Sorry to hear the LDs were bungled so badly. I’ve done LDs in Stockholm, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and L.A., and each time it went smoothly. If I recall right, they had a separate staff person to put the bracelets on us than the person giving us our tickets. One bonus of the bracelet was that the staff in some venues couldn’t differentiate (or didn’t care) between LD and Pit bracelets, and some fol

Oh, FFS, get off your high horse. It's a pun on one of their hits.

So the Stones own media specialists can’t even get the anniversary date correct? Amateurs.

In Crosby’s autobiography Long Time Gone, he describes how his father got blacklisted during the McCarthy witch-hunt and wasn’t able to get hired by the major studios, despite being an Academy Award winning cinematographer. To survive he worked on a bunch of Roger Corman’s B-Movies. I believe his parents divorced. I doubt under these circumstances that he was leading the entitled life. As f

Sad day for Nick, as just seven years after the tragic death of one son, today he has to go through it all again: Condolences to the Lazenbys and the Caves. R.I.P. Jethro.

Enjoyed their set at New Orleans Jazzfest on Friday. Didn’t realize that BlackBerry Smoke’s Charlie Starr was playing guitar with them, which gave some of their music a pronounced Skynyrd feel. They did not play the entire Shake Yer Money Maker album, in favor of a generous festival set stacked with highlights from throughout their career. Chris Robinson was very animated, and clearly has take

Peter Wolf is one of the few frontmen who can give Jagger a run for the money. As far as U.S. bands that embody elements of the Stones sound and style, I’d suggest The Replacements and Izzy Stradlin & The Ju Ju Hounds.

Good story on completing the 50 states quest, Northof49. I scratched North Dakota off the list when I moved out West in 1993. Discovered they had their own Badlands to rival South Dakota’s. I made it to the 50th state, Hawaii, for my 50th birthday a few years back, leaving the 49th state, Alaska, as the last on my list. If Neil plays in Alaska, I’m so there!

Glad for all of you attending the shows this Summer in Europe. The planning, anticipation, and experience of a Stones show is one of life’s great celebrations. I saw them in Stockholm on the 14 On Fire Tour, and it was a fascinating contrast to all of the times I’ve caught them here in the states. Instead of seeing them again in Europe this Summer, I have chosen a different celebration of

The current itinerary has a one week break after each Hyde Park show. Seems probable that they have some sort of special smaller venue show in the works for one of those weeks.

No Stones, so this is OT, but the initial announcement looks pretty good, with more acts to be announced. Might make a tasty appetizer for Hyde Park.

Prayers for John’s well-being. He’s a good man. I enjoyed seeing and meeting him seven years ago when he was still in great form. Hope his people have the sense to get him off the stage and into proper care pronto.

Eddie Vedder isn’t the only one left. Mark Arm and Mudhoney are still around as is Tad Doyle, who used to front Tad. Then there’s King Buzzo and The Melvins.

Agreed, Chris H., this was a total shocker when the text messages started to roll in around noon today here. Mark Lanegan's voice was what set him head and shoulders above Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Mark Arm, and Andrew Wood in a very talented group of frontmen during the heydey of Seattle's Grunge scene. It had a smoky, whiskey-soaked gravitas none of

I’d guess that since Will Lee is the MD, he will fill the bass spot in the Winos. Don Was would be another candidate. A wild card I would dig seeing would be Phil Lesh, who has several of his “Friends” on the bill (Haynes, Poe, Campbell, Krasno), and has covered a fair amount of Stones material in his time.

Another Olympics without many spectators. That’s too bad, but the Games will go on. Always enjoy the competition. Lots of Winter Sports make for good viewing.

A deep and tasty line-up, but no Stones. The last time they tried to schedule there, they created a heretofore unheard of extra Wednesday between the weekends of Jazzfest. They could always do something similar. Use it as a rehearsal for their Summertime aspirations.

You would hope he could be more of a class act. He ripped off Rita Coolidge for credit for composing the coda to Layla. She is out a bunch of money from that.

Quotenoughties Quotecaschimann And as we are all older now we perform, act, behave different as well. One of the changes is that many people are not in that euphoric, great, relaxed mood like they were as teens, twens, thirty or even forty-somehings. Getting older with all the consequences makes you angry from time to time. You see the world clearer and not through rainbow glasses. Interes
