Have the Stones ever specifically said they're working on a new album? There's numerous media quotes attributed to insiders that they're working on tracks and the assumption is then made that these tracks will materialise on an album.

I listened to Exile a few nights ago and what stands out is the wide range of musical styles the band pulled off with aplomb. The run of Tumbling Dice>>>Sweet Virginia>>>Torn and Frayed>>>Sweet Black Angel>>>Loving Cup is just a sheer delight. While there are couple of also-rans like I Just Wanna See His Face, they don't detract in the slightest from t

Quotedcba QuoteS.T.P This tour is IMO the very best of the Stones playing their a$$ off Ecept in Auckland where they were pitiful! Logically there should be a few nice surprises concerning the 73 "winter" tour up at Dime = upgrades of well-known (aud) tapes. Junk all your VGP and OBR boots. They'll soon be obsolete! >< Sooooo, are we going to get an official rel

Quote24FPS This should be blended into 'What's Next'? There hasn't been whiff about Knebworth. That would seem more different than Atlantic City. I would like to see them both, on Blu Ray. We probably won't be seeing an official Knebworth release any time soon.

Massive fake spoiler: the new album is taking so long because they're putting the finishing touches to a four CD rock-blues-jazz-funk odyssey.

During their last UK tour, the Stones even flew from London to Birmingham, a 2hr 25min drive. They arrived by helicopter at Twickenham from central London. When the mega-wealthy ditch their tiny trip private and 10 mile helicopter rides, I'll know they're being sincere, not just cynically jumping on a highly visible political message to get more traffic and likes.

Quotebuttons67 yes but what an artist throws away and didnt want to be seen might interest some one else in later life. some of the stones throwaways are better than what many bands keep. The Stones throwaways won't be compared to the work of other bands, they'll only be held up in comparison to the Stones previous work. If they never release some vast archive set, I won't co

Our boys being our boys will undoubtedly have other ideas for their unreleased stuff. I just can't see them doing a straight Anthology release, it's too predictable and obvious for them. All their old peers have been down that road. They'll want to try and find a fresh angle. And while they're still raking the cash in from touring, there's no urgency to do an antholog

QuoteRocky Dijon Clapton's Beard, Father Ted! That would be worse than what Andrew did to his tracks on METAMORPHOSIS! Mind you, as a tribute album, it's an idea with merit so long as it wasn't released as The Rolling Stones. Or just include the occassional voxless track as a fabulous bonus on future re-releases?

They could, if there was sufficient motivation, ask other vocalists to sing on their voxless but otherwise complete backing tracks. I know that idea might go down like a bag of cold vomit with MJ but if he's never wanted to commit a vocal, why not let some of the young guns try their hand?

Quoteschillid New PRINCE re-release of 1999 shows how to do it: 1999 Super Deluxe Edition Tracklist: ***** All tracks previously unreleased Exactly Schillid. The Stones seem to be the only Triple AAA artist who can't get their super deluxe releases, well, super deluxey. Apart from the book, it's a box of trinkets.

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteLynd8 I liked the Exile set. SG was good but could have been so much better... SF could have been MUCH better. It seems like they put less effort into each one. If they can't be bothered, They should just release the tracks with re-recorded vocals and fixes etc..- especially the great 60's stuff. A lot of SF leftovers are on EOMS. The Stones, or UMe, c

Quotefrankotero I like to think karma takes care of these people. After all what can anybody really do, tell on them? I don't like these situations either but some people feel privileged, that's just the way it is. Karma can wait. I've encountered aggressive, pushy drunks at shows and you deal with them by pushing back. Last one at U2 got thrown about 20 feet when he kept tryin

There are significant numbers of people out there, young and old, primed to take offence. These people have always existed but they tended to be prim, elderly, conservative types who were offended by sex on TV. This thin-skinned disease has now infected the left, who have abandoned their traditional commitment to liberal values of free speech. <<Rant ends>>
