I doubt that All About You/Train Song was played during the 82 sessions ;-)

Interesting snippets, the return of bkeys! ;-)

Nice sound quality, 2/3/4/5/6/7/8 were on the bkeys snippets from 12/2004 [www.iorr.org]

They've never appeared on any other "release" AFAIK.

The Virchov Tape

I never knew where the name came from, and forget where I got it exactly, but I think it was directly or indirectly from Felix Aeppli. Check out 0.414A in The Ultimate Guide.


MID-OCTOBER, 1982
PRE-PRODUCTION SESSION, PATHE-MARCONI, EMI STUDIOS, PARIS

1 Wanna Hold You
2 She Was Hot ("country version" under discussion)
3-4 Can’t Find Love (released with Foxes in Boxes)
5-8 What I Am Saying Is True (title is not certain, excerpts from the same take)


I am almost 100% sure that all of the above were widely circulating a few years back within the 50 Years of Dirty Work torrent series. I'm surprised it took this long for any of the material to show up on a silver boot.

I'm not aware of any boot that has 1-2 or 5-8 until now. However, I have not compared them to The Fabulous Cuts. It does not appear that this new boot has all of these tracks. Therefore, the name The Complete Undercover Sessions is already obsolete.

Sorry it's not the treasure trove Chris was hoping for! We all wish...

My notes say that track 2 on DAC-109 is actually Cooking Up.

The tracks with ghost vocals confuse even DAC.

Yes we'd discussed the title confusion of the 3 UC "rockers" at length in the "rarest outtakes" thread ;-)

@blakeeik - very interesting thanks and I for one had never heard of this tape or of this torrent. Thanks a bunch for uploading it too ! FF is not letting me download it though, an "overload" problem apparently unless you're a premium member. Any chance you could upload it to WT or Mega? Thanks!

As for the Virchov Tape, what a refreshing listen ! It's hard to believe the UC sessions were off to such a friendly start between Mick and Keith (pretty moving to hear them sing their heads off together!) only to finish in agony during the mixing sessions when they couldn't agree on anything! It was so bad that Kimsey decided to stop working with the Stones (after all he'd gone through over the past 10+ years) and Mick had to promise him in 1989 that they would work "fast" on SW to get him back on board ;-)

I'm fortunate enough to have the FileFactory premium account.
I also have 1000MBs or 1 Gigabit download speeds from my ISP.
I can download from FF and get it to WeTransfer pretty quickly.

Has anybody explored using a Google Drive?
If we all have 15GB or so per email account, we could permanently host some files for the new people to the group.
Just a thought?

The same can be said of the DW sessions except replace "mixing" with "recording"...
The tapes of the "one-to-one" meeting between the Glimmer Twins early 85 in Paris show the duo in full "honeymoon" mode. You can hear it on the "Glimmer Twins Private Tapes" boot.

Sound quality is poor but the music runs at the right speed (which was not the case for the 1st edition of the tape on "Shaved Discs").
