The Stones (official website) recently offered a tee-shirt commemorating the ten shows the band has played over the years at the Forum (in Los Angeles) … Since I’d been to many of those shows, I decided to buy one … when I received the shirt, I was surprised to find that much of the info on the shirt was wrong (e.g. they played two shows on 11/8/69, they didn’t play a show on 11/20/69, they played two shows on 6/11/72 (thanks Gazza)) … so, it turns out that the Stones have actually played eleven shows at the Forum … I think that that calls for a new shirt!

By the way, in 2005, the L.A. Dodgers gave away thousands of blankets commemorating their World Championship years … unfortunately, two or three of the years listed were wrong … the Dodgers ended up mailing corrected blankets to everyone who requested one (and this was all free of charge) …

I’m sure that my corrected Stones shirt will arrive in the mail any day now

(the new issue of Rolling Stone has an interesting article about the top earners in 2005 in the music biz – first – U2 with $154 million, the Stones second at $92.5 million – the article says that bands can earn up to $150,000 per show in tee-shirt sales)

a hundred and fifty grand for one night at the tee shirt and souvenir stand????

say they pay their session people two g a week plus per diem...
maybe higher than that...may be lower...not sure...

pretty sure that 150k from ONE Night...
would cover blondie, lisa, bernard, bobby k and all the other horns...
and chuck... for over a month...

that's tee shirt sales for ONE night!!!????

not counting ticket prices (hugely inflated)...
and fans who are working class, who have bought every album...
...true blue fans...
can only dream of gettin' a free grand
to hire a baby sitter and take the wife to a show...

me, i can do it now and then; (except for the 'wife' part
as my personality is apparently not that attractive...)
i know...i know...hard for you guys to believe that...

but i can grab my girl; treat her to a great show and experience
and not sink my whole life...thank god...
but many cannot.

that profit margin is impressive and makes the papers and garners great
respect and is history making...it is also selfish and obscene...

yeah i know they have trux and crews and a zillion other expenses...
but...something's a bit off kilter here...

still PLENTY of room for an extremely handsome ransom for the the original 3 and our wonderful ronnie...

...and pay the crew fairly...
then there's transportation and food costs...
i know these things aren't cheap...hotels, fuel...per diems all around etc...
limos, bodyguards, trainers, massueses, whores, dealers, cooks and chiropracters...and dare i say it...
magic flowers and backstage bars...

still...
this is an obscene amount of profit if it excludes so many fans willing to pay MORE than fair amounts for tickets...
it also Inflates all the other acts prices, where they can pull it off...
and is bad for the public, thinketh i....
maybe i'm wrong...not an accountant...
but it seems a little selfish...
they are exponential gazillionaires anyway...

i'm sure they don't split up the marketing of the baby jumpers with the
tongue...and all the other sheeeit in the catalog.....

wonder where the shirts are manufactured...anyone know?
slave labor kinda deal in china, or elsewhere or what?
really would like to know...

$150k/night...I believe it. The lines at those booths are insane. And let's say there's 20,000 people there, that only an average of $7.5/person. Considering many people spend >$100 buying a few shirts, it's reasonable to assume they make that. Anyway, how much do you think Chuck gets per month? Bobby? Lisa? Bernard?

Nor do ANY of the Stones get money for concessions...ALL goes to Cohl. Its in the contract.

Last info I had on Bobby Keys is old...and never cinfirmed by a reading of the contract, but he was getting $5000.00 per show. LOL not a lot by Glimmertwin standards, but hell over a half million per tours of over 100 shows for a few sax solos ain't bad!

i haven't seen any contracts, nor am i privvy to any personal info on the paychecks...but i think it unlikely that any of the sidemen get paid per show...

i think usually it's a weekly check...many twice monthly...dunno 4 sho..
plus per diem...or any bonus' 4 any reason...
remember they are on the road and ALL of the traveling etc...
is also part of their time on the job...
doubt the 'per show' thing...

seriously doubt mick's gonna pay anyone, at your estimate...
...say 4 shows a week...20 grand a week; 80 grand a month...
multiply by that over a year on tour...maybe longer...

for ONE player?...amidst all the crew salaries...
plus bernard, blonde, lisa, all the other horn players, darryl and chuck...

50 Cent shirts? This guy never wears cloths above the belt. They do sell fake 50 Cent tattoo stickers for $40.00 each. The ones with 50 Cent and Mickey Mouse are very popular!
