff...now that refers back to .... each to his own intensity of creativity output, or something like that. It`s not a matter of counting the words, or the songs Great writer, H.L. R.I.P.

the only concert ever, during which I fell asleep, was one by Eric Clapton. He was playing great, and I do respect him, but after three tunes he had me snoring. What is it with him? I guess, when he gave up the booze, he lost his devil at the crossroads. Some guys don`t seem to get along with leaving clean, others do. Good luck to him, though. Maybe it`s - just my imagination

they are great, seen them in Amsterdam last year. Great band. ...Still, I`ve also lived through two shows of The Who in 1975, that was completely out there, not to be compared. I`ve never since heard music being played so intensely excellent and powerful, whatever genre. (And after the 2d show in Düsseldorf, Keith Moon destroyed his huge drumkit, the entire backstage area and his hotel room. If

I`ve booked a great hotel in the old town of Havannah, for three weeks in march, months ago when the rumours came up. If the show doesn`t happen - why not enjoy the place just as well? And borrow a guitar and play start me up in calle o reilly, and go on the Hemingway trail (don`t!) cheers

exactly...Carlsberg or Heineken? San Miguel on tap is a fine one, as I just found out in Andalusia. On the Main Offender tour, at a show in Cologne, Keith actually sang "how I wish that you were beer again" instead of here again. True! I was there. Was a great show, otherwise.

I was just thinking of it today, not knowing it turned 25. Rick Derringer: "It could use a few more guitars". End of the Rick/Keith friendship. Derringer is a huge A-hole, but his work with Johnny Winter is classic. And Rock`n`r hoochie coo is a great song, he did that. Talk is cheap is wonderful, but I like Main Offender even more.

...contemplating doing the dishes before the wife comes back from a ladies`afternoon. Then listen to Knebworth, Hand of Fate. Then detune my guitar to 5string g and play it all again. Yawn... it`s all fine. Or I`ll draw some self portraits with closed eyes. An austrian painter does that, with good results.

He`s growing fat (tries to hide it with a towel) and is slowing down. Age is catching up with him. His eyes look tired. Yes, it was 1984.

that`s true, and coke is getting cheaper and cleaner. The war against drugs is lost. ...Going to Jamaica to kick anything wouldn`t work for me. I once smoked a bit of Ganja on Tobago, that stuff is horrendous. Like a mix of H and LSD. How some of those Rastas toast themselves for a lifetime and maintain a life, is beyond me. No wonder that in rastafarian societies, it`s most often the women who

Jagger is a british name, but it`s not common. Refers to gypsies in the middle ages, definitely in England. Before or after the Boston Tea Party, I couldn`t find out.

borderline vulgar, I`ll keep that for a song. Maybe his conservative and clean-living attitude is a psychological rejection of a wild-sounding name he`s living under. Serves him right to suffer...

interesting that no-one brought this up before, or rarely. It`s a great name, sounds fast, dangerous and dirty. In geneolic (?) history, I think the word jagger is connected to roving, wandering around. Perhaps it sounds more fascinating to someone who`s not british. It`s really just great if you think of it. I mean, Robert Plant. What`s that?

Main Offender is a classic. Opener 999 I could hear on endless rotation. Mixed in with some sleep tonight balladry, I wouldn`t mind more of the similar. A new Stones album, if they throw it together like Doom and Gloom and don`t fuss with it too long, would be nice too. I`ll have anything, really, and be glad they still did something.

wasn`t it the same year as "Kung Fu Fighting"? Whoever did that, some Carl Douglas or so. I remember feeling guilty liking both tunes, couldn`t own up to it to my friends.

The Who 1975 in Dusseldorf, front row, Pete`s side. Muted hearing for two days running, which was convenient at lessons in school. Ted Nugent in the seventies. He was wearing earplugs, not me. Motorhead, ACDC and a thousand more shows in the coming decades. Loudest Stones show was Hockenheim, I think 1995. Along with the headphone habit, it gave me damaged hearing - the high frequencies are

that`s great, with the reggae-ish interludes and the coked-up guitars. It doesn`t need Jagger`s hectic screeching on top of it, I guess he just got carried away with the excitement (probably not often during those sessions), the powder and no decent lyrics. The singing dynamics really are close to Dave Vanian`s on "New Rose". Strange.

a serious german newspaper suggested, being that it took them so long to tie the knot and in view of the ongoing age-gap, that Erwin wasn`t even born when the relationship began.
