Disliked it the first time I heard it in '78 (at age 25) and continue to dislike it today. When I hear the first few notes of it at a concert, it's my cue to go get a cocktail or hit the restroom.

Isn't it a requirement that it be in the B2B or BB format? Between the Buttons, Beggars Banquet, Bridges to Babylon, Black & Blue, a Bigger Bang, etc.??? Blonde on Blonde has already been taken, so how about "Back to Basics"?

1989 in oakland ... one of my friends casually mentioned that he was carrying a gun in his shoe as we were about to be frisked before entering the stadium (what a f**k'n moron!)

As I recall, it was a hot day and people near the stage kept tossing various clothing items on to the stage. I think that Jagger was surprised when a shoe landed nearby & he just semi-jokingly said, "give me your shoes." And, as they say, the rest is history

I recall that my girlfriend, friend and I were greeted at the "shoe show" by the Anaheim Police Department in full riot gear (in the parking lot). After a cop figured out that my friend had a can of beer in his pant leg, the cop pulled the cigarette pack out of my friend's shirt pocket, opened it up and literally began to drool and spit (inside of his riot helmet) as he pulled s

The scene at Best Buy in West Los Angeles yesterday was quite comical. Lively conversation among Stones fans in the recently shrunken CD section of the store. I almost felt as though I was 20 again. Then again, I was only 19 when Exile first came out (which I of course bought on its release date in Isla Vista, California). When I went to purchase the CD yesterday, everyone in the entire l

I seem to recall some discussion here as to whether or not Darryl Jones is truly a member of the Rolling Stones or simply a guy they hired by the hour. After viewing the Stones' official Holiday Card for 2006, there can be little doubt. Check it out:

I think we ended up paying 40 pence per ticket ... it doesn't seem possible ... plus, the seats turned out not to be obstructed and were just to the side of the stage ... 1973 ... one of the top five shows i've seen ... probably no. 1 or 2 ...

With all due respect Bjornulf, you must be kidding ... What is it that you like about seeing little dots about a half a mile away and watching a giant video screen? The sound in these stadiums is usually atrocious or worse ... There is simply no way of fixing or adjusting the acoustics (or lack thereof) in an open-aired stadium ... The whole point of a live show is to experience the immedi

Okay ... I'm not trying to start a fight here or belittle anyone's concert experience, but, it seems to me that it is nearly impossible for a stadium show to provide any of the intimacy (let alone good sound quality) that a smaller venue can give. (yes, I've been to many stadium shows: '78 Anaheim (2), '81 L.A. Coliseum (2), '89 L.A. Coliseum (2) & Oakland Coli

What about Tom Petty? First of all, he and Keith are the two coolest personalities in rock 'n roll today ... not much to argue about there. If anything, he's run into the same problem that the Stones have ... namely, it's hard to be relevant after you get into your forties (and well beyond) ... sorry, but that's just the truth ... In the sixties, the Beatles, Stones,

I was really shocked the last time I watched the Rock 'N Roll Circus DVD and saw (and heard) how great the Stones were ... This was with Brian Jones on guitar! In my opinion, the Stones songs at that show are in every way as good or better than anything the Stones have done with Ronnie Wood (and don't forget, the Circus show was supposedly recorded after the Stones had been awak

according to wikipedia in an article about the legality of sampling (music): Cases have still emerged since then involving uncleared samples. In the late 1990s, The Verve was forced to pay 100% of their royalties from their hit "Bitter Sweet Symphony" for the use of an unlicensed sample from an orchestral cover version of The Rolling Stones' hit "The Last Time". The Ro

Between the Buttons; Beggars Banquet; Black and Blue; Bridges to Babylon; a Bigger Bang, etc., etc. (I hear that Goat's Head Soup was almost called Boarshead Broth) ... even in Out of Time, Mick seems to sing "... you're out of touch my BB ..." What does it all mean?

There were a few times during the show in Vegas when I couldn't match what I was hearing with what either Keith or Ronnie seemed to be doing ... I have a feeling that if anybody is "stepping up" that it's Blondie Chaplin ... half the time he seems to be hidden behind Lisa Fisher, so it's nearly impossible to see what he's really doing back there ...

“The Stones were really on tonight at ____________ .” “Mick/Keith/Charlie/Ronnie was on a mission.” “The boys played as though they had something to prove last night.” I always find these sorts of fan comments to be amusing. When I think back over the forty some shows I’ve seen over the last 35 years (every L.A. show minus the Wiltern, London, New York, Chicago, Denver, Oakland,

Well, my road trip (from Los Angeles to Las Vegas) for the all-geezer rock 'n roll weekend is getting close ... Friday night with the Who and Saturday night at the MGM Grand for the Stones ... the whole concept is pretty funny ... I can just picture what my response would have been in junior high school (circa 1966) if someone had told me that I'd be seeing the Who and the Stones on

Thirty four years ago tomorrow - the first time I saw the Stones was at the Hollywood Palladium ... after waiting for them to hit the stage for what seemed like an eternity, the jolt of electricity that went through the crowd when they went into the opening chords of Brown Sugar was beyond description ... that energy lasted for the entire show - that was the night I got hooked

Well, first to paraphrase an often heard quote, "if you remember the ‘78 tour, you weren't there." Jesus ... it was 28 years ago. I attended both of the Anaheim shows that year ... Two things stick in my mind: First, as we neared the stadium, we saw dozens and dozens of members of the Anaheim Police Department decked out in full riot gear including nazi-like helmets ... My bud

The Stones (official website) recently offered a tee-shirt commemorating the ten shows the band has played over the years at the Forum (in Los Angeles) … Since I’d been to many of those shows, I decided to buy one … when I received the shirt, I was surprised to find that much of the info on the shirt was wrong (e.g. they played two shows on 11/8/69, they didn’t play a show on 11/20/69, they pla

Just returned to Southern California from my second trip to New York City in ’06 - which by sheer accident (not) just happened to coincide with two Stones shows. I can’t say that I was surprised by the somewhat predictable setlist at Radio City the other night … and judging by the red-hot response from virtually all of the fans in attendance – I would have to say that you cannot really secon
