Just joined IORR and very impressed I have been a Stones fan for 25 years and love their music Just one thing though, I can't seem to find KEY TO THE HIGHWAY from the 1964 Chess Sessions. (Not the later Keith track) PS is it true that Howlin' Wolf played along on this track? Much appreciated if anybody could post it
According to Martin Elliot's book, the Stones recorded Key To The Highway in November 64 at the Chess Studios (same sessions as Goodbye Girl, What A Shame, Time Is On My Side...etc). He also mentions the rumour about Howlin' Wolf playing along. Apparently they also recorded a version of Mercy, Mercy at the same session and both these songs are supposedly available on bootleg - anyone have them?
Also like to add my thanks to Vancouver for his sterling work recently!
Yeah, but that version of Satisfaction is the regular version, to my Knowledge, the chess version hasnt surfaced (shame to because its apparently very different, acoustic i think with a harmonica). Also if I remember right, Little Red Rooster was actually recorded in England not at Chess. Further I believe that the only tracks on that disc that are certainly from chess are those recorded in June 1964, and a couple of the 1965 tracks (Under assistand west coast promo man, etc).
