The Maidenlane Recordings:
a Mick Taylor tribute
Long-time Mick Taylor fan Maidenlane taped a number of Mick’s gigs on the East Coast (mainly in New York City) between November 1986 - May 1993 to preserve his own memories. Around the same time Mick Taylor lived in NYC and thus did a lot of concerts there, with his own bands or as a guest artist with other great musicians.
In our first series we first published the concerts that had never been circulated in any form. By listening to the others we discovered that many of his alternative recordings were interesting too. In the second series we publish the “Maidenlane Tapes Alts” which will feature recordings that are either in better sound quality, more complete or sound differently from previous releases.
In this last series we present the result of mixes and merges which will be similar to the Frankenstein productions (of my FP-series): by “mixing” I mean that I simultaneously record the 2 sources and by “merging” I mean that I record each source on a different channel (one for the left channel and the other for the right).
Of course, we are very grateful to Maidenlane and I also would like to thank nzb for his help (his advice, judgements and expertise have been invaluable to me).

The Maidenlane FRANKENSTEIN’S VERSIONS
Volume 11
19. May 1989
BOSTON
The Paradise
(3 complementary sources)

19th May 1989: Boston, Massachusetts, The Paradise
Line-up: MT (gtr/voc)/Max Middleton (keyb)/Shane Fontayne (gtr)/Wilbur Bascomb (bass)/Eric Parker (dr)

CD1: (mixes from the 2 previous sources)
01 - Intro & tuning (solely source #1 until last 16 seconds which are a mix)
02 - I Wonder Why
03 - Laundromat Blues
04 - Leather Jacket
05 - Little Red Rooster
06 - Red House (first portion is source #2, last portion is solely source #1)
07 - Goin' South

CD2: (mixes from Mdl source & source #1)
01 - band introduction #1
02 - You Gotta Move
03 - Stranger In This Town & band introduction #2
04 - Boogie Man (1st encore)
05 - Jumpin’ Jack Flash (2nd encore)
06 - outro

For this show two recordings were already circulating. One, coming from nzb (= source #1) has a typical saturated sound but has the complete intro & tuning and is lossless. My version (= source #2) has the better sound but is lossy, is missing a part from the intro and has some speed problems on its 2nd CD-r.
The Maidenlane recording is interesting because for the first time it contains the 2nd encore which was missing in the other recordings and the sound is good.
I decided to create two versions:
- The first one was presented as the “Maidenlane ALTS Vol 11’
- This one combines all sources to get the best sound and the most complete recording.

For The Maidenlane Recording reworkings see the ‘Maidenlane ALTS Vol 11’.
The source #1 is decelerated by -1%.
On CD1, because there were some gaps between the tracks in source #2: the banter is often only coming from #1.
At the end of the intro the announcement is repeated two times, this is not a mistake.
In ‘Red House’ I used a 32 second patch to complete the version #1.
I did lots of tests to find the best combination: the better ones are the mixes between the 2 previous versions but because of speed problems on the source #2, the second part of the show is a mix between the 1st source and the Maidenlane recording.

As usual I used a lot the infos taken from The Mick Taylor Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: [www.nzentgraf.de]
