No offense to the person who started this thread, but DAC seem to have completely lost the plot recently. I mean, what the Hell are they releasing stuff like this for AGAIN? (!). Let's not forget that they even released Leeds '71 again fairly recently.
It wouldn't be quite so bad, if they made things SOUND better. But- no- they tend to grab torrents, put them through their patented 'mud-machine' & then sell the awful results. Their recent 'Some Satanic Tour vol.2' managed once again to downgrade a recording that VGP put out approx: 15 years ago (!). OK- VGP weren't perfect, but DAC are becoming a joke imo.

Agreed, MrsHop, especially when there are shows out there that haven't seen a silver release either ever (Atlanta '75, Philly '75, Dallas '69-yes, I know, very lo-fi) or in a long time and then only as part of a 6-disc set (Cleveland '75). Okay, these are shows I personally would like to see released but, as you said, unless they're bringing something new to the table, why bother ?

The people who manufacture DAC / Misteclaudel / Piccadilly Circus / Wendy (all the same label) do not like non-Japanese customers. Their titles are only for the Japaense market, so you're opinion does not count. That is the reality, so all the whining and complaining in this forum about DAC means absolutely nothing to them racists.

But with that said, the cricitisms leveled at the label are for the most part accurate.

Interesting observation. So, the Japanese customers don't have the same thoughts on this as us ? Or, there are always newcomers to the hobby, so they'll be happy to pick up re-releases of common shows, I guess ?

By the way, love your website, I post comments on there as jerrythebarman.

Yes, Hi Jerry. I'm glad you like my site. I sometimes think Rolling Stone collectors hate the site and hate my reviews in particular.

My comments don't apply to all Japanese labels of course, and some such as Tamborine Man Records (for Bob Dylan releases) and Tarantura are very happy to deal with non-Japanese.

But Wanderlust (who produce DAC, Misterclaudel, Piccadilly Circus, Wendy, among others) are among the most xenophobic. They used to deal with foreigners but have become increasingly hostile to non-Japanese collectors.

Regarding the Japanese market, yes they all sell. The Rolling Stones are one of the hotter artists right now and anything that is produced will sell very nicely. This includes DAC, SODD, and even non-Japanese labels like Godfather. And this is why they keep producing them.

Good Lord, why would any Stones collectors hate the site or your reviews. I certainly don't, and I check the site for updates pretty much daily, so thanks again.

That really is interesting about the Japanese labels (or some of them).I was in Japan about a year and a half ago, and certainly none of the stores I shopped at were willing to ship to me. That said, they were incredibly polite and helpful. The owner( and huge Stones fan) of a store in the smallish town of Hamamatsu that my friend recommended went so far as to give me a bunch of free cds when he realized how far we'd gone out of our way to visit his store. Love it over there and I'd go back in a second.

Gsparaco; I don't agree with your view that DAC does not like foreign coustomers . the DAC shop/head office is open irregulary in Tokyo but any body is welcome their to by their product. However, DAC it self is also not so popular among many wellknown bootlegs stores in Tokyo.
My Jap. friend who works in one of the most famous bootlegs stores in Tokyo does not like the recent DAC releases neither simply as there is nothing new on them!
Also it is very easy to get the DAC releases in Europe too. And has always been.

In general my favorite Japanese labels are:
Wardour (lots of Queen)
Sigma (lots of PFloyd)
Tambourine Man (Dylan)
Empress/Mid Valley (mostly Clapton and Led Z)
Tarantura (the label with the most wonderful packings and Mr Peach is one of the top suppliers...)

Maybe this is better? I always like an upgrade. I did download their DNC 069 from 1981 and it has some of the best sounding tracks from that stuff yet. Not every track is great but some are the best. Check out Waiting on a Friend among others.

OT but Kees don't you think Mr Peach opened his vaults 5 years too late? With every boot available for free 24 hrs after the silvers hit the Tokyo shops it'l be hard to make a reasonable maount fo cash on these tapes... (but I may be wrong).

Re: DAC-096

In general I think Tarantura (incl. Mr Peach) still serves a niche market, mainly due to the combination of the gorgeous packing and the rare/original recordings. Not many of their releases or not sold out, despite the downloading area we live in. But copies are usually 150 pcs only. Their latest Clapton and Rainbow releases are great.

I´m thinking about going to Japan (Tokyo) in the near future! Could you guys maybe provide me with a few facts regarding the bootleg stores in Tokyo that you prefer, name, address etc.

Especially looking for stonesboots of course, but also Zeppelin, Clapton and Hendrix.

Many thanks!
