The Beatles also added current vocals to ancient tracks for Anthology and even this past Autumn.

Quotefrankotero If Charlie was the real boss I hope there's nothing like the Brian Epstein situation with The Beatles. For those who don't know they sort of fell apart after Brian's death. Agreed. I would hate to think the band won't still be touring stadiums in their nineties as a result.

Possibly he's done promoting his album so he doesn't need to make outrageous statements about other artists. Something Keith knows a thing or two about as well.

Supposedly it's 1990s material with a couple tracks from the CBS years. We'll see if that's true. If it's back to the classic 1970s era, this is truly unexpected.

Pino is an old friend of Keith and Steve. He was one of the final three to cut with the band at Sandymount Studios in the Autumn of 1993. He's not holding Darryl's signature bass because he replaced him. Friends visit when a band is cutting tracks or rehearsing. Even if he sat in as a favor so there was a bass player if Darryl is sick, it's just sitting in.

Wow. Cher without Sonny in the Howard Mackie days when she seemed like Elton John's counterpart. Seen now, it seems Lady Gaga patterned herself on this version of Cher when she first hatched on the music scene. Is it Vegas? Sure, right down to her own plink-plink and overdone brass section. It's also damn close to Mick at Live Aid.

Stu used to golf with them. They shared Rupert Lowenstein's services. Patrick Woodroffe worked for both of them. Andrew King and Peter Jenning who promoted The Stones in the Park in 1969 also managed Pink Floyd for a time. I think that's about it apart from the very early days of The UFO Club when Brian and Mick saw The Pink Floyd Sound in concert.

Very sad to hear. Even more so for those who loved her. Lives leave holes that can never be filled when their lights are extinguished prematurely.

If you embrace any artist's work through this many decades, it is similar to a lifelong relationship. You remember the late teens and twenties when life was fresh and exciting. The energy of those years can never be recaptured. The next couple of decades, the relationship remains strong, you're no longer "kids," and those years are transitional without realizing it. You hit mi

QuoteDoxa Well, let's say that I am not that annoyed by this latest...Maybe it is a new low - if we forget for the sake of the argument the old GOT LIVE tracks - but I think it is more a case of semantics at this stage. Like Dylan put it, "I used to care, but things have changed"... - Doxa I wrote my lengthy response to your lengthy post because I thought we were saying two di

Putting out "Fortune Teller" and "I've Been Loving You Too Long" with fake audience noise was shameful, though hardly unheard of in the 1960s. It would have been better to release the two songs as bonus studio tracks rather than pretend they were performed in concert, but it was a different era and labels and producers didn't care as much about "product" ha

Quotegotdablouse It's a Jim Barber track : ...that sounds a lot like the riff Keith had been playing around with since the GHS sessions, called (by the bootleggers at least) "Brown Leaves", "Golden Caddy", etc... It's a Jim Barber track from the UNDERCOVER sessions that features Charlie and Stu and Chris Kimsey. I agree it sounds like one of those songs Keith

QuoteGasLightStreet And the Tell The Truth song got left off. "Tell the Truth" is an early version of "Mess It Up" and yes, it sounds like they really, really, really, really, really, really lost something. Incidentally Don Was brought in Andy Watt to work on that song with Mick a few years before Macca's dinner with Ronnie. Don't forget "Driving Me Too H

QuoteStoneage Come on, I think the ceiling height should be at least 2,40m on this forum. Not 1,80. GSL can be a bit hot-tempered sometimes but he's not wrong here. This forum is not a church. That was my point. It was a month ago and it didn't become a big deal so why worry?

QuoteBig Al QuoteRocky Dijon For what it's worth, Ronnie hasn't lived in Ireland for decades. I don't believe Keith is an actual citizen. I believe he stated he couldn't vote, though he might be able to now! All three are still British citizens. Keith would’ve first been eligible to naturalise years ago. He didn’t bother then, so I’m not why he would now. Just a lightheart

QuoteStoneage As I understand Keith is an American citizen and Ronnie an Irish citizen. Sir Michael, due to tax reasons, is a citizen of nowhere. Is the Grammy's an American price award or is it open to the world? It's a bit odd that they are nominated for the Brit Awards since none of them are British. But I guess that how it works in this new brave world. For what it's worth,

In the sixties, the Grammy's ignored rock since the voters were of an older generation. In the late seventies, they began to take notice. SOME GIRLS had the best reception in terms of its nomination for Album of the Year. By the time they moved to CBS, pressure was exerted to ensure Mick and the Stones had nominations for Best Rock Vocal Performance. CBS also landed them a Lifetime Achieveme

QuoteGasLightStreet Billy Preston started working with The Rolling Stones in 1970 for what would amount to 2 tracks on STICKY FINGERS and one on EXILE. It's not like he was new except for a tour. 2 tracks on SOUP and the 1973 tour and at the end of that year, the IORR sessions and then in 1975 the BLACK AND BLUE sessions (hence his playing on TATTOO YOU). Pretty sure Billy plays on more t

QuoteGasLightStreet At the moment it's difficult to conjure up any info as to why Billy hooked up with The Stones in 1970 but I'm going to guess it had to do with The Beatles. Keith played bass on THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT in 1969 before the Stones headed to L.A. to finish LET IT BLEED. They first met Billy on their first tour and saw him when they played Shindig as well. Lik
