Could you precise for what usage you want to do that ? Because there are many ways to do in that stuff !

hi ! on may 28 "one plus one "sympathy for the devil "will be shown on swedish televison,the movie is 2 hour,but only 55 min stones.
so i want to rec on dvd ,then rip it it to the hardrive,then edit out the non stones material.that's win moviemaker good for,
but win movemaker don't accept dvd format(mpeg1)
so i must convert to avi pal,or svcd to to that,,

vcd or svcd is from the past. Convert your dvd to avi ( will be a large file!!)but you will keep the high quality , edit the avi file and convert back to dvd.
Also possible is to convert with dvd2mpg and edit this mpg2 file. And after this you don't need to convert to dvd format because you already have the mpg2 format. than simply burn it with Nero.
dvd format is mpg2 and not mpg 1(vcd).

For best Quality better keep all in DVD , and work with DVDSHRINK !
It works directly in dvd format ( VOB.files and so on ) and has a good edit fonction to cut undesirable parts . But you must work in several steps

- cut each part you want and save as dvd

- then remake a dvd with all the made little dvd !

There is a whole lot of programs that do this. DVD2AVI, DVD2MPG, DVDtoAVI, DVDtoMPG, VOB2AVI, VOBtoAVI, VOB2MPG, VOBtoMPG and so on... Many of them are fast and works good, but some of them contains a lot of ads.

I used DVDShrink to Rip the DVD.
Then I used somekind of a VOB-converter, maybe it was EasyVCD

There is a lot of freeware, but you have to find out wich is the best for you.

Pegasys TMPEG (Editor, express and DVDAuthor) is a must.

Now I'll try out Asirator DVD to AVI (DivX)

hi thank you all.how the time changes since 3-4 years ago´.bout making movie in the computer,,,

the good thing bout svcd.is widescreen 16:2 i think...

and is good to use for 30 min movie..ca.and burn on cd.

and a (new) thing to have two or more movie onto dvd.(must learn that.)

i like work in win movie maker,(took many hours for me to learn)

But really if you have a DVD recorder keep all in DVD !

Divx and so on where good when DVD recorders do not exited . But know better keep all quality for the same price !!
