There were seats on the field in Sheffield in 2006. I loved it. We all stood throughout the Stones' performance, but I could sit though Paulo Nutini and the wait between bands, and most importantly, I could go for a piss and get back to my place without any difficulty Given the average age of those attending, I'm surprised it hasn't become the norm

Just seen the video from East Rutherford last night. Midnight Rambler was bloody marvellous - the guitars were fantastic and the drumming was as good as anybody but Charlie Wilts could possibly be. I didn’t think the band still capable. I certainly will get tickets if they tour the UK again. But I will give it a miss if it’s the first few gigs after a layoff )

The original vocals on bootlegged outtakes are frequently Jagger doing what he calls his 'vowel movements', basically la-la-la-ing and mumbling any non-sense that fits. I would much rather hear actual lyrics being sung properly even if they've been recorded recently.

I see BMHO more in the tradition of 'Rip This Joint' i.e. The band captured a sense of spontaneity in the moment. She's So Cold sounds much more restrained, even measured to my ears, while BMHO is full on, balls-to-the-wall.

I just looked at the vinyl track list. Sides B,C and D each seem to feature one handbrake turn after another. I can't imagine anyone putting on these sides of music at home, sitting back and enjoying the flow. The mood lurches all over the place. Absolutely agree. Great songs. Great energy. I’m fascinated to see where the next album takes them. My only caveat is, I’d prefer it not to be so ‘brickwalled’ - but that’s a minor complaint, I was 16 when Some Girls came out. If you had told me then that when the numbers in my age were the other way round the band would make an album this good, I would’ve fainted with shock!
