Keith singing soulfully, like the Ry Cooder records with Terry Evans and Bobby King, with a dash of Christine McVie-era Fleetwood Mac.

If a successful vaccine materializes and the pandemic has abated, not only will these shows happen, but hopefully the postponed Rolling Stones North America tour will go forward and the Stones will be the ones celebrating their 60th Anniversary at BST 2022.

I wonder why Page doesn’t put out an archival live vault series? Supposedly, he owns the master soundboard reels to almost every Led Zeppelin performance. It would be amazing to hear high quality, professionally mixed editions instead of the often inferior recordings that circulate as bootlegs. It was a nice treat hearing the 1969 Olympia Theatre concert officially issued with the Deluxe Editi

The Horse was breathing fire on this one. One of the crunchiest records during some very crunchy times in the early 90’s during the heyday of Grunge. This record is near and dear to me and has always stayed in my rotation. Neil clearly regards it highly as he has kept many of the tunes in his set lists. His younger cohorts in Promise Of The Real are very tuned in to this material. Hopefully,

I’m pretty sure that in the many times the GD performed Dylan’s Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again, they never added or changed the lyrics. Of course, neither It’s All Over Now (Bobby Womack) or Little Red Rooster (Willie Dixon) are Rolling Stones songs, they just covered them. Same with Not Fade Away. I did get to see Mick Taylor sit in with the GD on Little Red Rooster at

Heavy Cocaine use does have a connection to heart disease. Particularly for post-menopausal women. The lack of estrogen production, compounded by already weakened heart function can prove fatal. This has been cited in the deaths of Donna Summer and Whitney Houston. Not as much of a factor for our boys, but still a factor. Just ask Len Bias’ family.

Great movie. The Hippie Rock Festival scene in Death Valley with the Jesus Freaks is memorable. That’s Delaney & Bonnie and Friends ripping it up. Future Little Feat percussionist/vocalist Sam Clayton and bassist Kenny Gradney are in the band.

R.i.P. Walter. The Heartbreakers could never catch a break. A great live band that was plagued by poor production in the studio. Opiates took their toll on them as well. Walter Lure, Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan and Billy Rath all gone to join Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy Ramone, Billy Murcia, Walter Kane, Joe Strummer and Sid Vicious in the great mosh pit in the sky.

Somebody will perform Rock The Casbah, perhaps DJ Scratchy? Bob Weir has sung Train In Vain with Furthur, but is more likely to reprise his collaboration with Jesse Malin on Death And Glory. Here is the version they performed at Weir’s TRI Studios in 2015: Joe was a good man. I got to meet him a couple of months before his passing when the Mescaleros did an instore performance at th

The Kinks albums “Something Else” and “The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society” suffered similar fates, critical acclaim and abysmal sales. Those boys couldn’t catch a break, but their catalogue has aged wonderfully and their reputation has deservedly grown.

A few great albums that fared well with the critics but had luke-warm or poor sales: The Who-Sell Out The Kinks-Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire) The Kinks-Muswell Hillbillies As far as albums that were not so favorably received at their debuts that have been rehabilitated, King Crimson’s “Lizard” comes to mind.

Checking in here. I’m currently outside of Washington D.C. in Springfield, Virginia, where I have spent the last 5 days seeing to my parents health and living conditions. They had recently moved to a retirement community in December, and the COVID-19 shutdown compounded with aging and health issues, and their choice to not live near any of their children, has made things a little tricky. A young Cameron Crowe was another major contributor. They had an impressive corps of journalists. One of my older brothers had a subscription in the late 70s, so it helped shape my Rock & Roll interests. I remember that my brother got a letter published at some point. I’ll have to ask him which issue and what the subject was. Just last week, somebody traded in a coffee table book Ha

His album covers were more interesting than the easy listening pop instrumental schlock contained in the record grooves. He may have had his 15 minutes, but talk about being relegated to the dust bins of history. 15 years of owning my record shop and maybe one or two sales of his records, if that. R.I.P. Acker Bilk, your records already have been for 50 years.

Um, Len Bias did a wee bit more than one line of cocaine. From Wikipedia: After returning home to Maryland, Bias drove back to the campus of the University of Maryland. He left campus at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, drove to an off-campus gathering, and returned to his dormitory between 2:30 and 3 a.m.[9] For the next three to four hours, Bias, longtime friend Brian Tribble, a
