I tried. No luck. I'm in LA. If anyone is kind enough of to give me their second ticket, I'd buy eternally grateful. And drinks are on me.

Cocaine Eyes -- I'm in LA and can't make it to San Diego. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Any chance you could email me? My info should be listed under my username. Thanks in advance!

Any word on whether a rumored LA show is still happening? Or should I give up hope and aim for San Diego?

Awesome thread. I've been trying to find that McCartney version of "Woman." I heard it recently on a Beatles radio show, and it was incredible. Any idea where I could dig it up?

Agree with ab. Their run from the late 60s to the early 70s is unparalleled by any band. I'm a huge fan of Life on the Road and Sleepwalker (the song). Although my favorite album from this era has got to be Misfits, which has Rock 'n Roll Fantasy, and Black Messiah. Ray Davies is a genius.

"For a Dancer" from the Late for the Sky album is an incredible song. The whole album is pretty great, actually.

Fun topic. Keith probably has the greatest gap between live absences (which seems to be none) and studio absences (of which there are many).

Van's version of Caravan on The Last Waltz is one of the greatest performances in rock and roll. I just came off of watching that video every night for like 6 weeks straight. I would make a pilgrimage to that video. Its just the greatest.

RIP Hitch. I didn't agree with everything either, but he was one of the best.

Led Zeppelin. Ugh. As Keith once said, "they're aptly named. They never took off." I enjoy some songs, but usually Robert Plant's vocals are just...grating (as are many of their worshipping fans).

I love Faces-era Rod Stewart. I really love Fleetwood Mac. I think its an interesting combo. But it also sounds like this could potentially be a cheesy Vegas act. Has anyone seen them live? Is it worth it? Any input is welcome.

I've wondered this too. For what it's worth, here's a quote from timeisonourside.com: "Gimmie Shelter is a classic (example of a song where the music and words came together). That, I just slapped down on a cassette while waiting for Mick to finish Performance." -- Keith

Sorry if someone brought this up already -- just got back from The Fighter, a surprisingly great movie, not too cliched, with 4 phenomenal performances. Anyways, CYHMK is featured in the soundtrack during a training scene. It was great. And the whole soundtrack was pretty awesome. I recommend.

...Okay maybe except for All Along the Watchtower. But seriously, the Keith licks, the interplay with Brian Jones, the unstoppable rhythm section, and Mick's young voice. Oh, and let's not forget Stu's GREAT boogie piano. 2:55 of pure, unadulterated, rock and roll. Hell, upon revisiting the album, I'm beginning to think Now! is just about the best thing in the Stones colle

What about the solo on Worried About You? I'd take that any day over Hand of Fate. But no, Ronnie was well-suited for the Stones lifestyle. Ronnie also wasn't born in Alabama, which probably helped.

Does anyone know the musical line-up for Claudine? It sounds like just one acoustic and one electric, but maybe I am not picking up on another guitar. And who is playing bass here?

Apologies if this has already been posted. I might have lost sight of it buried in all those top five song threads. Does anyone have any evidence for Keith writing the Gimme Shelter lyrics? I thought he wrote them too, but I've never actually read anything that confirms this. He wrote the choruses to Satisfaction, Angie, Wild Horses, maybe Beast of Burden. Mick filled in the rest though...

While we're on the subject of Street Legal, would anyone be willing to tell me what the heck the song "Senor" is all about? Its awesome, but incredibly cryptic (even by Dylan standards)...
