Tucson Train is the only song on Western Stars that is worth listening twice. The rest sucks tremendously since the songs are boring and the cheesy orchestra drags the album down completely.

QuoteTheBlockbuster QuoteStraycat13 Quoteschillid Following The River Great song. If I could rewrite history, the Stones should've come back touring already in 2010, and playing Pludered My Soul and Following The River as their two new songs of the tour, and Doom and Gloom + One More Shot should've never happened. Plundered & River are the worst Frankenstein-productions I´v

QuoteGasLightStreet [... mostly nonsense...] No one in the whole wide world would call an album that contains: - One Hit (To The Body) - Harlem Shuffle - Winning Ugly - Dirty Work - Had It With You a "bad album". Oh, I have to correct myself: ONE does. One person only. You don´t need to be fanboy to like DW. When it was released a lot of my friends who weren´t Stones-fa

Mistakes were always a part of it. This is R n R, not a piano concert by Rachmaninoff. At least it makes sure that the playing is actually LIVE. You can´t say that of many of today´s superstars.

QuoteTornAndFried We can agree TY had a different gestation than most of other albums but that doesn't define it as a compilation. It's still a collection of original and unreleased songs from the same artist. As Spock would say "that is highly illogical." ...from different periods... from different periods. That alone is proof enough that TY is a compilation Btw. M

QuoteGasLightStreet Somehow you can't handle what "album" means. I know that any bunch of songs is/can be called an "album". But a "regular new studio album" is totally different from "previously unreleased reworked/finished/updated songs from different periods". Especially when there were other "regular new studio albums" released after re

QuoteTornAndFried They don't need the additional pressure of their fans I agree. But I don´t think they care about any "additiional pressure of their fans". They do what they do and it takes as long as it takes. Fans are always longing for a new album, had the Stones ever felt any pressure, we would have had 5 albums since 2005. They probably will be toying around with their ske

QuoteSomeGuy For a few years ('64-'68) they weren't exactly dwarves, I think they had about as many hits as the Stones and Beatles during that period (give or take a few). Indeed. Like the Stones or The Who they were part of the "british invasion". But for the Stones and The Who this was only a starting point, for The Kinks however it turned out to be a dead end stree

There will never be a better intro than the instrumental part of "Continental Swift". The mother of all intros - taylor-made.

QuoteWorriedAboutYou A reunion at this stage would not only be pointless, but humiliating and depressing for everyone involved. I absolutely agree. The Kinks are forgotten by the general public. They would have to play for a handful of fans in some tiny spot in Soho. The Kinks were always dwarfs compared to the Stones, Beatles, The Who. A couple of good songs they had, but so did the Searchers

QuoteGasLightStreet STEEL WHEELS [...] it was a magnificent return to being vital, which there was absolutely zero of with the previous "album" aka the worst Rolling Stones album ever aka fake Stones. Yakety-yak. As usual just babbling, turning facts upside down, no substance. There never was a "fake Stones" album. Steel Wheels is everything but vital, most songs are bo

QuoteGasLightStreet STEEL WHEELS outsold THE 1986 DISASTER by over a million copies in the US alone and continues to do so. So not only was it not "probably" the first album for "over the world somewhat disappointed", it was a magnificent return to being vital, which there was absolutely zero of with the previous "album" aka the worst Rolling Stones album ever aka fa

Quotekeefriffhard4life steel wheels was good but voodoo lounge was great Artistically speaking Steel Wheels was disappointing compared to DW, Undercover, ER SG. Voodoo Lounge was king of disappointment, imo. Yet there are stellar moments reflecting former greatness on both albums - but just a few. The majority of SW and VL content is simply bland, uninteresting and subpar. Some songs I

QuoteGasLightStreet STEEL WHEELS is 1969-1972 compared to the 1986 disaster. Steel Wheels probably was the first Rolling Stones album ever that left many fans all over the world somewhat disappointed. - Yet Sad Sad Sad & Hold On To Your Hat & Break The Spell have Exile-quality. (Those songs, as good as they are, still are not as good as 80% of DW´s songs.)

He doesn´t have to dye his hair because it is not his hair anyway. Imo he is wearing a wig (a toupee to be more accurate) for at least 10-15 years. In the 80/90s he had less hair than today, how come? He wears a wig like John Wayne & Frank Sinatra did. But their wigs were ridiculous sights to see, Springsteen´s wig (a toupee to be more accurate) looks more natural but nevertheless you can

They dont play clubs anymore, it´s too hot in there. They have always complained about the incredible heat in such small venues. Too dangerous at their age, I think. They could use ventilators on stage but the cool air would make every bone in their bodies hurt like hell the next day. We have to accept that certain things are no longer possible for them.
