1963/1964 Studio Outtakes & Rarities Vol.1 ®Remastered by teague raw

You may have noticed, the Stones bootlegs abound. You probably dream of the ultimate antholgy that would bring together the best versions ...
It is the task I set myself. Okay there are excellent compilations ... But if you listen carefully your records, you will notice they do not contain all the best sound sources. Then look everywhere, on all bootlegs. That's what I did.
I listened to about 60 or 70 bootlegs, compared 10 or 15 times the same song. It was very long. But the result is really worth.
And since I do not like doing things by halves, I am also bothered to remaster these marvels, to give them maximum attendance.
I know purists hate the sound compression, noise reject filters ...
Me, my trick is to immerse myself in music, without distance, my ears fill with tidal edge, as if the songs were recorded yesterday, as if Mick and Keith playing at home.
Levels are pushed to the bottom, just before the distortion. With all the admiration I have for this music, I hope with all sincerity not to betray your delicate ears, I only wish they bring some freshness, and the remastering is perfect for this.
This is the first volume, covering 1963 and 1964, I wrapped myself in this jacket, with any luck, you will download without too many problems (but with patience anyway).
Since my browser is not working with Hotfile, I had to continue to upload on Bayfiles, but I encourage everyone to increase its linkages loading.
Treat yourself well, let me share my mistakes (I hope there's not so much errors), and especially tell me if it makes you feel good.

Hi,
Thanks for your great effort. I always hoped to have time to do a project like this, but I failed.

Downloading went wrong: I only got 8823 B. What can I do?

Cheers,
Alex.

Is this a FLAC24 file set? 2CD's at 1.63GB suggests that is the case.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Yes, it's flac 24 bits.
Somebody ask for 16 bits, but it's not the better.
I'm working in aiff 32 bits before convert to flac 24.

Time to download : about 1 h37 (at this time I download it to see if all is right).

I don't know what is the problem.
I use Safari and all looks good for the moment.

teagueraw,

All works fine on my side. I got it in less than an hour. The artwork is beautiful. I really appreciate all the work you put into this. I surely own a great majority of the bootlegs sources you used here (I can't speak for the unknown sources lineage of course). But it's really nice to get a compilation of studio outtakes from the best available sources as a fan project.
I noticed that you've titled this "Vol. 1" then I hope you're working on some more Vols into the same vein for the future.
Could you tell us more about this project? How many Vol can we expect? Which period/years of studio outtakes will be covered into this project?
Tell us if you need some sources you're missing to go ahead.
From your post I saw that you use "Google translation french to english".
I'm myself an old french Stones collector since more than 40 years with a real decent Stones bootography winking smiley
If you need anything that could help you into your project don't hesitate to use my email shown into my profile.
Thanks once gain for all the hard work and for your more than welcome forthcoming input
All the best
HB

Really very interesting and a great job. I'm also curious about the next volumes. Is there any live music included?

Yes, some more volumes are ready.
Vol 2 1965/1966 with 45 titles.
Vol 4 1968 with 3 disc sooner(53 titles)
Vol 3 : Their Satanic Outtakes : very long work (all sources are not cut at the same point)

I have remastered the studio albums from the first to Let It Bleed (sounds better than the more recent official remastered work) with singles and some mono versions, in a Deluxe style version (original artwork is adapted to my project), but… IORR rules doesn't want official material; and I can't post them.
Just hear "All Sold Out ®" (in mp3 ® version).

And the BBC Sessions, the Tv Sessions are already posted on IORR.
All in a brand new artwork, remastered in the best way I can.

I want to remastered the 3 Paris Olympia too, artwork is ready.

But… it takes a long time to do (two or three months for a volume)

I hope you're patient, and that my ®Remastered sound work is good for you.

I only use flac for you and other members, usualy, on Apple Macintosh, I leasen music in Aiff/ or mp3 320kbps.

I'll make flac with Audacity, and you can make a lot of formats
From flac to other format, you can try 'Switch' (but not burn) I don't know if it's work on Windows.

Thanks for your work!
I had lots of problems to extract CD 1 Track 16. The filename was too long. I had to change the name into a much smaller file. Also most of the files can' t be burned with Nero without making the track names shorter (only 64 symbols).
I only wanna know why you present these files in 24 bit flacs and not the usual 16 bit?

@ Kike: I have used foobar2000 to convert the files directly into wave not in flac 16 bit. Because I burn them directly from wave th CDR. To open the rar-package winrar failed to do the work. I had to use 7zip.

Just convert them to wave. Then you have the possibility to convert them in any format you want (also flac 16 bit - if Flac frontend is installed). Or you should use dbpoweramp. This is a great small prog.

I have opened the folder and made a right-click on them. Choose 'rename'. I have only left the normal track names not the extras i.e. where they were recorded etc.

I'm sorry teagueraw but I have to say this. I would love to download your posts but I can't.

I have been on this board fo 6 years & I have seen many file servers used here, ranging from very good to not so good. Bayfile, in my opinion, is the worse I have experienced. I have tried 6 times to download both your posts with absolutely no luck at all. Waiting 5 minutes before you can even start a download is ridiculous, all other sites are between 30-60 seconds. I have gone through the whole process only to have a screen telling me that the file isn't there. I have been successful (once) in starting to download a file only to have it time out after 14Mb.

Reading through both posts you can see that a lot of others are having the same problems.

I know the effort needed to do what you are doing, I have done it myself many times starting with cooleditpro & then moving on to Audacity so it must be frustrating for you to know that there are many others who would appreciate your work but can't.

A couple of suggestions. The first is to use a more reliable & established file server, Filepost, Filefaactory, Mediafire & Rapidshare come to mind. You might start a thread asking other opinions on what they recommend. The other is to split the post into smaller more maneagable pieces, for instance, one CD at a time. I know that this puts an extra burden on you but this is an established method used by many of the posters here.

I hope we can sort out the sharing system so we can all enjoy your efforts, this is exactly what we need in this area of the forum while the Stones are deciding when/if they're going to tour

Cheers, Rick

Ok, I don't use Nero, so I doesn't no that the names are too long.
ITunes not making problems with aiff 32 bits (convertion is automatic)
For the others volumes, I take care.
thanks

Hi Rolling On,
I used 7ZIP and extracted all well but no matter how many times I try to rename track 16 from CD1 it won't allow me. If I try to rename the same file after extraction on right clicking it does not give me the choice to rename it.

Can you upload this song only? Somehow I have managed to screw up the zip folder and would be time consuming to have to re-download the whole thing again when just having issues with one song.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Don! I will upload the track 16 in a few minutes for you and others. My way has been that I opened the rar-file and I have changed the name in the rar-folder into a shorter one. It was a bit tricky, took me some time to discover this, but it works.

Download link for CD 1 Track 16 'Medley'
I have chosen a wave-file because everyone is able to convert this easily in whatever format he likes

Thanks Rolling On, I usually am able to rename files in a zip when the filename is to long or sometimes tracks won't play if too long too even if extracted. However it didn't work this time.

Thanks again for the upload much appreciated.

Thanks for another nice set teague raw.

Could I make a couple of suggestions which might help with the problems that people using Windows keep having?

1. length of filenames - it is the total length, including folder names, that matters here. Shortning the disc folder names to something like 'CD1' or 'disc 1' might help.

2. some of the 'special characters', such as © and ® don't seem to translate properly between Mac & PC and cause some of the extraction problems. I am thinking mainly of the 1 or 2 characters (i can't be sure which) that you use just before the '.flac' in your filenames.

These are not complaints, your work is worth the hassle, just trying to be helpful cool smiley

Thanks for sharin' your work, and very nice artwork by the waythumbs up.

Just one comment, about the track selections.
With the "Connection" stuff, I mean Andrew Oldham and related,
there's always a track which is missin'.
It's "Funky and Fleopatra" written by Oldham and with Charlie Watts on drums.
No big deal, it's just a completist thing and it's also a very good track.

For those who want it, I've uploaded it here
