A young Cameron Crowe was another major contributor. They had an impressive corps of journalists. One of my older brothers had a subscription in the late 70s, so it helped shape my Rock & Roll interests. I remember that my brother got a letter published at some point. I’ll have to ask him which issue and what the subject was. Just last week, somebody traded in a coffee table book Ha

I fully expect large scale sporting events and concerts to resume quickly once vaccinations are widespread. Still won’t get me to go see Guns ‘n Roses. Do you have a link to Fauci's quote? Sounds unlikely, as functional vaccines for viruses like this often take 6-10 years to dev

His album covers were more interesting than the easy listening pop instrumental schlock contained in the record grooves. He may have had his 15 minutes, but talk about being relegated to the dust bins of history. 15 years of owning my record shop and maybe one or two sales of his records, if that. R.I.P. Acker Bilk, your records already have been for 50 years.

What a cool experience for you and your son, Sici. I’m glad for you and also glad to hear that Mick was enjoying his birthday and making some music. You got to hear the first live LIAGT. That’s one for the ages! Thanks for sharing your story.

I forgot about Rainbow Bridge. I’ve never seen the movie, but love the soundtrack. I don’t recall ever seeing an official VHS, DVD or Blu-Ray release of the movie, or ever hearing of a screening at an art house or film festival. Anyone know what’s the hold-up?

Um, Len Bias did a wee bit more than one line of cocaine. From Wikipedia: After returning home to Maryland, Bias drove back to the campus of the University of Maryland. He left campus at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, drove to an off-campus gathering, and returned to his dormitory between 2:30 and 3 a.m.[9] For the next three to four hours, Bias, longtime friend Brian Tribble, a

Last time I saw him was at New Orleans Jazzfest 2017. The band sounded great, but poor Tom looked rough. He probably should have been taking care of his health issues instead of completing his final tour. A road warrior to the end.

Well, what Midnight Toker says implies that those in the FAR RIGHT think racism is alright. Which probably is the case. Anyway, the case of "Brown Sugar" is a tricky one. I have always interpreted the song pl

They’re streaming it for free, with donations to a worthy cause. A nice line-up of announced acts, and a tantalizing “surprise guests” tag. Keith Richards would fit that role nicely.

Christiano, in the Vanity Fair article you linked his sister tells the story. He took them himself in a photo booth in Memphis for a nickel apiece, one afternoon when they were hanging out in Memphis. Those two photos are definitely from that afternoon. She held on to the newly surfaced one all these years. If I recall, the other authenticated one is a photo of Robert sitting with Robert Lo

Thanks for sharing this. I look forward to reading the book. I know someone who claims one of his relatives has another photo of Johnson, passed down from the estate of his grandfather who helped Moses Asch start Folkways Records. This guy doesn’t bullshit, so I’m inclined to believe him. Maybe the release of this one will flush the other one out?

When I was in Sweden in the Summer of 2014, I caught the 14 On Fire show in Stockholm, then spent a month vacationing on the West Coast in the Bohuslan region north of Gothenburg. The handle on my travel bag broke during the trip, and I needed something more functional for the return to the U.S., so my father and I drove off one morning from Ragordsvik, the quiet little seaside village we we

Just play all the places that have no cases. Antarctica, American Samoa, New Zealand, probably a few other remote locations. Anyone not from the area who wants to attend has to get tested before departing, arrive at least two weeks early, quarantine for two weeks, then get tested again.

Some good suggestions here, thanks. As far as the on-line selling question, my original post answers that. No Clash vinyl at the moment, Those usually sell quickly anyway. I do have cds and dvds for them, and some of the solo projects, but I don’t wish to, nor feel that it is appropriate to use this forum for vending.

The mask issue has some tricky angles to it. Some have legitimate reasons not to wear one. The deaf and hard of hearing who rely on facial cues or lip reading are one group that can’t. Here in the U.S., certain demographics in the population already feel stigmatized due to racial prejudice. This is particularly acute for black males here. Many have expressed a concern that wearing a mask wil

Covid-19 is certainly NOT to be compared to any other virus around now. It is far far more dangerous, both to our population, the elderly, and the economies.<<<< You just made a comparative statement. They are both viruses, why not just leave it at that? I agree that we should just be talking about the COVID19 virus. It was others who drew the comparisons and tried to claim

You’re just parsing words. The Johns Hopkins article directly states that the common flu and COVID-19 “are both infectious respiratory illnesses....caused by different viruses”, i.e. different viral infections with flu-like symptoms. A rose by any other name is still a rose.
