So, even after the Marines leave the embassy compound en-masse, there isn't an armoury on site for Quinn and the only remaining Marine to grab something better than their sidearms before venturing into the tunnel system?

Gutted. I'm so glad I got to see the Suffering Bastards in a small club venue here in Sydney earlier this year after the Stones Oz tour was postponed. What a great musician!

QuoteNaturalust Ok, it's a job, I get it. But I'm sure you'd probably prefer to play your own tunes if given the opportunity and the same financial incentive. Or at least play your own style and not have to dress up like Bill Wyman. Rock and Roll is about freedom of personal expression, among other things. I get to do a lot more than that - life is not binary. With the guys in ou

QuoteNaturalust The dressing and acting and playing as close to the band they are impersonating has always seemed silly and strange to me....like an Elvis impersonator show it seems more like circus entertainment than a musical event. Not every Rolling Stones fan in Australia can afford $350 or $400 for a ticket to see the real thing, and they only tour here every 5 years or so anyway. Tribute

I'm the bass player in an Australian tribute band. We mix things up depending on the type of gig or event - sometimes we do a generic "modern" era show, other times we focus on the 70s or do a Jones-era 60s set. It's a lot of fun, the audiences love it, and the money is really good.

If you are wedded to iTunes, then a used iPhone without a sim card would be a good option to replace an iPod - an iPod touch is basically an iPhone without phone capabilities.

I saw them on this tour, so I'll die happy. In the meantime, I'll keep enjoying playing their music live and getting paid to do so, in our Stones tribute band.

Employing a guitar tech for one song would seem to be overkill, IMO.

Quotedrbryant The merchandising is typically split in some manner. This gives the artist the incentive to deliver good products. For many years the Stones have made more money from merchandise sales than concert guarantees. I imagine this has snowballed even moreso since online shopping became a staple.

I know that Rolling Stones tribute bands usually cop a hard time on the forum, but I'll drop my pants anyway and post a live video of our Australian-based tribute band ...

I pretty much agree with Wuudy's summary above. Keith's solos were minimalist, but I thought they sounded great and were in context. He had no real flubs at all, and seemed to be really enjoying himself (as did the entire band). Chuck did a heap of vocal work all night, and his vocal was heavy in the mix, "covering" Mick to some extent. That said, Mick's voice seemed

Just leaving the office now to pick up the kids from after school care, then home to leave the kids with my mum who has kindly offered to look after them tonight while my wife and I kick up our heels. We live a 10 minute drive from the arena.

Do we know if there is a support act, and/or what time the Stones hit the stage? A tip for any out of town visitors who have Amex cards - your card and photo ID will get you admission to the Amex Lounge at Allphones Arena for a pre-show beer or snack.

Quotestoneskid How are most people getting to the show? Im in Bondi Beach and its a major hike to the arena. Getting to Bondi Junction and catching the train to Sydney Olympic station (200m from Allphones Arena) is the easiest and fastest option for you.

My bet is that Sydney will go ahead (Mick wouldn't want to miss performing in Sydney for the last time) but that the Hunter Valley show will be cancelled in order to give Mick 6 days rest before Brisbane. Ensuring that the capital city concerts continue, at the expense of Hanging Rock and Hunter Valley is the most practical PR strategy in the circumstances.

Quotemnewman505 I guess I see a few people standing but not many...lame lame crowd.. One person's dancing is another person's rivetted listening and observing - people go to concerts for different reasons. I can dance to Rolling Stones music any day or night in my living room if I choose to, but I can only rarely get to intently watch them perform live. If I'm bopping up and do

QuoteStoneage put on top of each other and repeated over and over it tends to be a bit monotonous and unexiting. The Stones are like any successful band, whether they are stadium superstars or a pub band - they get paid to play songs that the majority of the audience wants to hear.
