The Beatles had 2 Xmas residencies in London in early 60'a. One compered by Jimmy Saville, the other by Rolf Harris. Both later found d to be child sex offenders. Rolf's death in the last few days means that both are history. Unfortunatel coincidence.

Quotenorthof49 Isn't this footage from the Goddard movie 'One plus One'? Maybe it is, haven't seen 'One plus One'. Methinks it is. YouTube search is your friend. Youtube seems to allow users to post content without real credit. (not iorr user northof49!) The DVD copy of this movie I have has a menu choice that allows play of just the Stones scenes. Thus

Quotenorthof49 Don't know if this is new or not but i haven't seen it before. Excellent footage of the band and especially Nicky, Keith & Mick going through various iterations of the song. Really quite intimate - very interesting to get a peak at the sort of things that DON'T make the final version. Apologies if already posted. Isn't this footage from the Goddard mov

QuoteRockman Yeh, I too found those same agency photo's. If they had ALL been there, then there more than likely would have been a photo of more than just Jagger. Next thing we can expect to read in Tatler will be that The Stones are doing a private gig for King Charles the evening before his Coronation! Bad typo in the agency caption! It's "St James' Palace" not

QuoteRockman TATLER ---- March 2023 Where do they get this <expletive deleted>!! "Tatler Throwback" - more like "Tatler Throwup" "sixth Rolling Stone"...what a load of old <middle ages clergyman>. Everyone here knows that was STU. Brian founded the band, STU was next, then The Glimmer Twins, then Bill, then Charlie. And did all Stones

Bert Richards' descendants are a very long way from their roots! Calling West Wittering the "Hamptons of England" is plain bonkers and I suspect may be an invention of the author of the Tatler puff-piece.

QuoteDiamondDog7 Quote24FPS I wonder they've never played Jumping Jack Flash, or Satisfaction for that matter, and Under My Thumb, like their studio versions? The stage production of these songs are too fast, too rock and roll. Satisfaction is usually played like they're trying to get through it fast as possible. There's no jazz swish on UMT like there is on the record between Bria

QuoteWelshEdge1 The Stones have no interest in playing Wembley Stadium so Really! What's the origin of that belief? I'd always thought of Wembley as the "home gig", and it's always been special. (OK, that may relate to the old stadium and not the new, but...)

I joined Compuserve, alt.rock-n-roll.stones, and the Undercover mailing list. The Undercover mailing list is still going strong after 30.5 years! Quotejosepi I think No World Wide Web yet. QuoteChristiaan QuoteVoodooLounge13 I really had hoped that we'd get a deluxe blu-ray of all these old short films and their videos. That would have made a great item for the 60th!!! I’m no expert on this, but what would be the use of Blu-ray. Original it is nit filmed on high resolution. I think you can not get a better move then it was shot original. But I might be wrong. I'd suggest that you seek out the SACD 5.1 version of "Sympathy for The Devil" - it's on a special CD single that came out when the SACDs were released early this century. RIP Mary Quant. From this distance in time it probably seems fanciful to connect a 'mere' clothes designer with what turned out to be a major upheaval in social norms. Many factors were ingredients in what overturned the conservative ways of the 1950's - and Dame Mary's contribution was very significant. The V&A had (have?) a touring exhibition of her work, and last

QuoteManofwealthandtaste Thanks for posting this Cristiano. I haven't listened to it yet but I may be able to throw some light on your 'bit of oddness' Captain Corella. A friend of mine was at Stowe at that time and was one of the boys who 'signed The Beatles' for the gig. (in other words arranged for a band to come and play a school pop concert) This was arranged the pr

Quoteds1984 The Rooftop Concert still sounds as an oddity to my ears. Can you explain that? To my ears it sounds like 4 very experienced players who genuinely enjoy playing live together doing it well and producing some good songs. I've watched it several times and I reckon I see mutual enjoyment and affection in what's going on on that rooftop.

Quotelem motlow the old version shows them down and miserable so the Beatleheads are happy and like the new one better, is that correct? No. Whilst it is true that the old version shows arguments, it's by no means 90% of the time arguing. There are stretches when it's simply the Fabs in a studio trying to record songs, plus the Glory of the Rooftop Concert. The new versio
