Quotejbwelda We just need for all of us to be exposed to it and let the chips fall where they may. As far as I know, human beings have not made any endangered species lists, shedding a few millions will do the world good. Doing anything else is just hiding your head in the sand, or, more likely, political posturing. Take for instance this bit from Donald "its all a hoax" Trump: its all

QuoteNate The government here in the U.K. keeps promising to get testing up to 25,000 tests a day but even at that rate it would take around 8 years to get everyone in the country tested.Of course not everyone in the country may need to be tested but it would certainly be smart to introduce much wider testing and also introduce a legacy test to know if people have had it and are now clear so we c

QuoteOpenG Pearl Jam - Seven O'Clock Been listening to the new album all morning.great record with grunge in your face and songs with space and not in your face with great lyrics and vocals. I already learned one song on guitar - Quick Escape sounds sort of like Rage Against The Machine which is good. Retrograde by favorite so far today probably will change. yep it's

Quotebv I do still see press conferences where the top politicians are standing less than two meters apart (i.e. less than 6 feet apart), sharing microphones, touching the same table, and so on. No wonder they get the virus, they are breaking all the laws of preventing the virus from spreading around. Good 2m between Boris and other speakers at daily press conferences and a good 2m from the cha

QuoteChris Fountain In my honest opinion, this is nothing more than overblown case of media induced paranoia. The Flu has subsided in China and South Korea. On and on. When they show 20,000 deaths versus 5 billion folks on earth then I have to question as with the population explosion a number like 20k doesn't frightened me from a statistical standpoint. YES it is Sad folks die

We thought we had a strong Public health service and still we are suffering hard times. Don't even want to think about a country with a weaker Public health service than ours Italy, Spain, have excellent health systems, hence the correct ar

QuoteCaptainCorella QuoteWelshEdge1 QuoteNate I think this lockdown will last longer than the predicted three weeks. Nate Double. At least. The official line here in Australia - as frequently mentioned by our Prime Minister - is at least SIX MONTHS. And, he's most probably right. I work for the nhs in England in a communications role (not patient facing) and was told 10 days ago to

Quotechris girard I expect the WH to call for an end this weekend. I doubt if many local governors will pay much attention. That would be utter madness. I don’t have much of a grasp on the American political system but very much hope the mayors and governors ignore the latest from Trump

Interesting read from the German virologist. Suspected warm temperatures were a bit of a red herring given relatives in Australia tell me it remains an unseasonably hot summer and cases still spreading there

UK 30 day travel ban (all but essential travel) announced (BBC). Would expect this ridiculous situation of people being told not to go to pubs/restaurants but the establishments not being told to close to be ironed out today or tomorrow too. Most UK cinema chains now closed (Odeon, Vue, etc) voluntarily

Quotedaspyknows QuoteThru and Thru QuoteSipuncula QuoteJadedFaded It is vital that everyone take precautions now. Most people are not taking even simple precautions. At the gym, I see few people washing their hands for 20 seconds. These simple precautions are needed before there are many known cases in an area. otherwise, we won’t “flatten the curve” and health systems will be overwhelmed. Everyt

On a more personal note, I went to visit my dear old 93 year old Mum at her Care Home in Epsom she is in ,this afternoon. Only able to speak to reception on inte

i work centrally in the NHS in England. Testing capacity next week will go up from 1500 to 10000 per day and strategy here in England is to 'push' any peak to the other side of easter when a near capacity health system becomes less pressurised with regular 'winter' conditions (frail elderly, flu, respiratory, etc). This frees up more capacity for caring for corona patients.
