Memphis 28 June 1978
working on the 1978 tour boots trying to get a complete show with a mix of my best sources.

Exist lots of boots called or mentioning Memphis in 1978 but usually they containt only two sdb tracks!
I decided to make my own version, another Frankenstein monster: the n°16
About this show I got the complete audience from Rockin’ Rott called « Make Some Girls In Memphis » and the version from the Vault called « Live In Memphis’78 ».
The Dandelion « Handsome girls » (DL 032/033) containt tracks from Memphis in the best quality (to my ears) and I use also the « Out On Bail » from Mighty Diamonds (MD 2003) to added « Brown Sugar » & « Jumping Jack Flash ».
« Live In Memphis ‘78 » had a better sound as « Make Some Girls.. » but a little hissy and got some defaults (gaps, channel variations…) I use it for the basis of my compilation, I reduce a little the hiss and I amplified the sound with +2,5db . I use only the Rockin’ Rott to complete some gaps.
Now some details about my modifications (when no precision they’re from the audience source).
01 – As introduction I added the report from the feminist manifestation before the Memphis Show (it’s coming from « Make Some Girls… »).
02 – « Let It Rock » too much sound variations in the beginning I use a patch of 17s from « Make.. »
03 – « Honky Tonk Women »
04 – «All Down The Line »
05 – « Star Star » at 3’56 remains almost one channel, for 6s, I duplicate it and restore a 2nd channel
06 – « When The Whip Comes Down » I was very deceive to found that the « Handsome Girls » version was from Detroit not Memphis, so I used the audience for this one too.
07 - « Miss You » a gap and a brutal transition with « Lies »
08 – « Lies »
09 – « Beast Of Burden »: intro & end coming from « Live… », the intro got dozen of little gaps and is now re-worked!
10 – « Just My Imagination »
CD2:
01 – « Respectable » another deception, is not coming from Memphis, the comparison with the audience tapes is without doubt, so I use the audience tape.
02 – « Far Away Eyes »
03 – « Love In Vain » idem the Handsome Girls is not from Memphis!!! I use the « Live.. » but because of a gap I patch it with « Make… »
04 – « Shattered » from « Handsome Girls »
05 – « Hound Dog » from « Handsome Girls »
06 - « Tumbling Dice » a gap at the end patched with « Make… »
07 – « Sweet Little Sixteen »
08 – « Brown Sugar » from Out On Bail
09 – « Jumping Jack Flash » from Out On Bail and last seconds from « Make.. »
Conclusion: only 4 tracks in sdb, two from « Handsome Girls » and two from « Out On Bail »
And last I create an artwork.
