There's something wrong somewhere and it's not with any of our routers.

You said earlier:

While my Macbook Pro took awhile to connect to the site, my Dell Inspiron simply cuts off and tells me it can't do it

So I guess that your router is ok for the Mac to be able to connect.

The index page has always taken quite a while to load, and it seems that it is taking some people even longer now, which may be leading to time-outs.

You could try [ipv6-test.com] to see if your browser is ok.
It should either default to IPv6 or have Fallback.

Having said that I have IE11, Firefox, Waterfox & Chrome on Windows 7, plus an android browser on my tablet and they all work fine.

It is a network problem that we are not able to do anything about, and unfortunately a lot of people, even with IPv6 access, just don't seem to be able to access the site now.

My Mac died and went to Hell. I'm on a Dell labtop with Windows 10 Chrome presently.

Windows 10 Chrome should be ok by default I would have thought ... but ... some thoughts.

[*] check your network adaptor settings:
click your network connection icon -> open network and sharing -> right-click your adaptor -> properties.
is Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) checked?
    select it and click properties.
is it set to 'obtain an IPv6 address automatically' and 'obtain DNS server address automatically'?

[*] try connecting with your firewall turned off. especially if you use a VPN such as PIA or anything else that might have blocked IPv6 access.

[*] try the usual suspects (doesn't usually help):
    [support.microsoft.com]

    [support.microsoft.com]

[*] chrome still doesn't allow you to change time-out settings, try Firefox (or better still, in my opinion, Waterfox) which does.
type 'about:config' into the address bar -> ENTER.
change 'network.http.response.timeout' to a higher value. it defaults to 300 seconds, ie, 5 minutes.

Jimmy, I actually did all that. I have a techy friend and I'm gonna ask him. Microsoft online chat is bots, did you know that?

& ELL has the clearest version of Coventry 71 I've ever heard, so I'm missing that one big time! confused smiley

You can't beat hands-on for problems like that, it is so much easier to be able to try things and see exactly what is happening.

There are 4 Coventry '71s on EL it seems:

The Rolling Stones 1971 03 06 Coventry, England (1st show) {JimmyShelter Remaster}
1971 03 06 Coventry Theatre, Coventry, England 2nd show Tapesource (Remastered By PR)
Coventry Theatre, Coventry, England, March 6, 1971 (1st show) (Dime)
Coventry Theatre, Coventry, England, March 6, 1971 (1st show)

which one was it? I should have them all somewhere.

Jimmy Shelter remaster. I've had four hard drives fail me in less than 12 months.

correct answer smoking smiley

4 drives in 12 months? Ouch!!
I always use WD and don't leave them running all the time. I think anti-surge protection on the mains supply helps as well.

I think this is the one, it looks like I made a few versions but this is the latest, so was probably the one I shared. The one on EL is dead.

Thanks for the Coventry file. I actually went to Coventry in 2006. The Stones concert was over, though.

hmm, bit lost for ideas really.
difficult/impossible to know what is going on in a network that you have no access to.
seems that we are stuck with things the way they are though.

I updated my Verizon DSL router settings last year, but no luck. Because of this thread, I finally made connection over the last two days. But today, no connection. Is the site down?

Try configuring it for ivp6, or whatever it is. I called Centurylink but I need to talk to Microsoft to do it. The problem is that Microsoft chat is bots. And don't even get me started on talking to the help desk live.

Sorry, didn't mean to shouteye popping smiley

The site came up for me just a few minutes later.

Can you tell me how to configure uTorrent to DL? I'm hooked to a Dylan torrent, but it won't connect to seeds/peers.

I'm not able to use check boxes to allow: Peer Exchange, Local Peer Discovery, and Enable DHT.

Re: Electric Ladeyland tracker??
Posted by: JimmyShelter ()
Date: April 15, 2018 14:49

smiling smiley bloody caps lock.

No, Peer Exchange, Local Peer Discovery, and Enable DHT won't work because the tracker is private.

It shouldn't need any configuring though. I use uTorrent 2.2.1, which is quite old now, and it has always worked perfectly with EL and IPv6.
I doesn't seem to take me any longer to connect either but several people have reported that they have to wait quite a while before it will connect initially.

One of the problems since the IPv6 thing is that NAT checking was taking far too long so I had to disable it, this means that not only can we not see who has NAT/Firewall problems, but the tracker will now send you details of peers that cannot be reached, whereas before it wouldn't.

Anyway, I see that you are up and running now.

Welcome back thumbs up
