Bill's playing was understated, but always in the pocket - which is the most important part of being a bass player in a band. I love listening to his isolated track on Gimme Shelter - it holds the song together in my opinion ...

Thanks to everybody who was there last night, especially the several international Stones fans we met from Canada, Germany, England and the USA who were in town for the postponed concert and who came along and donated to Beyond Blue. Given the venue is so tiny, collecting almost $300 via a coin jar on the night was a generous effort by the attendees. Thanks also to the sound engineer who work

Quotejamcas Hi, Just wondering if there are any travellers from interstate or overseas, that couldnt change their arrangements and are still heading to sydney ? Regards Jaime There was a large group of Argentinians at Bobby Keys' Sydney gig last night, wearing custom tour t-shirts for their tour group. When I arrived at the gig there was a group of 10-12 of them paying at the door.

Caught them last night. Bobby is still on top of his game, and the organ player is awesome. The lead guitarist had some nasty flubs at time, with a couple of nasties in CYHMK. But overall, it was a fun gig, and it was super to be able to see and hear Bobby up close in a small venue.

Quotewinter Any updates here on MT? Did he sit in with Bobby Keys or any blues cats? MT hasn't appeared at any of Bobby's gigs so far. I was at the first Sydney gig last night in the hope that he would. But there is another Sydney show tonight, so you never know

I went to Bobby Keys' gig last night in Sydney at The Basement on the off chance that Mick Taylor might make a guest appearance. No such luck, unfortunately. Bobby is still in fabulous touch though. One thing I noticed was a large group of Argentinians wearing customised tour t-shirts with only the Stones' Sydney and Melbourne dates on the back of the shirts - they've come a l

At short notice in response to Mick Jagger's personal tragedy we have arranged a fundraising night in Sydney to raise money for Beyond Blue (an Australian charity that raises awareness about depression and other mental illness) and for any Stones fans who are at a loose end on Tuesday night after the postponement of the Rolling Stones' Sydney concert. The band and sound engineer are not

Black & Blue is such an underrated album. Charlie's snare on that album is the best snare sound in recording history, IMHO.

Quotebitusa2012 AFL footy season has started here and a quick look at the fixtures tells me they simply can't have this venue until after Sept in any event. Certainly no time in April/May, they they tour Europe. How about Hindmarsh Stadium? It holds 24,000 in concert mode. Perhaps two concerts may be needed to cater for the tickets sold for the Adelaide Oval show?

QuoteMontrealsuperfan Any ideas of what I can do in Melbourne and Sydney next week, let me know. There's always plenty happening in Melbourne and Sydney. Bobby Keys' band is still doing a show on Monday night at The Basement in Sydney. The opening games of the Major League Baseball season are being played in Sydney for the first time ever, on Saturday and Sunday. Sydney is a great

A postponement of 6 months or more would put any tour in doubt - there's no guarantee from a health point of view that Keith or even Charlie will be up to another tour in 12 months time.

QuoteWuudy Why do grown ups dress up like the stones and try to act like them? Because there is a market for it, and it pays well. In Australia, for example, there is a huge following for tribute bands of various genres. It's a combination of the fact that bands like the Stones don't tour Australia very often, and when they do the tickets are $500 or more, so the tribute band s

Bottom line: it's a great pop song and always fills the dance floor whether it's a live band playing the song or a DJ. That makes it a winner from many angles.
