Nice to hear some reviews, I have this DAC but haven't had a chance to compare it with OBR yet, due to summer vacation. So it was worth the investment....good news.

Thanks a lot! I got rid of my "Place Pigalle" Cds a long time ago so this is a welcome reminder.

Maybe the OBR guy "gave DAC his precious acetates...? Or DAC worked from an alltogether different source? (CW's drum sound on "WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT" is impressive)

And "AFTER HOURS" with Stu and Sugar Blue is imho a true masterpiece!

Just compared to the OBR CD : no noises anymore, less hiss, speed corrected, some clever equalizing: DAC did a great job there.
Seems they had access to another tape.
A must have.

Gonna have to order it!

Since you mention this Vancouver... VGP/DAC id's WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT as Paris '77/78 while Mr Zentgraf implies this song was born during the Aug. 78 RCA sessions...

Any ideas?

I've been wondering about this as well.

The 1978 RCA studio version seems less "finished" than the Paris Results version - at first listen. But that doesn't really mean much, as the RCA 1978 sessions is obviously a "studio rehearsal".....even "Brown Sugar" would sound "unfinished" if they recorded it in August 1978 - I would reckon
