Curse & Pledge (1984) with P Box [www.sendspace.com]
..from the last LP with the "real" Pandoras Box

("Rainbow mixed with Sabbath meets Purple with a pathos
noone ever heard since 1971", great craftmanship by the musicians)

Crank till ya blow yer brains out & then get the stuff (ol' BB can help ya!)
From this album - Ómen Sung by "Juicy"(Gyula'Gyuszi'Vikidál)

Yet to be reviewed grinning smiley 7,15 MB

Note: - the intro
- the intensity
- the guitar solo (Blackmore-inspired or is it just me?)
- the screams at the end

Could it be called "a dense song with much air in it"... ?

At 192 kb/s, which is about the best you get today generally in Hungary.

Cant wait for Sanctifieds Mind's reaction the 2nd in three years
generally after thousands of similar postings w/ various bands from Hungary winking smiley winking smiley winking smiley

Vikidál in heydays action (a little too much Sonny Barger-alike to be comfortable here.. ) ...

Actually the line-up for Ómen and the song this thread is dedicated to,
ought to be Mark III with Vikidál but with the rhythm section above
changed, into:

László "Zsöci"Zselencz on bass; Zoltán Pálmai on drums (no 1 & 4 from left).

[img.photobucket.com] Box's 1985 line-up, "Mark III"
...I will resize or link the photos pretty soon. Pics [pbox.hu]

in 70's bands from Hungary were the best in Europe besides UK of course. i was Omega and Locomotiv GT huge fan and i saw Omega's show in Pecs and Locomotiv show in my home town. i think it can be curiosity because support band for Locomotive was Scorpions

the same Scorpions smiling smiley

Now we're talkin'.. Spread the gospel, baby! grinning smiley
Oemga's great too, but I find it more appropriate
to push for the heavy rock, r&b and pure blues bands here.

I see similiarities between Hungary 60s-80s/Jamaica 60s and on/Ireland 70s and on
(or for that matter London 1975-80 or Seattle circa 1990-93) in that sense they
create a certain glowing, boiling atmosphere, a musical climate totally unknown outside.

Omega did hit in Germany, in other eastern countries, possibly Russia.
In Sweden mostly people with connection to the old left or with Germany knows
them (as a matter of fact there are also a few die-hard progressive rock freaks that collect Omega... )
Imho some of the English-records they made just stink.

Here's my favorites whoever would want to read it:

P Box mark II 1982-86
P Mobil mark I 1976-79
Dinamit
Hobo Blues Band original line-up
Vikidál solo
Marta Sebesztyen & Muszikás
Tatrai Tibor
Bill's Blues Band
Tunyogi Band
Omega esp. 1969-1977
A.E. Bizottság
Solaris
Kampec Dolores

Hey now, I've only been posting since the fall.

O.K. I've made a baboonbro folder on my drive for your eclectic stuff.

Pretty good. Definitely Deep Purplish.
I've always enjoyed your eloquent tongue in cheek descriptions of the music.
"dense with air" just made me click.
Sorry though, I can't give it song of the millenium.

I'm honoured.
Check here the title track from same album, then I'm gonna post some
newfoundings/rediscoveries [www.sendspace.com]
...Listen to the solos by guitarist Sándor Bencsik...
By 85 his style was indeed set & not an inch less interesting
than Blackmore's (who also went to minimalism around 1984-85)

I also just found the nevertheless Purplish 'Hammond/guitar-weaving'
we all know from Made In Japan 72 etc on an older P Mobil-boot...
Will post in the step over-thread.

I was wrong, what I thought I heard
was actually a guitar weaving sooner a' la Lizzy/Maiden
and it was by Dinamit... Will post tomorrow or next day.
BUt I may have a surprise for all the Hun Heavy Rock Lovers
in the step-over-trax-thread....
